Ameen Abdel-Khalek
Overview
Ameen Abdel-Khalek is a member of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at UTK (SJP UTK).
Abdel-Khalek is a supporter of the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. On October 10, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared a video on Facebook that misrepresented the origins of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in order to promote the BDS agenda.
In August 2016, Abdel Khalek tweeted condemning dialogue with Israelis and even shaking hands with Israeli Olympic athletes. He tweeted — “If you condemn the action of the Egyptian not shaking hands with the Israeli. Then you are the problem. I wouldn’t even compete against one.”
Abdel-Khalek was a student at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) and vice-president of the Sigma Alpha Lambda chapter at UTK.
As of June 2019, Abdel-Khalek’s Facebook page featured a photo of him in a graduation robe and cap.
Propagating Anti-Semitic Blood Libels and Stereotypes
On November 15, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared on Facebook an anti-Semitic caricature of a Jew with a big nose, portrayed depicted as swindling land from a Palestinian Arab.
On June 15, 2015, Abdel-Khalek tweeted a picture of someone drinking from a bottle with a Starbucks logo — with a banner reading "Drinking Palestinian blood."
Jewish-owned Starbucks has been targeted by BDS supporters, who claimed that Starbucks donated money to Israel. The organization has also been targetted by anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists who have echoed the incendiary Medieval blood libel that Jews used the blood of Christian children to bake Matzah for Passover.
Spreading the Terrorist Organization Hamas’ Propaganda
Abdel-Khalek has repeatedly retweeted material from the official Twitter accounts of the designated terrorist organization Hamas. Even after Abdel-Khalek was exposed on the Canary Mission website in the beginning of August 2016, he continued to retweet official Hamas tweets.
Hamas — designated a terrorist organization by the United States, Canada, the European Union, Australia, Israel, Egypt and Japan — has developed a sophisticated digital media propaganda strategy.
On June 15, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a propaganda tweet from Hamas’ English-language Twitter account that promoted serial falsehoods and deceptions. The tweet claimed — fraudulently — to list "10 facts about Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. http://hamas.ps/en/post/425/."
On March 22, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet from Hamas’ English-language Twitter account — "When will Hamas give up its armed struggle? Watch this debate b/w Sheikh Yasin [sic.] and a foreign reporter…"
On June 13, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet from the Hamas Arabic-language Twitter account — the official Twitter account of the terrorist organization — condemning the election of Israel's representative at the United Nations, Danny Danon, as chairman of the UN Legal Committee. The tweet said : "Israeli occupation’s nomination" to head the committee was “a disgrace” to the United Nations allowing Israel “to continue the policy of terrorism against the Palestinian people.”
On May 29, 2015, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet from Tayseer Seminary’s liaison to the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at UTK (UTK MSA), Abdalla Husain, who tweeted — “Dear God, if one more person tells me that Israel is oppressed by Hamas, I might actually die from second hand stupidity. #FreePalestine.”
Disseminating Content from a Radical Islamist Leader
On April, 21, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet by the anti-Semitic Islamist leader Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi is the president of the European Council for Fatwa and Research. The Wall Street Journal reported that the council has used the anti-Semitic Protocols of the Elders of Zion as a basis for some of its legal-theological deliberations.
In a January 9, 2009 sermon shown on Al-Jazeera, Qaradawi prayed: "O Allah, take this oppressive, tyrannical band of people. O Allah, take this oppressive, Jewish Zionist band of people. O Allah, do not spare a single one of them. O Allah, count their numbers, and kill them, down to the very last one."
Fomenting Anti-Semitic Incitement
On January 4, 2016, Abdel-Khalek tweeted: "Saudi Arabia does mass execution and the world freaks out. Yet westerners and Zionist pigs have been executing twice as many MUSLIMS."
On September 29, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared a cartoon on Facebook depicting former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon visiting the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in 2000. The cartoon portrayed Sharon facing a horse carrying the Palestinian flag, while kicking rocks at Sharon. A second photo below showed the horse chained to the ground, unable to stop three caricatured Jews, including one holding a Menorah, advancing towards the Al Aqsa Mosque.
The post aimed to perpetuate the libel that Israel intended to desecrate the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. That fraudulent claim, spread by Palestinian leaders, led directly to deadly anti-Semitic violence.
In October of 2015, a wave of religiously incited terrorist violence — known variously as the "Knife Intifada" or the “Stabbing Intifada” — spread across Israel. In hundreds if attacks, Palestinian radicals succeeded in stabbing and hacking to death scores of Israeli civilians.
