Marissa L. Ruiz participated in an anti-Israel event hosted by Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) in Los Angeles, California, in November 2023.

The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas in Gaza.

PSL is a self-identified American Marxist group that aims “to abolish the corrupt, rotten…capitalist…system, and replace it with…a socialist system.” PSL believes “revolution” is both “a necessity and a right” and the only means to “do away with the rule of the capitalists once and for all.”

As of August 2026, Marissa L. Ruiz's since-deleted Instagram showed a rose emoji, 🌹, indicating she was part of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

DSA's anti-capitalist ideology features anti-American, anti-police and abolitionist elements. DSA also called for Israel's destruction and justified terrorism two days after Hamas murdered 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.

As of August 2026, Marissa L. Ruiz's LinkedIn said she worked remotely as a digital marketing manager at DRIVE and was located in Los Angeles, California.

The PSL Instagram post documenting the event said: "Community members and artists gathered to create banners, placards and art pieces in preparation for the national day of action on Black Friday to shut it down for Palestine. There can be no business as usual until Palestine is free!"

“Free Palestine!” is a chant used to call for Israel's destruction, acting as a shorter version of "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!" It was shouted during multiple deadly attacks on pro-Israel activists in 2025 in America. It has been used to vandalize synagogues and other Jewish-owned property, and is described as a "battle cry for the death of Jews.”

The event was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The outcome of the movement's goals would result in Israel's destruction. Within hours of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, the BDS movement renewed its call for an anti-Israel boycott.
