Juan Lamata

Juan Lamata [Juan Pedro Lamata] participated in an anti-Israel event in Los Angeles, California, in November 2023, where he spread hatred of Israel. In 2024, Lamata was an activist with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) chapter in the city (DSA-LA).

The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

Juan Lamata also participated in mutliple DSA-LA events in 2024, including the group's annual convention.

DSA's ideology includes anti-American and abolitionist elements. DSA justified Hamas murdering 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.

DSA-LA, like national DSA, has spread hatred of America and the police. It has celebrated communism, called to destroy capitalism and defended America’s enemies. Regarding Israel, DSA-LA has expressed support for violence and called for Israel’s destruction, including on October 8, 2023.

As of July 2026, Juan Lamata was listed as an assistant professor in the Department of English at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA).

The event was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The outcome of the movement's goals would result in Israel's destruction. Within hours of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, the BDS movement renewed its call for an anti-Israel boycott.

Activists at the event held an IfNotNow (INN) banner that said: "JEWS SAY CEASEFIRE NOW! NO GENOCIDE IN OUR NAME."

The term “genocide” was coined in 1942 and first used at the Nuremberg Trials of Nazi war criminals. Since Israel's founding in 1948, anti-Israel activists have accused Israel of "genocide" in an attempt to compare Jews to Nazis and delegitimize the creation of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel.

The slogan "Not in Our Name" is used by anti-Zionist Jewish groups like Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) that reject Israel's existence. The slogan is meant to emphasize their opposition to Israeli policy and that Israel does not speak for them.