The "threat" of “attacks Al Aqsa” has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews well before the existence of Israel.
Homophobic and Transphobic Incitement
In April 19, 2016, Abdel-Khalek tweeted "If only people here cared as much for children dying in Syria Palestine Iraq instead of f**king faggot rights maybe wed get somwhere in life."
On December 18, 2015, Abdel-Khalek tweeted "Transphobic? Are we making up words now. Come on niggas you got me f**ked up if Im gonna acknowledge a transgender. Seriously shoot me if I do."
On June 23, 2016 Abdel-Khalek tweeted a drawing of a baby locked in a cage with an adult speaking to the child from outside "You can come out when you’re done being a little faggot."
On October 19, 2014, Abdel-Khalek tweeted a picture of Spiderman with the caption "This is exactly the kind of sh** that makes people think you’re a faggot."
On June 15, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet by fellow UTK student Jesse West, that read: "Gay Pride = Liberal Fascism."
Demonizing Israel and Whitewashing Terrorists
On October 14, 2015, Abdel-Khalek attended an anti-Israel demonstration. The event was part of an "International Day of Action on College Campuses" called for by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). Details for the event on Facebook deceptively invited students to rally “in solidarity with Palestine as violence against Palestinian youth, civilians, and holy places is increasing in the West Bank.”
During October 2015, Palestinian radicals across Israel stabbed and hacked to death scores of Israeli civilians, in a wave of religiously incited terrorist violence known variously as the "Knife Intifada" or the “Stabbing Intifada.” The attacks were sparked and fueled by the libel that Israel intended to desecrate the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The fraudulent claim, spread by Palestinian leaders, led directly to deadly anti-Semitic violence.
One protester at the rally held a sign that read — fraudulently: "Palestinian child shot dead by Israel’s illegal occupation clutching onto his last breath. Israelis stand by and chant “die, die you son of a b**ch, die"!”
The sign referred to Ahmed Manasra.
Ahmed Manasra (sometimes spelled Mansara) and his 15-year-old cousin Hassan went on a stabbing spree in Jerusalem on October 12, 2015, during the Knife Intifada. They critically wounded a 13-year-old boy and moderately wounded a 25-year-old man. The spree ended when police shot Hassan and a passing motorist hit Ahmed. Ahmed was taken to an Israeli hospital. He admitted to investigators: “I went there to stab Jews.” He was later tried and convicted on two counts of attempted murder.
On October 13, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared a photo of the Manasra incident with an incendiary, fraudulent, caption that inverted the true story, reading: "Murder in the Holy Land" and “Executed in cold blood by ‘Israel’ today! Stop this Zionist killing spree!”
On October 4, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared on Facebook a screenshot of terrorist Fadi Aloon's last Facebook post where he posted "Either martyrdom or victory." Aloon was shot later that day by Israeli security forces, after he tried to stabbing to death a 15-year-old Israeli boy.
Denying Jews The Right to Live in Israel
On July 20, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared on Facebook a photo of a Palestinian Arab telling Israeli soldiers to go back to Europe. The post denied the Jews’ indigenous connection to their ancestral Homeland — The Land of Israel — although it has long been recognized in International Law. The caption read: "Europe is that way, where you came from. This is Palestine."
When Jews lived in Europe, anti-Semites wrote graffiti that read "Jews go back to Palestine."
Equating Israel with ISIS and Blaming the U.S. for Murderous Political Islamism
On March 3, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared a photo on Facebook fraudulently likening Israel to the Islamist terrorist organization ISIS. The photo was of a protester holding a sign that read: "What do Israel and ISIS have in common? Each have hijacked a peaceful religion for support in furthering brutal and inhumane political ideologies."
On November 15, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared a photo on Facebook of former U.S. President George Bush and former U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney above another photo of what appear to be a family of religious Muslim refugees or immigrants, with the misleading caption "They didn’t create ISIS, We did." The deposing of Saddam Hussein did not spawn the ideology of global jihad; nor did it cause the Islamism that animates ISIS’ drive to form an Islamic Caliphate.
Demonizing The U.S-Israel Relationship
On April 28, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton licking an Israeli soldier's boots. Trump says "I love Israel" while Clinton says “No I love Israel more.” The text of the tweet read: “The only difference is one kissing the right side, and the other kissing the left...#apartheidisrael #BDS”
On November 17, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared an image on Facebook of a U.S.-Israel handshake with blood dripping from their hands onto a map of Syria.
