Maisa Hossain

Maisa Hossain participated in the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia University (Columbia) in April 2024. She filmed parts of it and posted the videos on her TikTok account on April 19 and 20, 2024.

On one of the TikTok videos, Hossain wrote: “arrest a hundred of us and another hundred will show up 🍉…” Her statement referred to the arrest of over 100 protesters at the Columbia encampment by the New York Police Department (NYPD) on April 18, 2023. They were charged with trespassing, and were suspended from Columbia indefinitely.

The watermelon has been appropriated by terrorists and anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It gained widespread popularity and usage following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.

Hossain is a supporter [slide 33] of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of January 2026, Hossain’s LinkedIn profile said she worked as a medical assistant in the Department of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine.

As of the same date, Hossain’s LinkedIn said she graduated from Barnard College (Barnard) with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in May 2024. Barnard is part of Columbia and is located in New York, New York.
