Daily Stormer
The Daily Stormer is a neo-Nazi, white supremacist website that publishes far-right-wing political commentary, while promoting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, Holocaust denial, racism, misogyny and homophobia.
In 2017, the Daily Stormer’s Contributions page said it is “attempting to preserve Western Civilization” and seeks “revolution through the education of the masses.”
In addition to being a platform for hate speech, the Daily Stormer has reportedly orchestrated multiple online harassment campaigns that have targeted Jews with anti-Semitic messages and memes since 2014.
The Daily Stormer also engages in outreach aiming to recruit and radicalize new, young supporters through its Stormer Book Clubs (SBC).
SBCs promote and share anti-Semitic, white supremacist and racist literature. SBC members have posted anti-Semitic fliers around college campuses, libraries, Churches, Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) and other public places throughout the United States.
In 2016, the Daily Stormer reportedly took over the white supremacist Stormfront.org to become the “most-read white supremacist website in the world.” Anglin claimed that the Daily Stormer gets “millions of visitors” per month.
The Daily Stormer was founded on July 4, 2013, by Andrew Anglin and reportedly named after the Nazi tabloid “Der Stürmer.” In 2016, Anglin wrote that his “life’s work” is making a newspaper devoted to “the agenda of reclaiming white nations for white people.”
The Daily Stormer also reportedly helped organize the “Unite The Right” rally in Charlottesville, VA. In August 2017, the site was de-platformed by their web host, GoDaddy, which stated that it would no longer host the website following an article on the site that mocked Heather Hayer.
Heyer was killed when a driver purposefully ran his car into a group that was protesting against the “Unite the Right” rally. On August 16, 2017, Anglin reportedly told the Daily Stormer readers to harass attendees of Heyer’s funeral.
Andrew Anglin is the founder and publisher of the Daily Stormer and, as of June 2020, was listed as the website’s Editor. Anglin is a self-proclaimed “Neo-Nazi White Supremacist” who has expressed violent hatred toward Jews, women and black people. Anglin has advocated for the implementation of Nazi policies and orchestrated anti-Semitic harassment campaigns that targeted Jews.
Andrew Auernheimer was the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the website in 2016 and was reportedly their webmaster in 2017. Auernheimer is known by his alias ”Weev” and is an internationally notorious hacker and internet Troll, who has called to wipe out Jews and promoted the mass murder of people who are not white. Auernheimer has also expressed violent hatred of minorities and promoted [00:31:10] rape and domestic violence.
Robert Warren Ray (Azzmador) has listed himself on Gab.com as a “Feature Writer and Man on the Ground for Daily Stormer” and as “Host of The Krypto Report,” a Daily Stormer podcast. Ray also runs SBC chapter activities, including on university campuses.
Lee Rogers has listed himself on Gab.com as a “Writer for the Daily Stormer” since 2014. Rogers has called for Jews to be put into camps, promoted the expulsion of Jews and mocked rape. He has also promoted homophobia and Holocaust denial.
Benjamin Garland has been a writer for the Daily Stormer since 2013. Garland is the author of the anti-Semitic books Merchants of Sin and White Racialism and American Nationalism. Garland has called to remove Jews from society, praised Hitler and mocked and denied the Holocaust.
Gabriel Sohier Chaput (Zeiger), who was reported to be one of “North America’s most influential neo-Nazis,” designed a banner and wrote articles for the Daily Stormer in 2016 and 2017.
Joseph Jordan (Eric Striker) was a writer in 2018.
Daniel Jeffreys was the host of “Thoughts of the Day,” that were regularly featured on the Daily Stormer from February 2016 until February 2019. Jeffreys has used the alias “Grandpa Lampshade” on multiple online platforms.
Mike Peinovich (Mike Enoch) featured on the site regularly from 2013 until 2019.
Emily Youcis produced a fundraising video for the site and has been featured on the podcast “Krypto Report.” She was also a guest on the podcast “Infostormer” in 2017 and 2018.
Sacco Vandal was a contributor and featured in 2016 and 2017. In August 2017, Vandal listed the Daily Stormer and the far-right media network The Right Stuff as “Our Friends” on his website's homepage.
Vanzetti Vandal also contributed to and featured in 2016 and 2017.
Tony Hovater reportedly co-hosted the Traditional Youth Hour podcast on Radio Stormer, the internet radio channel of the Daily Stormer, in 2015.
David Bryson is a self-proclaimed activist with the Daily Stormer in New Jersey.
