During Alhato’s pre-university years, he trivialized sexual assault, mocked the disabled, spread racism, called for the destruction of Israel, expressed support for Hamas and spread anti-Semitism.

Mocking the Death of Jews

On April 30, 2021, Alhato tweeted about a report on the Meron Stampede, where 45 Jewish worshipers were crushed to death and over 150 were injured at an annual festival in Meron, Israel. The report said: “A number of Israeli settlers were killed and wounded.”

Alhato tweeted in response: “Anyway...what are y’all having for iftar [post-fast meal] tonight? I’m making kufta with my mom😋.”

Calling for Violence against Israelis

On March 21, 2022, Alhato tweeted: “There is great significance to the passage of time (me referring to the day we kick out israeli settlers and liberate Palestine).”

In the same thread, Alhato tweeted: “ishwi them like jaj and kufta🍖 [fry them like chicken and meatballs].”

On November 29, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “Israelis are not our ‘equals’ or ‘counterparts’…we are fighting to have the same rights as they do is legitimizing a settler colonial identity. Free Palestine and death to everything Israel.”

On December 27, 2017, Alhato responded to a question on CuriousCat: “do you think that isreal [sic] will ever give the country back to the Palestinians?” Alhato answered: “No were [sic] gonna have to pop a few bullets in them and get it back ourselves.”

Spreading Anti-Semitism

On August 5, 2014, Alhato tweeted: “@AshBeyHere lol Zionists aren't even Jews they just hijacked that religion and race. Hitler hated Jews bc Zionists owned all the banks.”

On May 27, 2015, Alhato tweeted: “I always laugh when European Jews say Palestine is their land… b**ch you get sunburnt. You never had ancestors here.”

In the same thread on that day, Alhato tweeted: “I mean obviously if you have to use sunscreen you never developed the genes to combat harsh sunlight. Take your a** back to Europe.”

On October 22, 2015, Alhato tweeted: “Israel is the only country in the world that was created and paved for a group of people that experienced a genocide…And it's so hypocritical for that same group to utilize Hitler's methods on a minority in their country to maintain a Jewish majority…I guess it’s true when they say history repeats itself.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

On October 24, 2015, Alhato tweeted: “ashkenazi Jews are the biggest frauds in history they have 0 relation to the Israelites of Palestine.”

One way that anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is to claim [00:06:46] that Jews, particularly Ashkenazi Jews, do not descend from the ancient Israelites. This claim alleges that Jews are white Europeans who lack a connection to the Land of Israel. The Khazar myth is a common version of this claim which is used to delegitimize [00:02:16] the existence of the modern State of Israel.

On June 17, 2021, Alhato responded to a Twitter user, writing: “Zio zio zio😘.”

The term "Zio" is a common derogatory reference to Zionists, as well as an often-used anti-Semitic slur among white supremacists.

Glorifying Terrorists

On April 12, 2016, Alhato posted to Instagram a photo of himself with Rasmea Odeh. Alhato wrote: “Meeting the woman that set me on the path of social activism took my breath away. She's a true inspiration to the Palestinian community.”

Odeh was a key military operative with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization. In 1969, she masterminded a PFLP supermarket bombing that killed two college students. She also attempted to bomb the British consulate in Jerusalem. Odeh later moved to the United States but was deported to Jordan in 2017 for immigration fraud.

Also on April 12, 2016, Alhato tweeted: “Rasmea offered me to work with her at the AAAN (Arab American Action Network). I haven't accepted yet bc summer school but it's an honor.”

On March 12, 2017, Alhato tweeted: “Rasmea Odeh fought to kill zionists not because they were Jews but because they are racist colonizers. Zionists =\= Jews.”

On September 20, 2017, Alhato posted to Facebook a photo of himself posing with Odeh and fellow SJP activist Ala'a Salem. Alhato wrote: “…I support Rasmea.”

On March 9, 2019, Alhato tweeted: “Leila Khaled Had plastic surgery 6 times to remain unidentifiable & continue hijacking israeli planes.”

Paraphrasing Khaled, Alhato wrote: “‘It’s a minor sacrifice. Now women are going to change their faces & lips to beautify themselves, but they didn’t beautify their minds. But I did that. I beautified my mind.’🇵🇸.”

