As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, leaders of the country’s fastest-growing socialist movement are not preparing to celebrate the nation; many are calling for its “empire” to be dismantled.
The quotations below, drawn from the speakers’ own posts, speeches, and recordings, present a worldview in which America is not a flawed country worth improving but a fundamentally illegitimate one in need of destruction.
The pattern is found throughout DSA leadership. A striking share of the voices below sit on DSA’s National Political Committee (NPC) — its elected national leadership — or hold elected public office.
Every quote is verbatim. Titles reflect each speaker’s documented role. Where a direct post link was available, it is given; otherwise, the link goes to the speaker’s collated public profile.
