Abraham Quraan

Abraham Quraan was arrested during a violent assault on Jewish students at a pro-Israel rally on a college campus in October 2023.

The incident occurred following a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.

Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

As of November 20, 2023, Quraan’s Facebook About page said he was located in Metairie, Louisiana.

On October 26, 2023, Quraan was filmed physically assaulting Jewish students on the Tulane University (Tulane) campus. The assaults took place during a mob attack on pro-Israel participants at an event that took place in support of Israel. Tulane is located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Quraan reportedly drove up to the rally on the college campus in a red pickup truck with his two high school-age sons standing in the truck’s bed. Quraan eventually exited his vehicle and began [00:00:01] beating pro-Israel students. Next, he took [00:00:07] his belt off with the intention of using it on rally participants.

Later that same day, Quraan was arrested and booked in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, for simple battery. His booking number was 011527954.

After the attack, Quraan appeared on TikTok, saying: “...thought you all could f**king silence me…Imma [I’m going to] always say what’s on my mind…especially now with everything going on in Gaza, the least…we can f**king do is stand up for what’s right and just, and not be silent. I don’t care if they threaten you with jail. Don’t be silent!”

According to an audio interview with one of the Jewish students who was present at the rally, one of Quraan’s sons took [00:02:10] an Israeli flag from the bottom of the truck bed and attempted to set it on fire. When a Jewish student ran to grab the flag, two adult males reportedly began attacking [00:03:08] the student. One hit him with a megaphone and the other punched him. The victim reportedly suffered a broken nose and spent several hours in the hospital.

Other anti-Israel counterprotesters were reportedly calling Jewish students “genocide supporters” and chanting: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free!”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
