Mel Regn
Mel Regn participated in the pro-Hamas encampment at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists, launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks.

The Penn encampment was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of January 2025, Regn's LinkedIn profile said Regn had been a self-employed musician and educator in the greater Philadelphia area since 2006, and was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Also as of January 2025, Regn's LinkedIn said Regn did graduate coursework in public policy at Temple University (Temple) in 2021-2022. Temple is located in Philadelphia.
As of the same date, Regn went by the username "Mel Regn" and the handle "MG Vasio" on Regn's Facebook page.
From at least November 2022, Regn went by the username mel.kass.vasio on both of Regn's Instagram accounts.
In May 2020, Regn used the name MG Vasio.
In May 2012, Regn went by the name Melinda Gervasio.

April 27, 2024, was Day 3 of the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" at Penn, which was held to protest Israel's war against Hamas. The Penn encampment was set up by students from Penn, Temple University and Drexel University. PPC also helped promote the encampment, which was part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

On May 2, 2024, an anti-Israel protest was held at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), the eighth day of the Penn Encampment. PPC launched the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" at Penn. The encampment was set up by students from Penn as well as those from Temple University and Drexel University.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
