Reema Jallaq

Overview

Reema Jallaq [Sammia S. Jallaq] has promoted the terror group Hamas, glorified the terrorist Rasmea Odeh, praised other terrorists and defended “Knife Intifada” terrorists.

She has also spread incitement, glorified violent protesters, demonized Israel and defended anti-Israel agitators.

Jallaq founded the Palestine Solidarity Group (PSG) in Columbus, Ohio and as of March 2020, Jallaq reported on Facebook that she manages PSG’s Facebook group.

Jallaq was an activist with the Committee for Justice in Palestine (CJP) at Ohio State University (OSU) in 2015 and 2016. Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at OSU was formerly known as CJP until 2016.

Jallaq supported the OSU Divest campaign in 2015 and 2016 and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Jallaq is the co-founder of Layali and Co, a company that supported the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF).  Layali and Co sells T-shirts and accessories that demonize Israel, glorify terrorists and promote BDS.

The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) is a nonprofit organization reportedly set up to “provide urgent humanitarian care for Gaza’s children.” It has been financially linked with the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), which was shut down by the U.S. government for funneling donations to a terrorist organization.

In March 2019, Jallaq posted to Facebook an NBC Chicago segment she featured in that said she had been an Uber driver for the past three years, using the name “Sammia Jalaq.”

Promoting Hamas

On December 8, 2017, Jallaq shared a video of masked Hamas terrorists carrying assault weapons, with the caption: “Jerusalem, we are coming - Hamas.”

Hamas is a designated terrorist organization by the European Union, Canada, Australia, the United States and Israel.

Glorifying Rasmea Odeh

On October 15, 2015, Jallaq tweeted a photo of herself posing with terrorist Rasmea Odeh. Jallaq commented:“My hero! #RasmeaOdeh”

Odeh was a key military operative [00:02:08]with the terrorist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In 1969, Odeh masterminded a PFLP bombing that killed two college students in a Jerusalem supermarket. Odeh also attempted to bomb the British consulate.

Odeh confessed, in a highly detailed account, the day following her arrest. In a 2004 documentary, one of Odeh’s co-conspirators directly implicated [00:10:53] Odeh as the mastermind.

In 1970, an Israeli court tried and convicted Odeh for her involvement in both bombings and sentenced her to life imprisonment. However, Odeh was released 10 years later, in a prisoner swap and emigrated to the United States.

On November 10, 2014, a Michigan federal jury convicted Odeh for immigration fraud because she failed to disclose her prior conviction and life sentence on her immigration application. On March 12, 2015, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

In 2017, after an appeal and a lengthy court battle, Odeh admitted to immigration fraud, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship, deported to Jordan and banned from re-entering the U.S.

Also on October 15, 2015, Jallaq posted on Facebook a photo of herself posing for a group picture with Odeh and holding a sign that said: “Drop the charges now.”

On March 24, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook a poem glorifying Odeh, along with a photo of Odeh alongside protestors, holding signs calling to “Drop the Charges” against her.

On August 11, 2017, Jallaq posted a selfie of her and Odeh and added: “Rasmea, you will be deeply missed! Thank you for everything you have done! #freepalestine — in Chicago, Illinois.” The photo had the caption that read: “Rasmea Odeh in the house!”

On August 12, 2017, Jallaq attended an event that honored Odeh and was held at the International Union of Operating Engineers in Chicago, Il.

Praising Terrorists

On February 20, 2019, Jallaq posted to Facebook a picture of PFLP militant RIchard Reilley in a casket decorated with a PFLP flag and a Palestine Liberation Organization flag.

Jallq’s post said: “Rest In Peace and power Richard Reilly. They buried you with the very flag you fought so hard for! Thank you on behalf of all PALESTINIANS across the world! I was one of the lucky ones to have marched alongside of you! Goodbye comrade.”

Richard Reilly was “a fighter and an advocate” with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization.

PFLP posted an article on February 12, 2020 on their English language website mourning Reilly and describing him as a “lifelong internationalist fighter for Palestine” and “comrade.”

On May 3, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook: “Over 1,500 Palestinian Prisoners are on Hunger Strike. Who will join Me in doing the #saltwaterchallenge?🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸.”

The “Saltwater Challenge” was held in solidarity with hunger-striking Palestinian prison inmates convicted of terrorism. The strike was initiated by Marwan Barghouti, who was serving five consecutive life sentences for his role in suicide bombings that killed five Israelis during the second intifada. Aarab Barghouti, the son of Marwan Barghouti, launched the "Saltwater Challenge."