Spreading Deceptive Propaganda
On May 30, 2015, Abdel-Khalek shared on Facebook a post by the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). ISM has been accused of supporting terrorism and it encourages its foreign volunteers to act "as human shields in cities, towns and refugee camps."
The post included photos of a Palestinian girl known in the media as "Shirley Temper" — whose real name is Ahed Tamimi — holding up a red card to Israeli soldiers. Tamimi has appeared in many other staged productions— also eventually exposed as propaganda.
Ahed is a relative of relative of Ahlam Tamimi.
Ahlam Tamimi is reportedly a Hamas terrorist who masterminded the 2001 suicide bombing at Jerusalem’s Sbarro cafe, which murdered 15 people, including eight children, and wounded 130. Tamimi later boasted of her role in committing the bombing.
Promoting Anti-Semitic British Labour Party Leader
On July 6, 2016, Abdel-Khalek retweeted a tweet linking to a videotaped speech by British Labour party leader, Jeremy Corbyn.
Approximately 50 members of Jeremy Corbyn’s party were quietly suspended from the party due to their anti-Semitic comments exposed on social media.
In 2012 Corbyn invited Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the extreme wing of the Islamic Movement in Israel, to Parliament and described Salah as "a very honored citizen."
Salah's record included endorsingthe conspiracy theory that was started by Syria’s government-owned newspaper, Al Thawra, about Jews being warned not to come to work at the Twin Towers on September 11. In a 2007 sermon, Salah also repeated the medieval European blood libel that Jews use the blood of gentile children to make matzah, for Passover.
In another incident, Corbyn stated he looked forward to hosting "our friends from Hezbollah" at an event at Parliament, and described that group and Hamas as being “dedicated toward bringing long-term peace in the entire region.”
Although he eventually expressed regret for those statements — during an investigation on anti-Semitism in his party in July of 2016 — Corbyn went on to back-handedly compare Israel’s government to ISIS.
In October 2020, Corbyn was suspended from the Labour Party after he downplayed a report that found the party “did not do enough to prevent anti-Semitism and, at worst, could be seen to accept it".
SJP UTK
The leadership and general membership of SJP UTK is fraught with virulent anti-Semites, Hitler and Nazi sympathizers, promoters of terrorist incitement, homophobes and bigots. These individuals propagate Jew-hatred, often — but not always— under the guise of attacking "Israelis" and “Zionists.”
SJP UTK Members - Spreading Homophobia and Transphobia
On June 12, 2013, SJP UTK member Mohamed Ali — who also ran for the position of UTK MSA Public Relations Head — tweeted: "you feggity feg feg. I have so much sweg on my dik biches melt for me.... — Briana why u such a salty fag lol http://ask.fm/a/4iballkc."
SJP Members - Praising Hitler and Promoting Jew-Hatred
On August 29, 2012, SJP UTK member Mohamed Ali — who also ran for the position of UTK MSA Public Relations Head — tweeted: "Had to write about a leader for DCL class. Wrote about Hitler. Cuz he's a boss."
On March 15, 2014, Ali tweeted:"Im gonna put #PeaceInTheMiddleEast, #ThotNation, &#FreePalestine at the end of my senior quote. The last 1 as a f**k u 2 the Jewish teachers."
On July 31, 2013, Ali tweeted — "Make like a Jew and take control."
On August 15, 2015, SJP UTK member Jenine Omari liked a tweet by UTK MSA member and virulent anti-Semite, Eyad Hijer, who tweeted — "F**k Jews."
Stori Nuri — a co-president of UTK MSA and president of SJP UTK on January 22, 2015, tweeted — "‘Jew test: throw a pen and if they pick it up they're a Jew’!"
SJP UTK Member - Propagating Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories
On July 27, 2012, SJP UTK member Mohamed Ali — who also ran for the position of UTK MSA Public Relations Head — tweeted: — "Zion or Zionism, is the belief that Jews are the rightful inhabitants or Israel/Palestine. Lol Illuminati."
On July 5, 2014, Ali tweeted — "When it comes down to it, Israel is the world's super power, not the USA. They control everything behind the curtains...they control so much from the film industry to franchises to pentagon communications to Wall Street to White House lobbies."
On the same day, Ali tweeted — "I'm not surprised. America d**krides Israel so hard. They're scared. Israel controls them."
On June 17, 2013, Ali tweeted — "I feel like all the current problems in the world are linked to the U.S, Israel, & all their d**kriding countries- most of Europe."
SJP UTK Leaders - Spreading Hatred of Israel and Zionists
Stori Nuri — president of SJP UTK and a co-president of UTK MSA — tweeted on April 6, 2016: "Your daily reminder that Israel is a piece of s**t."