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

On May 11, 2021, during Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW), Alhato tweeted: “Palestinians are now firing rockets into Ber Saba3 [Beersheba], in hopes of liberating the southern most Palestinians village 🧡.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

On May 28, 2021, Alhato spoke at an anti-Israel event where he said [00:22:25]: “Before Hamas, PFLP…was considered a terrorist organization…which Leila Khaled, God bless her soul, she’s still alive, but just God bless her soul regardless, was considered a terrorist.”

The PFLP has been designated a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) by the United States, Canada, Israel, the European Union, the Gulf Cooperation Council and Australia.

Celebrating Violence against Israelis

On December 10, 2018, Alhato posted to Facebook an Al Jazeera article titled: “Seven Israeli settlers wounded in drive-by shooting in West Bank.” Alhato commented: “thank u, next.”

On May 11, 2021, during OGW, Alhato tweeted: “Another israeli police station was torched and set on fire 😍🔥.” He was responding to a tweet that said: ”احراق مركز شرطة الاحتلال في طوبا الزنغرية قرب طبريا المحتلة” [setting fire to the occupation police station in Tuba Al-Zangaria, near occupied Tiberias].”

In 2021, the Israel Police stepped up their efforts to dismantle the Arab organized crime infrastructure that was terrorizing Arab and Bedouin residents of the Galilee, in the north of Israel. This resulted in an escalation of acts of violence against the police. May 2021 saw a marked increase in the violence.

Hatred of Zionists

On January 26, 2016, Alhato tweeted: “If you're a Zionist you're basically a white supremacist.”

On June 1, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “Goodnight everyone except ugly a** zionists who deserve to rot in hell.”

On September 24, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “Learning Jujitsu has been so fun. Now I’m waiting for the unavoidable day a Nazi/Zionist approach me and I get to beat tf [the f**k] out of them🐯.”

On October 25, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “Zionists are ugly, you ugly rat.”

On October 27, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “All Zionists are racist pigs, every single one.”

On November 19, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “It’s international trash day so I hope all you zionists are having a nice day.”

On January 24, 2021, Alhato posted a meme with text that said: “START ZIONIST SHAMING.”

The meme featured a photo of a boy hiding his face as others pointed at him.

Text accompanying the meme read: “START ZIONIST SHAMING” alongside other text that said: “ZIONISTS HAVE NO CULTURE,” “racist!,” “COLONIZER!,” “how are you sunburnt if you’re indigenous?,” “chocolate hummus looking a**,” “steal anyone’s land today?” and “GO BACK TO BROOKLYN.”

Hatred of Israelis

On May 28, 2018, Alhato posted to Facebook: “Driving by and yelling ‘kos ukhtkom’ [f**k your sister] at 2 israeli settlers after finally getting through a checkpoint was the highlight of my night.”

On May 15, 2021, an Instagram user posted a screenshot of a May 15, 2021 tweet by Alhato that read: “I don’t want to f**king coexist with israelis they have nothing to do with me they have 0 relationship to the land they’ve stolen…I don’t want to dialogue with them. They’re genocidal sociopaths I have nothing in common with Europeans.”

Promoting Intifada

On November 7, 2015, Alhato tweeted: “‘We are proud to honor all the young Palestinians who have reignited the flames of the #intifada.’”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

On October 8, 2015, during the “Knife Intifada,” Alhato tweeted photos of Palestinian women throwing stones and slinging rocks and wrote: “Palestinian women fighting the israeli occupation #ThirdIntifada #FreePalestine.”

Although romanticized as a form of “popular resistance,” rock throwing remains a deadly form of violence

Hatred of Israel

On November 30, 2021, Alhato tweeted a photo of himself wearing a T-shirt with bold text printed across it that said: “ISRAEL IS A GARBAGE COUNTRY THAT IS ONLY LOVED BY GARBAGE PEOPLE. IT WAS FOUNDED ON ETHNIC CLEANSING, APARTHEID AND SETTLER-COLONIALISM. ITS FLAG IS A SYMBOL OF WHITE SUPREMACY.” He had previously worn the T-shirt at a May 12, 2021 protest.

On May 28, 2021, Alhato claimed [00:21:00] on a Facebook Live discussion: “Even if Hamas had an Iron Dome system as well…Israel still wouldn’t have a right to exist…all of Israel is an illegal settlement.”

