Reihan Ahmed
Overview
Reihan Ahmed has expressed support for terrorists, called for Israel’s destruction and spread hatred of Israel as a campus activist and protest speaker. In Fall 2019, Ahmed was listed [slide 10] as treasurer of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (John Jay SJP), for the 2019-2020 academic year. John Jay is part of the City University of New York (CUNY), which is located in New York, New York.
Ahmad is affiliated with the pro-terror activist group Within Our Lifetime (WOL). She is also a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of April 2024, Ahmed’s LinkedIn profile said she was an “Immigration Legal Intern” at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) from January to June 2023. She had also been a “Resettlement Intern” at IRC from January 2022 to June 2023.
As of June 2023, Ahmed’s LinkedIn said she studied “International criminal justice and Fraud Examination” as well as “International Relations and Affairs” at John Jay. She was listed [p. 17] online as having graduated from John Jay with a bachelor’s degree in 2023.
5/28/2021 - Support for Terror & Israel’s Destruction
On May 28, 2021, Ahmed was featured as a speaker at a WOL rally on the John Jay campus titled: “CUNY Rally For Palestine.” During the rally, she spread hatred of Israel and called for Israel’s destruction by reading a pro-terror and pro-BDS statement that praised “the Palestinian people and our resistance.”Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti- Semitic violence.
The rally was held one week after the end of Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against terrorists in Gaza.
In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
At the rally, Ahmed reportedly “read out” a “letter of support to the CUNY campaign” issued by “Palestinian student and youth organizations inside occupied Palestine.” The statement accused Israel of “occupation, apartheid and settler colonialism” and maintaining a “siege for over 14 years” on Gaza.
The United Nations approved [pp. 39–41] the Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza in 2011 as a security measure to stop Hamas from acquiring sophisticated rockets. Multiple flotillas have attempted to breach the blockade, with at least one flotilla initiating a violent confrontation with Israeli forces.
The letter further read: “We join you in demanding that CUNY immediately divest from corporations that aid the colonization, war crimes and occupation directed against the Palestinian people. We further demand the full implementation of the academic and cultural boycott of Israel.”
The letter concluded: “We stand with you today in your campaign as you stand with us, the Palestinian people and our resistance, on the road to victory, liberation and return for Palestine, from the river to the sea.”
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.
11/15/2019 - Hatred of Israel at a Pro-Terror WOL Rally
On November 15, 2019, Ahmed participated in a WOL rally titled: “EMERGENCY ACTION FOR GAZA.” WOL co-organized the rally with other anti-Israel groups and it was promoted as an “International Day of Solidarity With The Palestinian Resistance.” The rally took place in Times Square in Manhattan, New York.In November 2019, Israel launched Operation Black Belt to stop rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel. From November 12 to November 14, 2019, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror group sent hundreds of rockets into Israel, targeting major civilian population centers.
At the rally, Ahmed joined other anti-Israel protestors in chanting [00:00:01]: “Justice is our demand, no peace on stolen land!”
At the rally, protesters reportedly called “for the boycott of Israel and a liberated Palestine from the river to the sea.”
Among the other co-organizers was Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network (Samidoun), which the Israeli government lists as a terror group. During the protest, Samidoun’s American coordinator Joe Catron urged anti-Israel demonstrators to continue “these activities against Zionist occupation, apartheid and colonization and in support of the Palestinian resistance.”
Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.
Anti-Israel Activism (SJP)
On February 4, 2020, John Jay SJP posted [slide 1] on Instagram a photo featuring Ahmed tabling for the SJP booth at a club fair event. She was joined by fellow John Jay SJP executive board members Nora Abuhamdeh, Lena Ghrama and Gary Singh. On October 29, 2019, Ahmed posed [slide 1] for a group photo at a John Jay SJP panel event titled: “The Struggles of Student Activism in Post Truth Times.” The event featured John Jay SJP founder Leena Widdi.
On October 22, 2019, Ahmed ran [slide 10] an SJP event titled: “What’s the Tea?” She was joined by Abuhamdeh and Singh.
On September 26, 2019, Ahmed posed [slides 1, 3] in a group photo at an SJP general meeting.
On September 4, 2019, John Jay SJP posted [slides 1, 5, 6] on Instagram photos featuring Ahmed as the treasurer [slide 10] tabling for the SJP booth at a club fair event.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
WOL
Within Our Lifetime (WOL) is a pro-terror activist group in New York City dedicated to Israel’s destruction within the lifetime of its members.Acts of violence and physical confrontations with police have frequently occurred at WOL protests and marches. WOL uses harassment campaigns to target pro-Israel organizations or companies that do business with Israel, making it a part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Multiple activists who have either burned Israeli flags or led chants at WOL rallies were later jailed for violent anti-Semitic hate crimes, including Saadah Masoud and Waseem Awawdeh. In Masoud’s case, he received 18 months in jail for an anti-Semitic assault at an April 2022 WOL rally and two other anti-Semitic assaults in 2021.
WOL promotes “resistance” against Israel “by any means necessary,” calls to “Globalize the Intifada,” spreads incitement and idolizes [00:34:06] Palestinian terrorists like Leila Khaled and others at rallies and online events.
WOL was founded by Nerdeen Kiswani and Dan Cione in 2015. Kiswani is a frequent speaker at WOL rallies where she has promoted terrorism against Israelis and called for the death of Zionists. She has also provided support for Masoud and other activists following their arrests.
WOL began as the New York City chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), going by NYC SJP, but changed its name in 2018. The group is not found to be registered in any U.S. state as a nonprofit organization under its official name. Nor is there any listing for WOL under its name on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website for tax-exempt organizations.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
