Kat-Yang Stevens

Overview

Kat Yang Stevens [Katherine Stevens] is an aggressive anti-Israel activist who demonstrates with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Cornell (Cornell SJP).

Stevens is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. She runs a non-profit organization called Groundwork for Praxis.

Threatening Pro-Israel Students

On November 19, 2014, Stevens participated in an SJP demonstration at Cornell.

During the demonstration, Stevens invadedthe personal space of pro-Israel students. She repeatedlytaunted one student, saying "go ahead, slap me B**ch, slap me" and “shut your f**king pie-hole,” and yelling “aggression will be met with aggression.”

She was egged on by her fellow demonstrators, one of whom told the Pro-Israel faction "f**k you Zionist scum." Other slurs reportedly used were “Apartheid is f**king apartheid" and “there’s no logic to Zionism.”

Pro-Israeli students reported that Cornell SJP activists ripped one of their signs and smeared ketchup on another.

When the SJP Cornell demonstrators were asked why they were protesting on that day in particular, and if they denounce Hamas, pro-Palestinian students refused to answer.

The demonstration was held the day after six people were murdered with a gun, axes and a butcher knife, during morning prayers in a Jerusalem synagogue, known as the Har Nof Massacre.

Deriding Pro-Palestinian Jews

On May 26, 2016, Stevens tweeted: "The worst is white Ashkenazi Jews who build careers/platforms via pro-Palestinian activism but are entitled to their settler status in U.S."

Demonizing Zionism

On April 14, 2016, Stevens tweeted: "I guess because #Hillary is a zionist demon people passively accept #Sanders remarkably pathetic stance on Isreali [sic] colonialism. #DemDebate."

On April 14, 2016, Stevens tweeted:"also f**k scarlet Johansens career, she is vile white supremacist zionist scum."

On July 23, 2015, Stevens postedon Facebook: — "i am abused every f**king day by organized white supremacists and zionists"

On March 28, 2015, Stevens tweeted: — “against ongoing state repression and targeted white supremacist & zionist violence in my physical world.”

Propagating Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories

On May 26, 2016, Stevens tweeted: — "Many politicians, bankers, and super rich ARE Rothschild Zionists. It's just a fact. Why are RZ not a legitimate target?"

On April 7, 2016, Stevens tweeted: “Meanwhile our zionist banker overlords laugh n plot to destroy more of humanity and nature.”

On May 26, 2016, Stevens retweeted a tweet that read: "#Politicians are puppets being played in a grand scheme by the central bankers. #Rothschild #Zionists."

Supporting PFLP Militants

On March 3, 2016, Stevens retweeted a tweet that read: “PFLP is fighting against Israel, the Zionist movement, the Palestinian Authority governing body, global imperialism.”

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), is an internationally designated terrorist organization.

Accusing Israel of Genocide and Apartheid

Stevens promotes a workshop on her website, instructing on how Israel is a "settler colonial nation state," and “zionist organizations” use environmentalist “propaganda” to hide apartheid and genocide.

On April 14, 2016, Stevens retweeted the tweet that read:“ No legit discussion can be had re Israel/Palestine without the words "Zionism" "occupation" "apartheid" & "genocide" being used. #DemDebate”

On September 19, 2014 Stevens published an article where she claimed that in 2014, Israel spent 50 days " kidnapping, sexually assaulting" and “otherwise torturing” Palestinians, as well as committing “acts of genocide.” On March 21, 2016, Stevens retweeted a tweet that read: “Israel’s story," said Hillary, is of "ppl struggling 4 freedom & self-determination.” Then she praised ethnic cleanser Golda Meir #AIPAC2016”

BDS Cornell

On April 10, 2014, Stevens attendeda student assembly BDS vote at Cornell, during which a divestment bill was voted to be tabled indefinitely. Pro-BDS students repeatedly and profanely interrupted the assembly, and many walked out in the middle, with one student yelling "f**k you, fascist Cornell." Stevens remained, repeatedly interrupting the proceedings and accused the audience of “supporting colonization and genocide”

Following the event, on April 10 2014, Steven’s tweeted: “LOL at Zionist trolls trying to tone police me for disrupting pro occupation pro colonization pro genocide f**kery. Whatever.”

On April 11, 2014, Stevens tweeted: “as long as a ‘state 4 jews’ equals occupation/colonization/genocide of Palestine then f**k zionism.”

On the same day, Stevens tweeted:“yes, I know exactly what genocide is. All u sneering little Zionists could do was nervously laugh and applaud at the mention of it,” she later tweeted: “I have pride in waking up everyday knowing I'm not Zionist scum who supports genocide and annihilation of Palestine.”

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true. 

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”  

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
