Quran was also interviewed on CNN, on podcasts and quoted by the Washington Times for his comments regarding misleading content on Facebook ahead of the 2020 U.S. census and election.
Arrests
On November 15, 2011, Quran was arrested while riding an Israeli commuter bus in the West Bank purportedly to “challenge Israel’s regime of colonial Apartheid in Palestine.”Non-Israeli citizens, including Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, need a permit to cross the border into Israel. Quran boarded the bus without a permit.
Quran was joined by Huwaida Arraf, a co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), Nadeem Alshirbaty, co-founder of Youth Against Settlements (YAS), and Basel Al Araj.
ISM has been accused of supporting terrorism and has encouraged its foreign volunteers to act “as human shields in cities, towns and refugee camps.” ISM has also encouraged activists to break curfew and disregard Israeli directives prohibiting access to closed military zones.
YAS, an anti-Israel NGO based in Hebron, has posted photos on its Facebook page that propagate anti-Semitism, laud rock-throwing and urge its members to participate in violent anti-Israel demonstrations.
In 2017, Basel Al Araj was killed in a shoot-out with Israeli troops during an arrest raid. He had been suspected of belonging to a terror cell planning to carry out attacks on Israeli targets. Two M-16 assault rifles and an improvised Carlo-style submachine gun were found inside his home.
On February 24, 2012, Quran was reportedly arrested by Israeli security forces while protesting with Issa Amro and YAS against the closure of Shuhada Street in Hebron. That day, it was reported that “Approximately 1,000 Palestinians gathered at a number of flash-points, hurled two Molotov cocktails, set fire to a tire and bombarded security forces with rocks.”
Shuhada Street is the main road leading to the Tomb of the Patriarchs. Parts of the street were closed due to Palestinian violence during the second intifada.
Video footage of Quran’s arrest shows [00:00:30] IDF soldiers asking Quran to move back, to which Quran replied [00:00:35] in Arabic: “We don’t take orders from you. This is Palestine!” Quran was reportedly charged with “obstructing a law enforcement officer, assault and resisting arrest” and later released on bail.
On January 12, 2013, Quran tweeted that he was arrested in “#BabAlShams.” That day,Palestinians demonstrators set up a tent encampment on restricted land in the West Bank, which they referred to as “Bab Alshams.” Quran was then arrested for reportedly refusing to vacate the area.
In June 2014, Quran was reportedly arrested by the Palestinian Authority (PA) and charged with “provoking riots and the breach of public tranquility.” Quran was one of four BDS activists demonstrating against an Indian dance group that had also performed in Tel Aviv.
Support for Terrorists
On October 12, 2015, during the Knife Intifada, Quran posted to Facebook a Shehab News Agency video that whitewashed Marah Al-Bakr and demonized Israel.Marah Al-Bakri (or Marah Bakir) then 16 years old, stabbed an Israeli border police officer in Jerusalem, in October 2015.Al-Bakri also tried to grab the policeman’s weapon during her attack and was shot by another officer at the scene.
In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.
Ahmed Manasra (sometimes spelled Mansara) and his 15-year-old cousin Hassan went on a stabbing spree in Jerusalem on October 12, 2015, during the Knife Intifada. They critically wounded a 13-year-old boy and moderately wounded a 25-year-old man. The spree ended when police shot Hassan and a passing motorist hit Ahmed. Ahmed was taken to an Israeli hospital. He admitted to investigators: “I went there to stab Jews.” He was later tried and convicted on two counts of attempted murder.
Quran retweeted an October 11, 2015 tweet listing the names of Palestinians killed during the month. Among those listed were Muhannad Halabi, Amjad al Jundi and Hudhaifa Suleiman.
On October 3, 2015, during Israel’s “Knife Intifada,” 19-year-old Mohanad Halabi murdered two Israeli rabbis in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem’s Old City. The wife and child of one of the victims were also injured. The day before the murder, Halabi, a member of the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), had reportedly posted to his Facebook page: “The third Intifada is here"and "Wake up from your slumber and save al-Aqsa. Let the revolution erupt.”
In October 2015, Hudhaifa Suleiman participated in a Hamas-organized riot where “hundreds of Palestinians” rolled burning tires and threw rocks at Israeli soldiers.
Promoting Incitement
In April 2017, Quran featured as a speaker at the 2017 JVP National Member Meeting where he reportedly told JVP members to become "freedom fighters" and said that "guerilla disobedience" is needed against Israel. At the event, Quran reportedly said: “We must cross the threshold to become resistance movements. And we must realize that it’s not enough to protest anymore. We must transform the equations of power.”
Quran also reportedly said: “We’re going to occupy the occupation; we’re gonna build barricades; we’re gonna bring thousands of people there...”
On August 23, 2011, Quran tweeted a video promoting an “Olive Revolution @Thirdintifada” event, organized by a group called “Third Palestinan Intifada.” At the event, activists marched from four directions to Jerusalem in protest of “all the Israeli policies of Judaizing Jerusalem.”
Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.
On May 15, 2011, Quran organized [00:00:26] a protest at the Qalandia checkpoint during which reportedly “more than 1,000 protestors” attempted to enter Jerusalem.
In a May 17, 2011 phone interview with Democracy Now!, Quran said [00:03:48] “... if, at some point, our goals are not being achieved, if freedom still seems far away, then the pressure that we all feel as Palestinians due to Israeli oppression will likely lead us to an all-out uprising.”
