Sabrina Ghaus

Overview

Sabrina Ghaus bragged about intentionally tripping another woman, based on her race, in 2015. Ghaus was an activist with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Tufts University (Tufts SJP) in 2014.

In 2014 Ghaus led and participated in multiple Tufts SJP events that disrupted pro-Israel events or vilified Israel on Tufts’ campus.

In 2014, Ghaus also justified Hamas rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and called the Anti Defamation League (ADL) “genocidal maniacs” for supporting Israel’s immediate military steps to rescue a soldier snatched by Hamas.

Ghaus has agitated for the interruption of commerce on behalf of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. However, Ghaus suspended her support for BDS, when it impacted her personal finances. For instance, on February 3, 2015, Ghaus tweeted: “Also this company is Zionist. Why am I here again?!!! Oh right. Payin the damn rent.”

As of January 31, 2017, the website https://artplusmarketing.com/ described Ghaus as “a Pakistani American poet, activist, and community organizer raised in rural Ohio and the Bay Area, now based in Boston, MA.” As of July 12, 2017, Ghaus’ blog also listed her as a “writer, artist, storyteller, and organizer.” As of the same date, Ghaus’ LinkedIn page said she worked for the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF).

Ghaus graduated from Tufts in 2014, with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations.

Ghaus goes by the moniker “Sabrina Gouache” on Facebook.

Race-Based Hatred

On June 30, 2015, Ghaus tweeted: “today i purposely tripped a white lady who literally could not see me because as a brown woman i don't exist and am not human.”

Also on June 30, 2015, Ghaus tweeted: “@yas_maj am so into this. not moving for white people on the sidewalk is my new aesthetic.”

On January 7, 2015, Ghaus tweeted: “Anyway basically f**k the patriarchy and f**k white supremacy and seriously f**k the white moderate.”

On December 18, 2014, Ghaus tweeted: “This many white people plus me on a plane makes me nervous.”

Tufts SJP Activism Vilifying Israel

On April 25, 2014, Ghaus helped lead a Tufts SJP “crashing” of a Friends of Israel (FOI) event at Tufts.

On April 25, 2014, Tufts SJP staged a “die-in” next to a Tufts FOI event celebrating Israeli Independence Day. Hannah Freedman, a Tufts SJP activist, said that Tufts SJP “crashed” the event “with a memorial for al-Nakba,” a term defining Israel’s founding as a “catastrophe.” Tufts SJP activists laid on red cloth meant to symbolize pools of blood. On March 7, 2014, Ghaus spoke at an event featuring Tufts SJP activists speaking about their experiences during Israeli Apartheid Week.

On March 7, 2014, Ghaus appeared in numerous Tufts SJP Facebook photos documenting her participation in one of three Tufts SJP provocations that demonized Israel as an arbitrary, brutal regime.

On March 5, 2014, Tufts SJP carried out three anti-Israel provocations. First, Tufts SJP slipped leaflets into dorm rooms targeting the Jewish heritage program Birthright Israel. Second, Tufts SJP slipped mock “demolition” notices into other dorm rooms, claiming that Israel had a “project of ethnic cleansing.” Third, Tufts SJP held a “mock annexation” that purported to show Israeli soldiers violently arresting Palestinians without cause.

Numerous Tufts SJP Facebook pictures showed Ghaus dressed in military fatigues, portraying an arresting soldier.

Justifying Hamas Terror

On July 9, 2014 —  the same day that Human Rights Watch condemned Hamas’ indiscriminate rocket fire at Israeli civilians — Ghaus tweeted: ”#GazaUnderAttack
2. A ROCKET. IS NOT.  A BOMB. it is. Resistance.”

Hamas fired over 4,564 missiles and rockets — including Grad rockets — at Israeli population centers during the summer 2014 conflict

Demonizing Israel

On July 27, 2014, Ghaus tweeted: “The Zionists hv a new strategy it seems - cover up complicity w/ genocide w/ calls 2 ‘save #Gaza from #Hamas’ literally the most ahistorical.”

Israel commenced Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

On July 28, 2014, Ghaus tweeted: “#EidMubarak to all. Celebrate life in defiance of #Zionism, of #racism, of #patriarchy. They try to kill us, but our spirits live.”

On August 8, 2014, Ghaus tweeted: “Ya Allah it never ends, #GazaUnderAttack again by #israel murderers.”

On August 11, 2014, Ghaus tweeted that Israel practices “terrorism.”

On August 19, 2014, Ghaus retweeted a Spanish tweet that translates as :“Israel lives through death.  We can hear now their bombs again. Israel doesn't want to negotiate, it needs to keep stealing land and exterminating people.”

Defending Terrorist Rasmea Odeh

On August 19, 2014, Ghaus retweeted a tweet defending terrorist Rasmea Odeh, stating: “Rasmea Odeh is just the latest victim of US efforts to criminalize work for Palestinian rights #Justice4Rasmea.”

Odeh was a key military operative [00:02:08]with the terrorist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In 1969, Odeh masterminded a PFLP bombing that killed two college students in a Jerusalem supermarket. Odeh also attempted to bomb the British consulate.

Odeh confessed, in a highly detailed account, the day following her arrest. In a 2004 documentary, one of Odeh’s co-conspirators directly implicated [00:10:53] Odeh as the mastermind.

In 1970, an Israeli court tried and convicted Odeh for her involvement in both bombings and sentenced her to life imprisonment. However, Odeh was released 10 years later, in a prisoner swap and emigrated to the United States.

On November 10, 2014, a Michigan federal jury convicted Odeh for immigration fraud because she failed to disclose her prior conviction and life sentence on her immigration application. On March 12, 2015, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

In 2017, after an appeal and a lengthy court battle, Odeh admitted to immigration fraud, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship, deported to Jordan and banned from re-entering the U.S.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
