Leslie Kern

Leslie Kern showed support for the pro-Hamas encampment at UofT in May 2024.

Mount Allison University (Mount A) associate professor and UofT alumna Leslie Kern showed support for the encampment by signing on to a statement put out by UofT community members in May 2024 [row 39, first from left].

Kern graduated from UofT’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) with a master’s degree in sociology and equity studies in education in 2002. She also has a bachelor’s degree from UofT.

The May 20, 2024 statement was part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The statement backed all the encampment’s demands, including divesting from the alleged “apartheid policies of the state of Israel and its ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

To show support, Kern submitted a “support selfie,” where text beside her face said: “DISCLOSE. DIVEST. CUT TIES.”

UofT is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