In the same Facebook Live session, Alhato also said [01:02:33]: “We don’t view Israel's existence in the levant as normal…Israel wants to disappear Arab bodies off our land, want to fill it with Starbucks and, you know, um, racist synagogues and settler colonies that dump waste everywhere.”

On May 15, 2020, Alhato posted a video [slide 4] of a protester at an anti-Israel event standing on a car and repeatedly shouting “F**k Israel” while waving a Palestinian flag. Alhato’s voice can be heard in the video, also shouting “F**k Israel.”

On February 15, 2019, Alhato posted to Facebook: “Hello your daily reminder that israel is a country founded on the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and has no right to exist. Shabbat Shalom…”

The phrase, “Shabbat shalom,” is a term Jews use to greet each other on the eve of and on the Sabbath.

On June 7, 2016, Alhato posted to Instagram a picture of an Israeli flag floating in a toilet. Alhato commented: “I just took a s**t.”

Hatred of America

On July 4, 2022, Alhato added photos to his Instagram Story [slides 10, 11] with text saying: “Happy interdependence day! F**k ‘america,’” and “America is a sponsor of zionism! America is a death cult that bankrolls death cults around the world.”

On January 7, 2021, Alhato posted to Facebook about America, stating: “...B*rn down this settler colonial state already…”

On December 8, 2020, Alhato wrote on Facebook about America, stating: “F**k this sh**hole prison masquerading as a ‘country.’”

On August 15, 2020, Alhato posted to Facebook: “America is the most violent country in the world with the most violent citizens in the world. That’s the mf [motherf**king] status. Unpack the rest on your own.”

On February 24, 2019, Alhato posted to Facebook: “America is so deeply evil I don’t even know how to talk to people who don’t understand that.”

Hatred of Zionism

On May 10, 2021, during OGW, Alhato tweeted: “Everyone should be anti zionist. No one should support an ideology or group of people that believe they are more supreme than another group. Especially a white supremacy ideology that promotes the genocide of innocent Palestinians. And every single Palestinian is innocent.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

On May 15, 2020, Alhato posted to Instagram: “...Zionism is a plague of White Supremacy, of Colonialism & Imperialism. Zionists are Colonists who have no connection to the land…Zionism will be defeated soon, & every Colonist will leave to where they came from. #FREEPALESTINE.”

On December 13, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “I would like to clarify to anyone who’s still confused: Israel has no right to exist as a ‘nation’ for Jews & Zionism is a political ideology that stems from European white supremacy. Zionism = Jewish supremacy in the same way white nationalists are white supremacists. Ty next.”

2022 Arrest

In June 18, 2022, Alhato was arrested for protesting against Israeli singer Netta Barzilai performing at Chicago’s PrideFest. Protestors reportedly delayed Barzilai’s performance. Alhato was released on June 20, 2022.

Leading an Event Disruption

On August 28, 2017, Alhato led a disruption of a pro-Israel presentation where protesters held a sign that said that “ISRAEL” stands for “Imperialism, Supremacy, Racism, Apartheid, Ethnic Cleansing, Land Theft.”

According to the South West Asian and North African (SWANA) Alliance, which organized the disruption: “We shut it down, took over the mic, and made it clear that Zionism has no place for [sic] in our communities…”

On September 4, 2018, Alhato wrote: “1 year ago today my comrades and I from SWANA Alliance shut down the Santa Barbra [sic] Pride for inviting Zionists.”

Anti-Israel Activism

April 12, 2019, Alhato reported on Facebook and Instagram that he spoke to “high schoolers” at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) in Evanston, Illinois, about his “trip to the Mexican border + how it relates to the Palestinian liberation movement.”

Alhato shared to Facebook a drawing that students made of his presentation’s “important points” that included supporting BDS and text that read: “We don’t want two states, we want ‘48.”

The phrases “Occupied 48” or “48 Palestine” are two common ways that anti-Israel activists refer to the State of Israel.

On July 1, 2018, Alhato tweeted: “Honored to have given my presentation on the Nakba and ongoing ethnic cleansing of my Palestinian people at Birzeit University ✊🏼💖.”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

On March 1, 2018, Alhato posted to Facebook: “Sincerest congratulations to my comrades in New York on announcing their new organization, WOL [Within Our Lifetime]. Please check them out, like the page, and SUPPORT PALESTINIANS.”