Demonizing Israel
On October 26, 2019, Quran tweeted: “Israel’s desperate occupation. We have to create a term that describes the amount of hate, cruelty, and complete lack of human decency that captures Israel’s policies against Palestinians - especially those willing to fight back. Colonial-Fragility?...”On August 18, 2019, Quran tweeted: “Israel's policy towards us here, the Palestinian people, has always been: either surrender your basic rights, or we will erase you from this land.”
On March 30, 2018, Quran tweeted: “This is a nonviolent march, led by a refugee people under siege, who simply want to return to their homes. On Passover we say #Let_Our_People_Go #مسيرة_العودة_الكبري By framing it as violent yo are encouraging a violent Israeli response and thus also responsible for any bloodshed.”
March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Rioters also made numerous attempts to breach Israel’s border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire.
On November 26, 2017, Quran posted on Instagram: “If the EU wants to help us...they can help us send Israeli commanders who commit war crimes to ‘rehabilitation’ at a beautiful place called the International Criminal Court in The Hague.”
On July 13, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Quran tweeted: “Israel using #WorldCupFinal cover to attack #Gaza. Over 41 children killed since #WorldCup began. let's bring #allEyesOnGaza RT.”
Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
Endorsing Anti-Israel Agitators
On August 16, 2019, Quran tweeted: “Thank you @RashidaTlaib for staying strong and refusing to be blackmailed by Israel’s oppressive regime. You will come to Palestine and pick figs with your Siti [grandmother] - and Palestine will be free one day thanks to the courage of all those willing to stand up for justice. #LetThemIn.”Quran’s tweet referred to Israel’s decision to deny entry to U.S. Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
On February 12, 2019, Quran tweeted: “I pledge that every time I see @IlhanMN being attacked I will donate to her congressional campaign and help her in her efforts to achieve change. Let’s make the #iStandWithIlhan campaign go viral - maybe it will de-motivate those attacking her…”
Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.
In an April 5, 2018 interview, Quran defended [00:40:20] Bassem Tamimi and said [00:41:13] “I’m certain that these accusations they are using against him… is false.”
Bassem Tamimi has exploited young children as political props in staged confrontations with Israeli soldiers. In 2011, he was jailed for organizing violent rallies and inciting minors to commit violent crimes such as rock-throwing.
Tamimi’s United States visa was revoked in 2015, for his failure to disclose his prior arrest and conviction. Prior to the revocation of his U.S. visa, Tamimi delivered a controversial presentation to third-graders in Ithaca, New York. The presentation was geared to foster hatred of Israel and Tamimi concluded by encouraging [00:11:29] the children to become “freedom fighters for Palestine.”
BDS Activism
In May 2010, Quran was an organizer for Campaign Restore Hope (CRH), a coalition of Stanford students who advocated for divestment from four companies doing business with Israel. In May 2010, Quran reportedly distributed CRH petitions to campus dorms to encourage the Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) Undergraduate Senate to pass legislation urging the University to divest from the four companies. CRH later decided not to pursue divestment through the Senate due to “emotional backlash.”
On May 18, 2012, Quran participated [00:01:05] in the “Divestment Launch” event at Stanford organized by Students Confronting Apartheid in Israel (SCAI). During his remarks, Quran encouraged [00:10:29] his audience that in order to “save the lives of innocent people” they should sign the divestment petition to “suck the money out of the people that are causing the violence.”

The movement #4Freedom grows”
Promoting Anti-Israel Campaigns
He continued: “I swear here in front of all the world that I will never compromise this right and I will raise the next generation on his right to his land and return home…”
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.
On May 16, 2018, Quran tweeted: “#Palestinian_Lives_Matter — So proud that we are running this campaign! This is a watershed moment and the world needs to rise to the occasion #Time4Sanctions. Sign & RT.”
The tweet linked to an Avaaz petition titled “Palestinian Lives Matter! Sanction Israel” that read: “Sanctions on South Africa helped free its black citizens from Apartheid, it's time for the world to rally behind sanctions on Israel, until Palestinians are granted full and equal civil rights.”
On March 22, 2017, Quran was quoted in an article calling on FIFA to bar its Israeli affiliate from organizing soccer activities in the West Bank, saying: “no more FIFA games in illegal Israeli settlements built on stolen Palestinian land.”

On October 31, 2019, Quran promoted on Instagram a new virtual reality application, Palestine VR, that reportedly “delivers a 360-degree digital walkabout of the Palestinian territories based on the aborted itinerary of Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).”
Quran wrote on Instagram: “PALESTINE VR takes you around the occupied territories to see the crimes Israel tries to hide. You get a mini tour by yours truly...”
On May 23, 2016, Quran spoke at an SJP event at the Universtiy of Chicago titled: “Disrupting Israeli Apartheid: Civil Disobedience in Palestine.”
The event’s Facebook description said that Quran ran training programs to prepare Palestinians for interrogation and detention in Israeli jails.
Featured Speaker at 2025 People’s Conference for Palestine
Fadi Quran was listed as a speaker at the 2025 People’s Conference for Palestine in Detroit, Michigan.Speakers for the 2025 conference, the theme of which is “Gaza is the Compass,” include two terrorists released from Israeli prisons, as well as anti-Israel political figures Linda Sarsour, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
