Saadia Khan

Overview

Saadia Khan has spread hatred of Zionists and was an activist with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Toronto Metropolitan University (SJP TMU) in 2016.

For more information, see the SJP TMU Chapter Profile. TMU was known as Ryerson University (Ryerson) until April 2022.

In June 2020, Khan posted on a TMU Facebook group that Khan was a “recent graduate from Professional Communication.”

As of August 2023, Khan was listed as an “Administrative and Social Media Assistant” on the Umbrella Mental Health Network (UMHN) website. UMHN has employed Khan since at least July 2021.

As of September 2023, Khan went by the username “saadia, allegedly” on Twitter and used the handle “@Maadarchodddd.”

Hatred of Zionists

On September 19, 2016, Khan tweeted: “The button said ‘free palestine’ on it but i didnt mention that in the speech cuz i know theres zios in my class and its a small class.”

The term "Zio" is a common derogatory reference to Zionists, as well as an often-used anti-Semitic slur among white supremacists.

Anti-Israel Activism (SJP)

On May 4, 2016, Khan promoted an SJP TMU joint event on Facebook and wrote: “May 15th is Nakba Day! Ryerson’s Students for Justice in Palestine are collaborating with the Toronto Palestine Film Festival to bring you a free screening of the film Encounter With A Lost Land…” The event was titled: “TPFF [Toronto Palestine Film Festival] Nakba Commemoration: Encounter with a Lost Land.”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

On June 4, 2016, Khan was featured in a Facebook photo with four other SJP TMU activists. The post said: “SJP sisters…”

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