On April 7, 2015, SJP UTK member Mohamed Ali — who also ran for the position of UTK MSA Public Relations Head — tweeted — "I feel so incredibly irritable right now. No idea why...Just feel like kicking a Zionist tbh."
SJP UTK Founder - Calling for a Third Intifada
On December 8, 2013, Amira Sakalla the founder of SJP UTK tweeted — "“@PalAnonymous: Today marks the 26th anniversary of the First #Intifada #Palestine " About time for another one..” More than 10,000 Israelis were maimed or murdered by the Palestinian terrorist violence of the First and Second Intifadas — mostly in the suicide suicide bombings that characterized the Second Intifada.
SJP UTK Leader - Glorifying Anti-Semitic Terrorist Incitement
On October 16, 2015, Fatima Itmaizah, the vice presidentof SJP UTK, updated her Facebook profile picture to a graphic promoting violence against Jews. It suggested that Jewish presence on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is akin to a peel that needs to be cut way with a knife. The image depicted the Dome of the Rock, appearing as a fruit covered in blue skin, emblazoned with a star of David, a Jewish symbol. The picture showed the blue skin being cut and peeled away with a knife — blood dripping down the hand of the peeler as the blade stripped away the peel.
In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians. The attacks were incited by Palestinian leaders propagating the libel that Israel intended to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
SJP UTK Member - Drawing Inspiration From Advocates of Genocide
On September 10, 2015, Abdalla Husain — the Tayseer Seminary’s liaison to UTK MSA, and member of SJP UTK, tweeted — "I HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY AS YASSER ARAFAT!!!!!!!!!!! #PALESTINE #AAAYYWAAAAAAA I am very happy right now !"
Yasser Arafat was the former leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and is known by some as the “father of modern terrorism.” Arafat reportedly told Arab diplomats in a secret meeting in 1996: "We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion. Jews will not want to live among Arabs. I have no use for Jews. They are and remain Jews."
SJP UTK Member- Likening Israel to Nazi Germany
On July 21, 2014, Abdalla Husain — the Tayseer Seminary’s liaison to UTK MSA, and member of SJP UTK, — who serves to link MSA with other community efforts in Knoxville — compared Israel to Nazis, tweeting — "Like father like son. Germany in the 30s and 40s is Israel now."
SJP UTK - Hosting Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theorist Alison Weir
On April 18, 2013, SJP UTK hosted a speaking event featuring anti-Israel agitator Alison Weir..
Weir is the founder and executive director of the anti-Semitic organization If Americans Knew (IAK). She has reportedly been “a repeat guest of white supremacist Clay Douglas on his hate radio show.” The Anti Defamation League (ADL) has exposed Weir’s propagation of numerous anti-Semitic and anti-Israel conspiracy theories.
SJP UTK - Promoting Terrorist Incitement as "Education"
On November 13, 2014, SJP UTK posted on Facebook a flyer promoting two Palestinian students hosted by SJP UTK as part of Birzeit University’s so-called "Right to Education" tour. The program served to whitewash the incitement to anti-Semitic violence that passes for education under Birzeit’s auspices.
In September of 2014, pro-Palestinian Haaretz reporter Amira Hass was thrown off of Birzeit’s campus — because Hass is Jewish.
In 2014, the Right to Education tour deceptively claimed on Tumblr that Israeli efforts to combat incitement to terrorist violence on Palestinian university campuses violated Palestinian rights, stating:"Israeli military systematically obstructs education in the West Bank and Gaza, which violates the human rights of individuals and also impedes the development of Palestinian society."
Birzeit University’s student body has been ridden with terrorists since at least 2003. The student government race that year featured models of exploding Israeli buses — as parties competed on the basis of which Palestinian faction had killed the most Israelis.
In 2015 and 2016, Birzeit University students elected Hamas’ student wing to power. As a result, Bilal Barghouti — who is serving 16 life terms in prison for his role in a series of suicide attacks against Israel — was made the "Honorary Chairman of the Bir Zeit University Student Council." Bilal Barghouti was the senior terrorist behind the Sbarro cafe bombing — which specifically targeted religious Jewish patrons and murdered 16 people — including 8 children and a pregnant woman — and wounded 130.
Birzeit University's Fatah-affiliated students also embrace terror. The Shabiba student group, in December 2015, posted Facebook pictures of themselves beside a Christmas tree adorned with the portraits of terrorist murderers — including one who had recently stabbed four Israeli civilians. The terrorists whose images decorated the Christmas tree were collectively responsible for thousands of murderous attacks against Israelis. Behind the Birzeit students was a sign that proclaimed: "The way to freedom is a bullet and a martyr... a crescent and a cross; Merry Christmas, [Fatah's] Shabiba student movement, Birzeit University."