As of February 2020, the Daily Stormer solicited donations directly through its website, which it claims “is 100% reader-supported.” The site stated that “Bitcoin (or other Cryptocurrency) is the Only Way to Donate.”
As of the same date, Anglin’s Gab.com bio also appealed for donations through Bitcoin.
In April 2019, Anglin reportedly told the Huffington Post: “I make [$]15,000 a week in crypto.”
On August 27, 2017, Anglin wrote a post on Gab.com providing a postal address for cash donations. Anglin wrote: “...Please remember we have a PO Box you can send cash (any currency), check, money order to: Andrew Anglin PO Box 208 Worthington, OH 43085.”
On November 16, 2019, Twitter user Neonazi BTC Tracker tweeted that Anglin had received a total of $962,372.23 worth of Bitcoin and spent $961,646.84 worth of Bitcoin, leaving a balance of $725.40 on that date.
On April 3, 2018, Anglin reportedly used “Moonbase Holdings, LLC, a shell company the Daily Stormer used to make its financial transactions look more legitimate.”
In April 2018, a filing in a lawsuit against Anglin reportedly said: “At one point it appeared that Defendant Moonbase received approximately $3,405.70 per month in credit card donations through Hatreon” and that “Since the site started accepting Bitcoin, donors have given it nearly $400,000 in the cryptocurrency.”
The legal filing reportedly noted “that The Daily Stormer has started soliciting Monero, a secretive, scandal-plagued cryptocurrency.”
Following the August 2017 “Unite the Right” rally, the Daily Stormer’s website was de-platformed by its web hosting company and its Twitter accounts were suspended.
Since August 2017, the website has been driven “off of many domain names” and struggled to remain on the internet.
On August 15, 2017, Andrew Auernheimer, the site’s webmaster, moved the site onto the dark web, where it continues to attract a significant number of visitors.
The Daily Stormer provides a platform for writers who have advocated putting Jews into camps, executing Jewish leaders and promoting the expulsion of Jews because of their “subversive and parasitical behavior,” claiming that Jews “infiltrate societies and feed off of them through trickery, scams and fraud.”
A November 22, 2015 article claimed that: “multiculturalism is good for Jews because it allows them to more easily blend in with the society that they feed and leech off of.”
A May 27, 2017 article alleged that Jews “conspire” to “accelerate” non-White immigration into the United States and use the “Holocaust’ narrative” as a “weapon to guilt-trip Whites into accepting their own ethnic displacement (i.e. genocide).”
Lee Rogers denied the Holocaust in a January 30, 2018 article, while Benjamin Garland praised Hitler in a April 20, 2017 article, saying: “us on the Alt-Right, that is – is indeed virtually identical to what Adolf Hitler and his allies believed in and were fighting for,” and that Hitler has shown them that the Jews “are not invincible – that they can be beaten.”
The Daily Stormer provides a platform for writers to spread a wide range of bigotry against minorities, women, and the LGBT community.
In a June 22, 2018, article, Lee Rogers wrote that gorillas are more intelligent than black people.
On September 25, 2017, Benjamin Garland stated in an article that black people “make everything filthy and commit a bunch of crimes” and referred to black musician Stevie Wonder as a “low-IQ jungle bunny.”
In a July 29, 2017 article, Garland referred to people from India as “dotheads” and “‘streetsh**ters.”
In a May 6, 2017 article, Gabriel Sohier-Chaput referred to Indians as “curry-munchers,” “third-world primitives” who are “basically retarded” and are “not trainable, because they have 90 point IQ’s and horrible personalities.”
In a May 6, 2017 article, Sohier-Chaput also claimed that women shouldn’t “get any ideas about getting out of the kitchen.”
In a June 10, 2016 article, Garland referred to homosexuality as “faggotry” and claimed that Homosexuals are responsible for the spread of “deadly diseases – and prey on young boys” and that “fags are disgusting.”
In a June 3, 2018 article, Rogers said that the “only reason” homosexuality “has been accepted is because of fake moral standards pushed on to us by Jews.”
In 2017 and 2018, Anglin indicated on Gab.com that he lived in Nigeria.
In April 2018, Anglin reportedly claimed he was in Cambodia.
In June 2019, the Huffington Post reported that Anglin “had been living abroad for years” and in 2012 “relocated to Russia.” It also reported that “While in Russia, Anglin frequently used the Daily Stormer to heap praise on Russian President Vladimir Putin” and “appears to have operated freely in Russia.”
