Tony Hovater

Overview

Tony Hovater was identified engaging in violence during the white nationalist ‘Unite the Right’ rally, in Charlottesville, Virginia in August 2017. He has promoted White Nationalism, glorified Nazis and spread coronavirus anti-Semitism, as well as general anti-Semitism online.

Hovater has also spread hatred of Israel, as well as bigotry on social media.

Hovater was a leader of the Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP), who reportedly co-hosted the Traditionalist Youth Hour podcast on Radio Stormer, the internet radio channel of the Neo Nazi website The Daily Stormer in 2015.

In 2018 and 2019, Hovater indicated on Gab.com that he was affiliated with the alt-right media network The Right Stuff and co-hosted a podcast streamed on the Right Stuff’s website, titled: “Action!, with Matthew Heimbach.”

In 2017, Hovater featured as a guest on The Daily Shoah (TDS) podcast, co-hosted by Jesse Dunstan and Mike Peinovich.

In 2018, Hovater featured as a guest on The Right Stuff podcast “The People's Square,” hosted by Joseph Jordan.

In 2019, Hovater was a guest on “The Paranormies Present” podcast, streamed on The Right Stuff, hosted by John Ramondetta.

In March 2020, Hovater began writing articles for National Justice, a website featuring political commentary by White Supremacists, including Joseph Jordan.

Hovater ran as a candidate for the city council of New Carlisle, Ohio, in 2016.

In November 2017, Hovater was fired from his job as a cook at 571 Grill & Draft House in New Carlisle, after the New York Times published an article about his racist views.

Engaging in Violence

On August 16, 2017, Hovater was identified on Twitter as having engaged in violence at the Charlottesville Unite the Right protest.

The “Unite the Right” rally took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, on August 12, 2017, with many far-right groups participating such as the National Socialist Movement (NSM) and League of the South (LS). White nationalist leader Richard Spencer organized the rally to protest the planned removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee. Violence erupted at the rally, with one counterprotester killed and at least 33 others injured.

Hovater was reportedly wanted for “the felony assault of Deandre Harris.” Deandre Harris was beaten by six men in a parking garage next to the police headquarters during the protest.

On November 25, 2017, the New York Times reported that after the Charlottesville rally, Hovater wrote that he was proud of the comrades who joined him there and wrote: “We made history. Hail victory.”

Promoting White Nationalism

On April 24, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Hi. I'm a public 'ethnic tribalist'. I'm an open white nationalist so I was hoping that you'd put me on the top of your list.”

On April 8, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “I'm proud to be in the fight with men like you guys...Its about the existence of our people, and a future for white children. As long as we keep pulling in people who are in this because they want to work for that goal we can't lose.”

On March 19, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “...We are still NS [National Socialist]. If it's branded differently while still maintaining what it is I don't see how that's a problem.”

National Socialism [NS], commonly known as Nazism, was the political ideology of Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers Party.

On March 17, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “I don't care what we have to call ourselves. I care about winning and helping white people.”

That same day, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “We aren't going to be explicitly NS . It's influenced my world view greatly but we don't have to advertise that way.”

On March 9, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Exercise our rights. Force the state to uphold them. If they fail sue the piss out of them. Make the enemy reveal itself not just as liberals or equality seekers or but disgusting communist antiwhite monsters. We measure the success by how much we're advancing our agenda. How many people are joining and how were forcing the Jews to show their hand. Them. Bringing shit like this helps. Radicalize people.”

That same day, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “‘you need the support of the media’
Bulls**t. You aren't going to spin being pro white and naming the jew in a way that the kike media is going to present in a favorable light. Just to be clear you're saying that talking s**t and posting n**ger memes in an echo chamber of alt right sites is the best course of action?”

Glorifying Nazis

On February 24, 2020, Hovater tweeted: “100 years ago today. Hail victory.” The tweet featured a screenshot that read: “Nazi Party / Founded February 24, 1920, Munich, Germany.”

On April 12, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “If we spent half as much time working for the movement as we do drinking and arguing we'd already have a Nazi moon base by now. JUST BE BETTER.”

On March 19, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Could you guys not be so mean about Hitler? Yeah thanks.”

As of May 14, 2018, Hovater’s Gab.ai account featured a post dated “5 months” earlier that featured a photo of Hitler with a caption that read: “With this character’s death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.”

As of May 14, 2018, Hovater’s Gab.ai account featured a post dated “5 months” earlier that read: “Merry Christmas.” The post featured a photo of Hitler receiving a gift from two Santa Clauses, at a 1937 Christmas party given by the Chief of the Chancellery in Berlin.

On November 29, 2017, Hovater featured as a guest on the Right Stuff podcast, the Daily Shoah.

During the podcast, Hovater said [00:10:05]: “I want people to be afraid of their f**king neighbors. I want them to fear every white person and think we're all f**king Nazis. And this is exactly what is happening.”

Hovater added [00:15:20]: “I am a nice guy. It's not like I go home and do like secret evil mean spirited Nazi s**t, okay, sometimes on social media, but like, we're all just normal, polite people who like want to hang out and just, I don't know, we want all the Jews and n**gers gone, right...”