On November 11, 2016, Jallaq posted on Facebook: “In 2011 I was so blessed to… Be able to visit the final resting place of our beloved leader #Yasser_Arafat. He is the only leader of the Palestinian people that defended his people and his country. He will forever remain the Most powerful leader for us!”

Jallaq continued: “Would you believe me when I tell you that #israel actually killed him?! He was poisoned by #israel and died in #france.” Below her comments were photos of herself posing in front of Arafat’s gravestone.

Yasser Arafat was the former leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and is known by some as the “father of modern terrorism.” Under Arafat, the goal of the PLO was the violent destruction of Israel.

On February 28, 2016, Jallaq defended Mahmoud Shalaan on Facebook, sharing a post that said: “Mahmoud Shalaan...was executed 2 hours a go near Bet Eil’s check point by the Israeli Zionist forces...who decided to shoot him with cold blood.”

Mahmoud Shaalan stabbed an Israeli soldier on February 26, 2016 and was shot while trying to stab additional Israeli troops.

On October 1, 2014, Jallaq posted a photo of Leila Khaled and a quote from Khaled that said: “In the beginning, all women had to prove that we could be equal to men in armed struggle...I have learned that a woman can be a fighter...Revolution can mean life itself, every aspect of life.”

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

Defending “Knife Intifada” Terrorists

On October 5, 2015, during the “Knife Intifada,” Jallaq shared to Facebook a photo of Fadi Aloon with text that read: “MY NAME IS FADI, 19 YEARS OLD I WAS BEING PURSUED BY ISRAELI SETTLERS SO I RUSHED TO THE ISRAELI POLICE THEY SHOT ME DEAD”.

Fadi Aloon was shot by Israeli security forces after he stabbed a 15-year-old Israeli boy. Several hours before the attack, Aloon posted “Either martyrdom or victory” on his Facebook page.

In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.

On November 19, 2015, Jallaq posted to Facebook: “As the world was busy watching #paris....Israel continued to murder innocent #Palestinians. Don't let the media or the government fool you there's always a reason for these attacks.”

On November 24, 2015, Jallaq shared an article to Facebook titled: “Palestinian teens armed with scissors shot in Jerusalem,” referring to Hadeel and Nurhan Awad.

Hadeel Awad and her cousin Nurhan Awad were shot after they stabbed two people — including a 70-year-old Palestinian resident of Bethlehem — near Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda market. Hadeel was shot by police as she was slashing at other Israeli civilians with scissors.

On December 28, 2015, Jallaq shared to Facebook an article titled: “Take Action: New website, online actions to #FreeAhmadManasrah, imprisoned Palestinian boy.”

Ahmed Manasra (sometimes spelled Mansara) and his 15-year-old cousin Hassan went on a stabbing spree in Jerusalem on October 12, 2015, during the Knife Intifada. They critically wounded a 13-year-old boy and moderately wounded a 25-year-old man. The spree ended when police shot Hassan and a passing motorist hit Ahmed. Ahmed was taken to an Israeli hospital. He admitted to investigators: “I went there to stab Jews.” He was later tried and convicted on two counts of attempted murder.

Spreading Incitement

On July 25, 2014, Jallaq posted to Facebook: “Being detained illegally for no reason is one thing, but to also then have to suffer being sexually abused disgusts the s**t out of me! That is something these poor children have to live with for the rest of their lives! How many of you will share this post and share the truth?”

Jallaq also linked to a now defunct article from FalastinNews, titled: “40% of Palestinian Children Detained y Israel Are Sexually Abused.”

On July 18, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook: “Metal detectors to protect who? The mosque belongs to us not them! #handsoffalaqsa! They literally just want every little thing!”

On July 14, 2017, terrorists murdered two Israeli police officers outside the entrance to the Al-Aqsa compound, reportedly following claims that the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. In response to the terror attack, Israel installed metal detectors and security cameras at the entrance to the holy site, which the authorities later removed, after further rioting and escalation in violence.

On July 21, 2017, Jallaq posted on Facebook that she visited the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and added: “The Mosque is under attack, will you be there to save it? Israeli forces have put up metal detectors at the entrances. They are constantly trying to take OUR place of worship.”

On November 25, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook “**Breaking**” and embedded a Facebook post by Amani Al-Hindi Barakat that said: “Yes yes yes!!! 1000 mabrouk to our brave people of Jerusalem and to all our Palestinian people everywhere. Rest in power our courageous Martyrs who paid a very heavy price for all of us.🇵🇸🤞🇵🇸🤞🇵🇸🤞🇵🇸🤞🇵🇸.”

Jallaq’s Facebook post linked to an Haaretz article titled: “After Cabinet Decision, Israel Begins Removing Metal Detectors From Temple Mount.”

