Julia Jackson [Julia D. Jackson] was arrested at the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia in April 2024. Jackson expressed support for Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, the day Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis. She has also denied Hamas war crimes and spread hatred of Israel online.

On May 20, 2024, The Freelance News reported that Jackson was arrested at the Columbia encampment in April 2024 and charged with “third degree criminal trespass…punishable by up to three months in jail, a year of probation and/or up to a $500 fine.”

Jackson was one of 13 protesters arrested at Hamilton Hall, a campus building taken over by encampment agitators, who rejected a plea bargain agreement offered by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to dismiss her case. She “Pled Not Guilty” to the charge and was slated to appear in the New York Criminal Court on January 24, 2025.

On May 10, 2024, Jackson posted on X: “‘We took Hamilton Hall because it belongs to us… / We chose action, and you must too—again, again, until the weight of our collective action and refusal dismantles the prisons and all our prisoners flood the streets. UNTIL VICTORY!’”

Jackson’s post included a link to a statement published in The New Inquiry by “The People of Hind's Hall [Hamilton Hall]” titled: “FROM HARLEM TO PALESTINE: GLOBALIZE THE INTIFADA.” The statement included images of banners hung from the windows of Hamilton Hall that said: “INTIFADA,” and “GLORY to the martyrs.”

The term “intifada” translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection” and carries the connotation of terrorist violence, including suicide bombings, hijackings, shootings and stabbings.

The Columbia encampment supported the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Columbia is located in New York, New York.
