TOGETHER, WE CAN COMBAT ANTI-SEMITISM
|
|
Every year Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) activists gather and engage in anti-Semitic activity as defined by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). The NEW Canary Mission report on the 2018 SJP conference reveals that attendees spread anti-Semitism, endorsed violence and showed support for terror.
The 2019 National SJP Conference is to be held at University of Minnesota and this year, you can do something about their anti-Semitism... Email UMN President, Joan T.A. Gabel: [email protected] and send a message to the UMN Board of Regents Ask them to:1. Condemn the 2019 National SJP Conference to be held at UMN.
International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)
The IHRA definition of anti-Semitism is accepted worldwide by governments, states and organizations. This includes the US State Department, as well as the governments of Great Britain, Canada and Germany. On June 1, 2017, the European Parliament voted in favor of a resolution calling for member states to adopt the definition. Even the much criticized British Labour Party has accepted the full IHRA definition. |

ANNUAL GATHERING OF ANTI-SEMITES
|
Canary Mission reports and videos have repeatedly exposed the full extent of anti-Semitism and support for terror within SJP on a national and local level.
The 2018 National SJP Conference, held at UCLA, was a strictly closed event, allowing SJP to double down on its support for terror, without public scrutiny. Despite their attempt to hide, Canary Mission has released its largest exposé of SJP activists to date, exposing 112 attendees for endorsing violence, showing support for terror and chanting for intifada at the conference and on social media. The public is beginning to wake up to the threat posed by the annual event and 2018 saw significant opposition to the conference. It was condemned by students, alumni, L.A. City Council and U.S. Representative Brad Sherman. UCLA Chancellor Gene Block also strongly criticized the event along with members of the University of California’s Board of Regents. With increased exposure and mounting criticism of SJP, organizers attempted to hide the 2018 conference program and shield its attendees from scrutiny. UCLA chose to allow the annual gathering to take place on its campus and even acceded to SJP’s demand that it be closed to the public. This decision gave SJP room to create an even more extreme environment than previous years. |
| SECRECY AND DOUBLE-STANDARDS |
Back in 2014, the National SJP conference, held at Tufts University, was listed as “free and open to the public.” Today, National SJP know they have something to hide. After Canary Mission comprehensively exposed the anti-Semitic nature of their national conferences, chapters and activists, National SJP closed their 2018 conference off from any form of public scrutiny.Conference organizers limited attendance to students who were already verified by an SJP affiliate. Organizers limited media to pre-approved journalists, who had to comply with a strict policy against recordings, photographing and speaking freely with participants. National SJP operates on a double standard. It organizes its activists to enter and disrupt pro-Israel campus events on the grounds of free speech but demands that its own annual conference be completely free from outsiders. |
