Sarah Borus was arrested at the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia in April 2024. Borus also demonized Israel as an encampment spokesperson that same month.

Sarah Borus is a student at Barnard College (Barnard), part of Columbia, who was arrested and suspended from Columbia for her anti-Israel activism at the encampment.

During an April 23, 2024 press conference called by the encampment leaders and posted on YouTube by BreakThrough News, Borus said [00:19:37]: “The Gaza solidarity encampment is a reflection of the Jewish tradition of togetherness and liberation. I have never felt more proud to be Jewish and more in line with the values of my faith, than I was–than when I was being taken out of Columbia's lawns with my hands zip-tied behind my back alongside 107 other students risking safety and suspension in order to push our university to divest from genocide, apartheid and occupation in Palestine.”

Borus concluded [00:21:53]: “Our university profits off of this genocide and, as Jews, we will continue to fight until Columbia divests!”

On April 24, 2024, Aftonbladet, a Swedish news source, reported that Borus was arrested at the Columbia encampment on April 18, 2024, and quoted her saying: “I would do it again, for Palestine.”

The encampment was also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of November 2024, Borus’s Instagram bio indicated she was a student at Barnard slated to graduate in 2025.

Barnard is located in New York, New York.