On November 25, 2017, the New York Times reported that Hovater said that Hitler “was a guy who really believed in his cause… He really believed he was fighting for his people and doing what he thought was right.”

The NYT piece also said that Hovater: “declared the widely accepted estimate that six million Jews died in the Holocaust ‘overblown.’ He said that while the Nazi leader Heinrich Himmler wanted to exterminate groups like Slavs and homosexuals, Hitler ‘was a lot more kind of chill on those subjects.’”

Coronavirus Anti-Semitism

On March 19, 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, Hovater tweeted: “This is nothing short of terrorism at this point. Iran is one of the main countries being devastated by Corona but ZOG will not let up. This will lead to an even bigger outbreak in Iran, the Middle East, and potentially the world. This is evil.”

ZOG stands for Zionist Occupied Government, an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that claims Jews control western governments and is often used by White Supremacists.

Hovater’s tweet linked to another tweet that read: “The United States imposed fresh sanctions on Iran, keeping up its economic pressure campaign despite an earlier offer to help Tehran cope with the #coronavirus pandemic.”

On March 17, 2020, Hovater tweeted: “Moving to ban this at a time when our Zionist occupied government is failing during a crisis, money is being pumped to the wealthiest corporations in the country instead of to Americans in need, and people are getting nervous and desperate seems like interesting timing.”

Hovater’s tweet linked to another tweet that read: “Holocaust education organizations and Jewish groups have campaigned for decades to stop selling Hitler's Nazi manifesto online.”

On March 12, 2020, Hovater tweeted: “In the middle of a pandemic the National Guard is being deployed to protect J*ws. Not quarantine. PROTECT. What can I even say? This system exists to serve them and big capital. Big business matters. You absolutely DON'T matter. The guard isn't even for you. You get nothing.”

Hovater then tweeted a link to an article about how the National Guard was deployed in New Rochelle, New York, following a coronavirus outbreak in the city.

Spreading Anti-Semitism

On November 10, 2019, Hovater tweeted: “Jewish power is the main issue in America. Groups like AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee] and ZOA [Zionist Organization of America] are the people funding open borders candidates in both parties.”

On May 6, 2019, Hovater tweeted: “The baseline for Jews is ‘don't subvert your host nation’ and yet here we are.”

On December 14, 2018, Hovater tweeted: “The interesting take away is that most of the media, and Hollywood types that really drive at the ‘ whites are evil because of slavery’ all happen to be Jewish. Really makes you think.”

As of May 15, 2018, Hovater had shared a post that read: “If you're not sure what the Women's March was really all about, I'll tell you. It's about killing off whites so that the Jews will have a manageable stupid brown populace to impose communism on.”

As of May 15, 2018, Hovater had shared a post on Gab.ai dated “3 months” earlier that read: “The real Holocaust of the Second World War was the Allied bombing campaign against civilians...The Allies specifically targeted civilians who were in refugee areas. We will #NeverForget and #NeverForgive what the Jews ordered against our people.”

As of May 15, 2018, Hovater shared a post on Gab.ai dated “3 months” earlier, posted by David Bryson, that read: “Hey Jews- just a reminder: your Covenant with God is vanished! ‘In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.’- Hebrews 8:13.”

The post featured a graphic of Jesus dressed in a Nazi uniform with a caption that read: “The unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles. And poisoned their minds against the brothers.”

On March 13, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “ADL [Anti-Defamation League] Jews claiming that Patriot Front could potentially be behind the Austin bombings. Complete s**t. This is why we need movement unity. They're going to come for us no matter what. I'd rather promote a united front against the Jews.”

In March 2018, a series of package bombings, mostly in the Austin, Texas area, exploded, killing two people and injuring five others.

On March 6, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “I'm going to follow everyone on these block lists. If Jew loving boomers and race mixing leftists hate you then you're objectively correct with your understanding of the world.”

On January 19, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Talmudic law is literally evil.”

The Talmud is a fundamental text of Rabbinic Judaism and a primary source of Jewish religious law and Jewish theology.

On December 30, 2017, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Good evening. ZOG is real.”

On August 29, 2017, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “I wouldn't even care if [United States President Donald] Trump wasn't completely surrounded by some of the jewiest jews in the history of ZOG.”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On May 16, 2018, Hovater tweeted: “The media has been covering the EPA chief spending money on plane tickets instead of Israel killing more people in one afternoon than Assad has allegedly gassed over several years. If this were any other country America would have already invaded. Really makes you think.”

On April 14, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “You're at least critical of AIPAC right? Israel is pretty uniquely sh**ty country. Our relationship is f**king toxic to the region to say the least.”

On January 1, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Israel is the cancer. Iran is the answer.”

On December 22, 2017, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “What could be more important than destroying our relationship with the whole world to defend the illegal actions of a criminal state? It almost seems like our government is occupied by zionists 🤔🤔🤔.”

On June 11, 2013, Hovater tweeted: “jews kill/oppress Palestinians every day. USA is Israel's b**ch.”

Spreading Bigotry

On January 5, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Clown world isn't descriptive enough. We live in faggot world.”

On March 12, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “Women are the n**g*rs of the sexes.”

On April 30, 2018, Hovater wrote on Gab.com: “You mean I wasted all that time commenting ‘n**ger’ on all those football mixtape videos?”