On May 30, 2019, Jallaq posted to Facebook a local news report on the anti-Israel children’s book titled: “P is for Palestine,” which is written by Golbarg Bashi who has demonized Israel and is a supporter of theBDS movement.

The news report Jallaq posted noted [00:01:10] the book states “I is for Intifada. Intifada is Arabic for rising up for what is right, whether you are a kid or a grownup.”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

The second intifada (2000-2005) was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.

Jallaq added: “...🇵🇸Please go on Amazong [sic] and buy this book and support this woman!”

Glorifying Violent Protesters

On May 17, 2018, Jallaq posted to Facebook a photo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who she referred to as “the devil himself” and his wife taking a selfie with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, senior advisors to U.S. President Donald Trump, in front of the newly relocated U.S. embassy to Israel, in Jerusalem.

Jallaq wrote: “Dear mother Palestine, resistance is your right, and Al Quds is your capital! As the world watched the US Embassy being moved to Jerusalem, 50 Palestinians were murdered on Monday.”

In May 2018, terror group Hamas instigated violent riots on the Israeli-Gaza border. Thousands of rioters attempted to breach Israel’s border fence, declaring their intention to harm Jews across the border under the pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.

On May 9, 2018, Jallaq promoted on Facebook an event titled: “Protest for #Nakba70 &Right of Return: Stop The Massacre in Gaza.”

The event’s Facebook description alleged: “March 15th, 2018, marks 70 years of the ethnic cleansing of almost 800,000 Palestinians from their homes and lands, at the hands of zionist gangs.”

The event’s Facebook description continued: “The Israelis have used unimaginable brutality in response to the #GreatReturnMarch in Gaza, using chemical weapons and murdering dozens of unarmed protesters, including members of the press.”

March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Participants also attempted to breach the border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire. Agitators also threw Molotov cocktails and firebombs, shot firearms and threw rocks.

Demonizing Israel

On August 26, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Jallaq posted on Facebook a photo of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu with a bucket of red liquid upended over him and superimposed text that said: “#netanyuahu you are bathed in human blood # # # Gaza #GazaUnderAttack.”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

On May 18, 2016, Jallaq posted a video on Facebook likening Israel to Nazi Germany, titled: “Israel - Nazi Like Palestinian Holocaust.”

The video included [00:03:22] a photo of Nazi soldiers wearing Star of David armbands in place of the Swastika armbands Nazi soldiers wore. Superimposed on one of the soldier’s faces is the face of Israeli politician Tzipi Livni, sporting a Hitlerian moustache.

On December 6, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook: “Jerusalem IS the capital of PALESTINE, not ‘Israel’. You’ve stolen more than half of the Palestinian Land, that wasn’t enough. You’ve murdered hundreds and thousands of innocent Palestinians, that was enough. You’ve attempted to steal our identity, that wasn’t enough.”

Jallaq’s post protested the U.S. government’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the decision to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

On December 12, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook a short video clip of a group of people giving the middle finger, and the caption: “A message to Israel from mankind.”

Ahed and Nariman Tamimi were detained after Nariman filmed Ahed punching and kicking Israeli soldiers. Ahed has a long history of physically attacking Israeli soldiers.

Nariman Tamimi, Ahed Tamimi’s mother, is a prolific promoter of terror. In 2015, she shared a Facebook post providing graphic instructions on where to aim a knife to kill an Israeli. In 2016, Nariman shared her approval of a teenage Palestinian terrorist who killed a 13-year-old Israeli girl sleeping in her bed.

On November 12, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook a photo of herself posing with Lamis Deek, with the caption: “Lamis Deek in the House.” Jallaq added: “Ayyyy!Lamis Deek #freepalestine!”

Lamis Deek has expressed support for terror organizations and terrorism. She has supported [00:01:15] Hamas terrorists and called for intifada in America, as well as expressed hatred of Israel and propagated anti-Israel conspiracy theories.

On March 26, 2016, Jallaq shared a Facebook post from Allison Weir. The post Jallaq shared featured a photo of Iyad Burnat and Weir and said: “Yesterday's rally was awesome!!! The fact that this was initiated by a Palestinian organization made it extraordinarily powerful – I've never been in a more moving march.”

Iyad Burnat is the coordinator of the Bil’in popular resistance committee, organizing weekly, often violent demonstrations against the Israeli security barrier since 2005. Burnat has repeatedly equated Israel with Hitler and ISIS. He has also claimed that Zionism is a “racist ideology” and accused “Zionists” of controlling American politics.

