The PSL Instagram post documenting the event said: "Community members and artists gathered to create banners, placards and art pieces in preparation for the national day of action on Black Friday to shut it down for Palestine. There can be no business as usual until Palestine is free!"
“Free Palestine!” is a chant used to call for Israel's destruction, acting as a shorter version of "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!" It was shouted during multiple deadly attacks on pro-Israel activists in 2025 in America. It has been used to vandalize synagogues and other Jewish-owned property, and is described as a "battle cry for the death of Jews.”
The event was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The outcome of the movement's goals would result in Israel's destruction. Within hours of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, the BDS movement renewed its call for an anti-Israel boycott.
