Walid Abdulaziz

Overview

Walid Abdulaziz has spread hatred of Israel and engaged in anti-Israel activism. Abdulaziz was affiliated with Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) at McMaster University (McMaster) from 2015 to 2017.

SPHR is an alternative name for Students For Justice In Palestine (SJP). For more information, see the McMaster SPHR Chapter Profile

Abdulaziz is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Abdulaziz was co-president of McMaster Muslims for Peace and Justice (MMPJ) during the 2016-2017 academic year and was on the executive team in 2015-2016. He was a member in 2018. MMPJ co-hosted multiple Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) events with McMaster SPHR between 2015 and 2017.

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is presented as “an international series of events that seek to raise awareness of…Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people” and build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

On May 31, 2014, Abdulaziz tweeted that he would be studying medical radiation at McMaster for the next four years.

In March 2020, Abdulaziz’s Facebook profile photo indicated that he had graduated from McMaster.

As of October 2023, Abdulaziz’s Facebook said he lived in Hamilton, Ontario.

As of the same date, Abdulaziz went by the username “Walid” and used the handle “@waloudiii” on Twitter.

Abdulaziz also spread anti-Semitism, terror support and violent hatred of Israel during his pre-university years.

Hatred of Israel

Abdulaziz retweeted a January 15, 2019 tweet that said: “Justin Trudeau is so strongly opposed to BDS because he says it opposes Canadian values. Which is accurate, because genocide, land dispossession, white supremacy and violence are all at the centre of our so-called values. Settler states stick together.”

On September 27, 2016, Abdulaziz tweeted in reference to former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres’s death: “Shimon Peres is no less a war criminal than [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, may he rot in Hell.”

On January 8, 2015, Abdulaziz tweeted: “ ...for the past 67 years Israel have never been forced to answer questions about their illegal occupation, ethnic cleansing etc.”

Anti-Israel Activism

On March 16, 2017, Abdulaziz indicated on Facebook that he attended a McMaster SPHR event for Israeli Apartheid Week, titled: “From Intifada to Liberation: Defeating Colonialism and Imperialism.”

The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.

On March 8, 2017, Abdulaziz indicated on Facebook that he attended a McMaster SPHR film screening event, titled: “Israeli Apartheid Week: The Lab.”

The Facebook event description said: “‘Since 9/11, the Israeli arms industries are doing bigger business than ever before. Large Israeli companies develop and test the vessels of future warfare, which is then sold worldwide by private Israeli agents, who manipulate a network of Israeli politicians and army commanders, while Israeli theoreticians explain to various foreign countries how to defeat civil and para-military resistance.’”

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

On March 9, 2016, Abdulaziz indicated on Facebook that he attended an IAW event titled “Apartheid: Live!” hosted by McMaster SPHR.

The event featured a “mock apartheid wall” labeled “Barrier to Peace” and infographics that called Gaza “An Open Air Prison.”

The “mock apartheid wall” is a series of panels meant to represent Israel's security barrier, which was built as a deterrent to Palestinian terror attacks and in response to Palestinian sniper attacks. Panels feature misleading information and graphics intended to demonize Israel. The “mock apartheid wall” is often featured at Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) events organized annually by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapters on many North American university campuses.

On March 22, 2015, Abdulaziz tweeted: “I am voting Yes to BDS…”

In the same thread, he tweeted: “...I plead all McMaster Undergraduate students to come tomorrow, 4pm in Burridge Gym. Show up and speak out.”

OnMarch 23, 2015, the McMaster Student Union (MSU) voted in favor of a BDS resolution at its annual General Assembly. The vote was the culmination of a BDS campaign organized by student groups including McMaster SPHR and MMPJ

Also in March 2015, Abdulaziz indicated on Facebook that he attended two IAW events.

Pre-University Anti-Semitism

On July 16, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: ‘“@Fat_K411: What's the difference between Santa and yahoodi Santa? Yahoodi Santa goes UP the chimney with your gifts’ LMFAAAOO.”

On March 22, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “KHARA [S**T] ON THE YAHOUD [JEWS].”

On February 16, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “the israelis control every part of the american government.”

The “Israel Lobby” is a conspiracy theory alleging Israeli and Jewish control over the U.S. government. Proponents of the theory decry the negative effects on American interests, particularly in foreign policy.

The assertion that Jews secretly control Western governments through banking and media has been traced to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic fabricated text that depicts wealthy Jews conspiring to take over the world.

On the same date, he tweeted: “you fools that didnt know that every position in power is owned by a zionist.”

On February 4, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “Good bye the penny, you willl be missed, mostly by the ya7ood [Jews].”

On October 29, 2012, Abdulaziz tweeted: “falastine ibladna wel ya7ood eklabna [Palestine is our land and the Jews are our dogs].”

On May 19, 2012, Abdulaziz tweeted: “fckin ya7ood [Jews].”

Pre-University Terror Support

On April 4, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “we are Palestinians. we will all resist. #3rdIntifada.” The tweet included a photo of Palestinians marching, wearing and holding Hamas flags.

Pre-University Violent Hatred of Israel

On July 1, 2014, Abdulaziz tweeted: “Theres Israeli flags at every match lol allah yo5dkun [allah will take them].”

On April 16, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “Curse every Zionist since Theodor Herzl.”

On March 21, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “What would you change in this World? — existence of Israel http://ask.fm/a/338eejd4.”

On January 5, 2013, Abdulaziz tweeted: “you wanna do something about the killing of innocent children? eliminate Israel that should do it.”

On November 11, 2012, Abdulaziz tweeted: “why the khara [sh*t] is a friend of an israeli solider/mossad agent following me? ill kill you with my rocks.”

On October 11, 2012, Abdulaziz tweeted: “false, the greatest source of terrorism in the middle east or even in the world is israel not iran.”

On October 2, 2012, Abdulaziz tweeted: “zionism is a cancer.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

On April 27, 2012, Abdulaziz tweeted: “if you want to eliminate terrorism you might as well start by eliminating Israel.”

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