Weir is the founder and executive director of the anti-Semitic organization If Americans Knew (IAK) and president of the anti-Israel Council for the National Interest (CNI). In 2015, Weir was condemned by Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), for being “a repeat guest of white supremacist Clay Douglas on his hate radio show.”

On October 27, 2014, Jallaq posted to Facebook a photo of herself posing with Mads Gilbert.

Gilbert has been banned indefinitely from entering Gaza through Israel because of his connections to the Hamas leadership. In 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2014, Gilbert acted as a propagandist for Hamas.

In 2001, following al Qaeda's September 11 terrorist attacks, Gilbert expressed support for the terror acts as a “legitimate response.”

Anti-Israel Activity

On November 7, 2017, Jallaq posted to Facebook that she traveled with Sabry Wazwaz to attend a screening of his documentary “Palestine: Why the Caged Dove Sings,” hosted by Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE,) the SJP chapter at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (UM Ann Arbor.)

Jallaq helped organize a group to travel to Al-Awda’s March 20, 2016 rally opposing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) annual conference.

On March 20, 2016, Al-Awda held an anti-AIPAC rally in Washington, D.C. Participants carried Al-Awda signs reading “Israel = Racism & Genocide.” Marchers also held signs stating “Israel = Ku Klux Klan,” and law enforcement officers intervened to move agitators away from the White House.

The stated mission of AIPAC is to “strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of the United States and Israel.”

On August 18, 2014, Jallaq featured in a video posted to Facebook, taken during a protest against OPE, where she led protesters in chanting [00:00:36]: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.

On August 17, 2014, Jallaq co-hosted another protest titled: “Al-Awda Ohio Regional Rally 4 Justice In Palestine.” The event was co-sponsored by Al-Awda Cleveland and PSG.

The Facebook event description said: “This will be a state-wide rally in front of the Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio! There has been over 1,900 murdered Palestinians this month alone! We demand an end to the terror on Gaza! We will RISE up again for Palestine and demand Israel be held accountable for their war crimes!”

The Right to Education Tour brings Palestinian students to U.S. campuses to promote a claim that Israel arbitrarily obstructs the rights of Palestinians to higher education. The organization has demonized Israel for its security sweeps made to shut down terror cells operating from Palestinian campuses.

OSU Divest

On March 28, 2016, Jallaq posted to Facebook: “Yas! Yas! Yassssssss! #osudivest made the papers! I especially like the end of the article when Sara said: ‘ #OSUDIVEST isn't going away. We have just started!’”

OSU Divest was established in January 2015: “in response to the ever-worsening human rights crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

The group claimed that by “advocating for divestment from corporations, we are not condemning or attacking a country, a community, or a people,” and “our initiative does not support any particular political stance.”

In March 2015, OSU Divest introduced a BDS resolution at OSU’s University Student Government (USG). The divestment resolution was voted down.

Jallaq added: “If you know any of these students from #OhioState please take a minute to thank them for all of the hard work they are doing on this #bdsmovement!”

On March 22, 2016, Jallaq participated in a protest, along with JVP activists in support of divestment at OSU.

On March 23, 2016, OSU Divest worked closely with SJP OSU board members to present another divestment resolution to the USG.

During the pre-vote discussion of the 2016 bill, which was published by secretary of the USG, OSU Divest activists accused Israel of “apartheid.” One claimed that United States presidential election candidates “all paraded to AIPAC to pledge allegiance to a foreign government.”

The resolution failed in a secret ballot by 21-9 votes, with 15 abstentions.

Jallaq’s March 28, 2016 Facebook post continued: “Thank you to you all who continue to inspire us in this community! All of your hard work has not gone unnoticed! Very proud of you all. Although, it hasn't gone in your favor just yet don't give up the fight! #freepalestine #bds #boycotisrael.”

On March 14, 2019, Jallaq posted to Facebook in protest against the opening of a bar in Cincinnati featuring “an Israeli street food-inspired food window.” Jallaq wrote: “added Boycott the s**t out of this restaurant! It has no place in Cincinnati! The zionists first steal our land and now our food!”

Layali & Co

On April 24, 2016, Jallaq’s company, Layali & Co. posted to their instagram a photo of a t-shirt that said “‘48” and “Silence is Complicity.” Layali & Co. added: “When you choose to remain silent about the illegal occupation in Palestine, you become just as guilty as ‘Israel.’”

Khaled participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. She was a leading member of the PFLP.

PSG

The Palestine Solidarity Group (PSG) describes itself as “a coalition of individuals and groups in the city of Columbus opposed to the occupation of Palestine.” PSG-Columbus shares on its Facebook portal articles, events and videos that celebrate violence against Israel, delegitimize and demonize Israel, condemn anti-BDS efforts and justify terrorism.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