Within Our Lifetime (WOL) is an anti-Israel activist group in New York City founded by Nerdeen Kiswani. In her WOL activism, Kiswani has called for the death of Zionists and for the destruction of Israel, spread incitement to violence and celebrated terrorists. WOL’s “Points of Unity” states: “We defend the right of Palestinians as colonized people to resist the zionist occupation by any means necessary.”

SJP Activism

On November 11, 2016, Alhato posted to Facebook: “SXU peeps, my Students for Justice in Palestine friends and I are throwing a fundraising dinner next Tuesday. PLEASE come and show your support for Palestine!”

On October 29, 2017, Alhato led a workshop at the 2017 National SJP conference in Houston.

On November 23, 2019, Alhato posted to Facebook: “‪SJP Chicago held a die-in on 11/20/2019 for Gaza to honor all that were killed by the israeli military.” His post referred to a November 20, 2019 “Die-In Rally for Gaza,” which was co-hosted by SJP Chicago and seven other SJP chapters.

The rally took place during Operation Black Belt, which Israel launched to stop the hundreds of rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror group.

On January 27, 2020, Alhato posted to Instagram: “Thank you @midwestsjp for hosting me and my workshop on Palestine…” His post was accompanied by a photo [slide 4] of him with anti-Israel activist Kristian Davis Bailey.

On February 22, 2020, Alhato posted to Instagram: “Thank you SJP Chicago and UIC for hosting my workshop.” His post included a series of photos. One photo [slide 3] featured a sign that read: “ZIONISM IS RACISM.”

On February 3, 2015, SJP SXU promoted a fundraising dinner organized by SJP Chicago to support Rasmea Odeh.

On March 12, 2015, SJP SXU tweeted "We want #Justice4Rasmea NOW.’’

Odeh was a key military operative [00:02:08]with the terrorist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In 1969, Odeh masterminded a PFLP bombing that killed two college students in a Jerusalem supermarket. Odeh also attempted to bomb the British consulate.

Odeh confessed, in a highly detailed account, the day following her arrest. In a 2004 documentary, one of Odeh’s co-conspirators directly implicated [00:10:53] Odeh as the mastermind.

In 1970, an Israeli court tried and convicted Odeh for her involvement in both bombings and sentenced her to life imprisonment. However, Odeh was released 10 years later, in a prisoner swap and emigrated to the United States.

On November 10, 2014, a Michigan federal jury convicted Odeh for immigration fraud because she failed to disclose her prior conviction and life sentence on her immigration application. On March 12, 2015, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

In 2017, after an appeal and a lengthy court battle, Odeh admitted to immigration fraud, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship, deported to Jordan and banned from re-entering the U.S.

SJP SXU - Demonizing Israel

On April 11, 2016, SXU SJP erected a display as part of Palestine Awareness Week, featuring a series of maps that presented lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous "Palestinian land" purportedly stolen by Israel.

In February of 2016, publisher McGraw-Hill Education recalled and destroyed copies of a college level textbook that contained the fraudulent maps. In October 2015, the United States cable news network MSNBC apologized for airing a similar series of maps and retracted them.

On October 5, 2015, SXU SJP posted on Facebook an article by Electronic Intifada that reported on terrorist Fadi Aloon as "being shot in cold blood while posing no threat." Fadi Aloon was shot by Israeli security forces after he stabbed a 15-year old Israeli boy in his chest and back. Several hours before the attack, Aloon posted “Either martyrdom or victory” on his Facebook page.

SXU SJP quoted from the article in their post saying ‘’mainstream US media outlets are actively concealing the alarming displays of genocidal racism emanating from Israeli Jewish society.’’

On July 23, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge (OPE), SXU SJP tweeted "SJP at SXU stands in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. We condemn the acts of genocide Israel is partaking in #GazaUnderAttack"

SJP SXU - Supporting BDS

In 2015, SXU SJP supported divestment campaigns at a number of universities, including DePaul University, UC Davis and Northwestern.

On May 13, 2015, SXU SJP posted on Facebook, urging followers to ‘’Testify Online Against IL Anti-Boycott Bill! [SB1671] Stop the Politicizing of Our Pension System!’’

On April 13, 2015, SXU SJP held an event called "Make Hummus not Walls" during Palestinian Awareness Week. The event featured an “alternative Hummus tasting” to encourage students to boycott the “immoral, socially irresponsible [Israeli] Sabra Hummus” brand that was sold on campus.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
