Salma Shawa participated in at least two anti-Israel events in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in May 2024.
The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.
As of May 2025, Salma Shawa’s Instagram bio said she was a "Palestinian content creator from Gaza" and her TikTok page said she was located in Boston, Massachusetts.

They blocked Jews from campus facilities and limited access to those with special wristbands or who said they weren't a Zionist.
