American Muslims for Palestine: A Get-Together of Anti-Semites
American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) recently hosted a conference at Rutgers University Newark titled "Liberating Palestine: The Time Is Now."
Two-thirds of the speakers at the event are featured on Canary Mission due to their anti-Semitism, hatred of Israel or America, and/or support for terrorists. In addition, some have incited violence against Jews, disrupted a pro-Israel event or worked to promote the academic, cultural and economic boycotts against Israel.
AMP is a national anti-Israel organization that has been embroiled in many controversies related to its history of anti-Semitism and links to terror organizations and terror-financiers.
AMP leaders have spread anti-Semitism, expressed support for Hamas terrorists and praised the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and its spiritual leader. At least one AMP national board member reportedly personally raised money for Hamas, while another two board members have been linked to alleged Hamas financiers.
Who is AMP?
AMP is a rabidly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel organization that is currently being sued for terror financing. The case specifically involves funneling money to Hamas, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.
AMP is an avid promoter of the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and has spearheaded multiple BDS campaigns. In 2016, AMP was referred to in Congressional testimony as the “most important sponsor and organizer” of the radical anti-Israel and anti-Semitic campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).
As early as 2010, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) identified AMP as providing a platform for anti-Semitism. AMP has hosted many anti-Israel rallies where speakers have called for an intifada (a violent uprising).
AMP has even gone so far as to exploit Jewish victims of the Holocaust by falsely presenting them as Palestinian.
AMP'S 2023 Conference
Speakers at the recent AMP conference included:
Hatem Bazian, the founder of AMP and SJP. Bazian advocates for the dismantlement of the state of Israel and for an intifada in America. He calls the U.S. Congress “Israeli-occupied territory” and compares Zionists to Nazis.
Bazian, who is a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley in the Ethnic Studies Department, once led a protest against the arrests of 79 SJP members at UC Berkeley who attempted to disrupt a Holocaust Remembrance Day event.
Bazian was an organizer and featured speaker at a press conference to support a controversial mural at UC Berkeley depicting Malcolm X’s face surrounded by dollar signs, yellow stars of David, skulls and crossbones, and the words “African blood.” Jews were forcibly excluded from the press conference.
In the Harvard International Review, Bazian claimed that much of ancient Jewish history in the land of Israel is a “mythical past” and that the Jewish people were merely a “historical passer-by in the land.
Lamis Deek, a founder of the New York chapter of Al Awda, a virulently anti-Israel organization. Deek is also affiliated with SJP, AMP, WOL and CAIR. She is the co-founder of the US Palestine Community Network (USPCN) and the founder of Brooklyn Law School Muslim Students Association [MSA], a Muslim Brotherhood-linked group.
At a rally in May 2022, Deek declared “We love Hamas, and the PFLP, and Islamic Jihad…They are global, global heroes of the fight against imperialism. They are global agents of world peace. They are global agents of progress and humanity!”
In December 2017, Deek said, “It is the Intifada that will bring peace here in the U.S. Long live the Intifada! Long live the Intifada!!”
In May 2022, Deek said, “Israel is a global threat...Israel threatens everybody.”
Nerdeen Kiswani, the founder of the New York-based radical anti-Israel group Within Our Lifetime (WOL) as well as the New York chapter of SJP. She was also the president of City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law’s chapter of SJP.
Kiswani has incited violence against Jews in New York through WOL’s frequent demonstrations which have resulted in violent attacks on Jews.
KIswani calls for the death of Zionists, Israel’s destruction and to “Globalize the Intifada.” She advocates “resistance by any means” and has vowed to track down and “go after …Zionist settler foundations” in New York. She made good on this promise by launching the Strike MoMA campaign, which targeted trustees of the iconic Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) for their pro-Israel activism, among other reasons.
At one rally, Kiswani said, ”I hope that pop-pop is the last noise that some Zionists hear in their lifetime!” At another, she led a chant reminiscent of Nazi language, screaming, “There is only one solution! Intifada, Revolution!”
