Overview
Zidane Mohamed [Zidan Mohamed] “applauded” the killing of police officers, spread hatred of Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.In 2018, Mohamed said [00:00:02] he was a “staff member” at the GSA [Government Student Association] at Carleton University (Carleton) and was listed [p. 2] as their membership coordinator in October 2017.
In May 2017, Mohamed was listed as a member of the outgoing Central Executive Committee at the Young Communist League of Canada (YCL-LJC), and was assigned to chair its Anti-Racist Commission. As of December 2016, his LinkedIn profile said he had been the “Central Organizer” of YCL-LJC since 2013.
In December 2016, Mohamed’s LinkedIn said he graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), formerly known as Ryerson University (RU), with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2015. In 2015, he was also reportedly a member of Reignite Ryerson, an “oppositional group” to the Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) at the time.
As of July 2023, Mohamed’s Twitter bio said he was a “Full Stack Developer” located in Toronto, Canada.
Also as of July 2023, Mohamed went by the username “Zidan M.” and used the handle “@Zidane_Dev” on Twitter.
“Applauding” the Killing of Police Officers
In December 2014, before launching his campaign for vice-president education of the Ryerson Student Union (RSU), Mohamed reportedly posted on Facebook: “Is it bad of me that I applaud the killing of the two cops in NYC?”
On December 20, 2014, New York Police Department officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn, New York, when they were shot at point-blank range and killed by a man who had reportedly traveled from Baltimore, Maryland, with the explicit intent to kill officers.

On April 17, 2015, Mohamed tweeted: “Choose your side, Zionist scum celebrating settler colonialism in Canada and Palestine, or pro-humanity side…” Mohamed’s tweet included one photo of protesters supporting Israel and another of protesters waving Palestinian flags.
Mohamed retweeted an October 7, 2014 tweet that featured a link to an image depicting an ISIS militant pulling off a mask of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The caption featured an Israeli flag and an ISIS flag and said: “Two sides of the same coin / Both claim the God given right to build their state.” The original tweet said: “When #ISIS and Zionism have a baby, they call it #JSIL…”
The hashtag “#JSIL” means “Jewish State in the Levant” and is used as a way of comparing Israel to the Islamic State (ISIS), also known as the Islamic State in the Levant (ISIL).
On July 25, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Mohamed tweeted a photo taken at an International Quds Day rally where protesters held up a sign that read: “STOP Massacre of Palestinian People!”
The Iranian government initiated International Quds Day in 1979, as an annual protest against Israel’s existence. The protest has historically been a platform for anti-Semitism.
On April 28, 2014, Mohamed tweeted: “...zionists always make me sad.”
