Kyle Renner
Overview
Kyle Renner has expressed a violent hatred of Jews, spread anti-Semitism and promoted hatred of Israel. Renner is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. In 2013, Renner attended an event hosted by the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).
For more information, see the SJP TMU Chapter Profile. TMU was known as Ryerson University (Ryerson) until April 2022.
In December 2016, Renner’s Twitter bio read: “24. Student. Geopolitics and social commentary” and indicated that he was located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Violent Hatred of Jews
On April 7, 2016, Renner tweeted: “‘settlers’ are no civilians. I personally don't give a rat's a** if any racist Israeli Jew gets cut.”Renner was responding to a tweet that read: “You’re openly calling for the murder of civilians…”
Anti-Semitism and Hatred of Israel
On April 19, 2017, Renner reportedly tweeted: “You defend an openly genocidal religion, Judaism. You hypocrite trash!”On April 19, 2017, Renner reportedly tweeted: “This isn’t a lie. Moses and the Israelites were genocidal freaks. Yahweh in Torah and Talmud was a genocidal monster.”
The Talmud is a fundamental text of Rabbinic Judaism and a primary source of Jewish religious law and Jewish theology.
On April 19, 2017, Renner reportedly tweeted: “Neither of these religions are remotely murder-happy as Judaism was, though. Just proportionately speaking, I mean.”
On January 24, 2017, Renner reportedly: “Zionists are Jewish Nazis, practically.”
Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.
On August 3, 2016, Renner tweeted: “Jews are not special (never were, either). They don't get to steal and ethnically cleanse and claim to be ‘the real victims’.”
On April 18, 2016, Renner tweeted: “No Palestinian has any obligation to ‘recognize’ you idiots as being ‘native’ to the Levant. Not Israel as ‘Jewish.’”
One way that anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is by claiming that Israeli Jews have no connection to the Land of Israel.
On April 10, 2016, Renner tweeted that Israel has “no inherent ‘right’ to exist…”
On April 9, 2016, Renner reportedly tweeted: “ … the problem lies with the seeming Jewish inability to not abuse or maim or murder Palestinians …”
Also on April 9, 2016, Renner tweeted: “Yiddies [Jews] aren't entitled to Palestinian land. They never were, and they never will be.”
On April 3, 2016, Renner tweeted about Israel: “...No Jew has the right to even a centimetre of the land there.” In the same thread, he wrote: “the Jews are the definitive land thieves when it comes to Palestine.”
On April 3, 2016, Renner tweeted: “Human vermin, like most Zionists.”
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
