Tara Houska

Tara Houska participated in the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia in April and May 2024. She was also arrested in October 2023.

On April 23, 2024, Houska posted photos on Instagram of herself participating [slides 2, 3] in the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia and wrote: “Yesterday was #EarthDay…I spent it alongside good hearts doing good work, pushing for divestment from fossil fuels, from genocide…#PeopleVsFossilFuels #GazaSolidarity #Divest #FreePalestine.”

On May 16, 2024, Houska re-posted a video on Instagram featuring [00:00:01] herself at the encampment and wrote: “You can kill us, destroy our land, kidnap us, criminalize our culture, dehumanize us, romanticize us, deny us but we are peoples who know who we are. / Long live the resistance.”

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and antisemitic violence.

The encampment also supported the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Columbia is located in New York, New York.
