Gianpaolo Baiocchi

Gianpaolo Baiocchi was arrested at an anti-Israel campus encampment in April 2024. He also justified terrorism in October 2023 and engaged in other anti-Israel activism in 2024.

The profilee's activism occurred during an extended period of global antisemitism that began with the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas.

As of January 2026, Baiocchi was listed as a member of the transition team for New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, serving on the Community Organizing Committee.

Mamdani has called for dismantling capitalism and promoted hatred of the police. He has also justified Hamas terrorism and glorified terror supporters. On his first day as mayor, he revoked executive orders designed to combat antisemitism, including increased police protection at synagogues, and nullified a ban on city officials to boycott Israel.

As of January 2026, Baiocchi was listed as a professor of individualized studies and sociology at New York University (NYU), which is located in New York, New York.

As of the same date, Baiocchi's LinkedIn said he was the director of Urban Democracy Lab at NYU and senior fellow for housing at The Action Lab.