In the autumn of 2015, Hamas incitement propaganda fueled and celebrated a wave of religiously incited terrorist violence, known variously as the "Knife Intifada" or the “Stabbing Intifada,” when Palestinian radicals across Israel stabbed and hacked to death scores of Israeli civilians.
In January of 2016, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) swept Birzeit’s campus, seizing Hamas propaganda. The University characterized the sweep as a "belligerent ...attack on the university and our right to education and all the principles involved in the freedom of education."
Another Palestinian university participating in the Right to Education campaign is Al Quds university. Brandeis University terminated its relationship with Al Quds in 2013, after Islamic Jihad held a Nazi-themed demonstration at Al Quds. After Brandeis’ president Lawrence contacted Al-Quds President Sari Nusseibeh and requested that he publish an unequivocal condemnation of the demonstrations. in both Arabic and English, Al Quds’ administration responded by skirting the issue and complaining of "vilification campaigns by Jewish extremists with the purpose of discrediting [the university’s] reputation."
Yet another terror-supporting Palestinian university participating in the Right to Education initiative is Al Najah University (Al Najah). Al-Najah — the largest Palestinian university in the West Bank — remains notorious for its triumphal exhibit lauding the Sbarro cafe suicide bombing.Al-Najah’s exhibit featured a mock-up of Sbarro’s, including gnawed pizza crusts and bloody plastic body parts suspended from the ceiling, as if they were blasting through the air.
SJP UTK - Lying to Demonize Israel
On March 2, 2016, as part of Israeli Apartheid Week, SJP UTK featured a mock apartheid wall.
The display misrepresented Israel’s security fence — built as a non-violent deterrent to Palestinian terrorist attacks carried out by Palestinian suicide bombers. The display also lied that Israel’s barrier was "25-feet high, and 403 miles long." In fact, 97% of Israel’s fence is a low chain link barrier. The atypical concrete portions of the fence were built only in response to Palestinian sniper attacks. The mock wall text also lied that “1661 KM of roads were only accessible by Israeli settlers.”
The display falsely accused Israel of practicing apartheid. The mock wall also featured a deliberately misleading map of Palestine, with the terror-whitewashing headline "To Exist is to Resist." SJP UTK’s map is similar to another widely debunked map — dubbed “The Map That Lies” — that fraudulently presented lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt, and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land,” purportedly stolen by Israel.
SJP used the deceptive mock wall display as a tool to promote a boycott of Sabra Hummus, an Israeli-owned hummus brand, owned by the Osem group. Writing on the wall called for stores to "deshelve" Sabra.
SJP UTK - Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany
On January 16, 2015, SJP UTK retweeted an anti-Semitic tweet that read: "Zionism is Terrorism," featuring an iconic photo of a Jewish child held at gunpoint by a Nazi soldier during the Holocaust, next to a photo of a Palestinian child being arrested by the IDF. The caption on the SJP montage read: “They Act Like NaZis, Because They WERE The NaZis.”
"Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis" is a contemporary manifestation of anti-Semitism as defined by the U.S. State Department.
SJP UTK - Promoting Libels at Demonstrations
On July 18, 2014, SJP UTK co-hosted a demonstration with the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at UTK, (UTK MSA), opposing Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE). Israel launched OPE to destroy Hamas attack tunnels and stop Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza targeting Israeli civilians. Hamas increased suchrocket attacks dramatically following Israel’s crackdown on Hamas in Judea and Samaria — after a Hamas cell kidnapped and murdered three Israeli high-schoolers on June 12, 2014.
The Facebook announcement for the demonstration deceptively claimed "Israel has targeted homes, HOSPITALS, mosques, and other civilian infrastructure. These crimes must be exposed to the world!"
This deception was compounded by at least two signs featured at the demonstration. One sign read fraudulently: "The USA funds Israel to Bomb Gaza’s hospitals." A second sign lied: “58 Palestinian Children Murdered by Israel.”
Multiple news sources exposed Hamas’ exploitation of civilian infrastructure and its use of human shields. Additionally, on August 13, 2014, the Palestinian Ambassador to the U.N. Human Rights Council, Ibrahim Khraishi admitted during a live television interview that Hamas had committed a double war crime by launching rockets at Israeli civilians, from densely populated civilian areas in Gaza — including schools, homes, mosques and hospitals — throughout OPE.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
