Lisa Ohta

In May 2024, Ohta was reportedly subpoenaed three times to appear before U.S. Congress for not cooperating with an antisemitism investigation incidents in her union.

However, on June 6, 2024, Ohta appeared [p. 10] for a sworn deposition before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. The committee has been at the helm of the congressional investigations into antisemitism at Ivy League universities and major public school districts across the country since Hamas's October 7, 2023 terror attacks.

During her deposition, Ohta was questioned [p. 10] in connection with reported incidents of "significant harassment within ALAA [of members] for taking a position against the [anti-Israel] ALAA Resolution."

The committee report referenced [p. 13] "a toxic environment within ALAA, as antisemitic communications and generalized harassment directed at ALAA members went unchecked."

The report also said [p. 19] the union established "unchecked antisemitic bullying and intimidation" under Ohta's leadership.

In November 2023, during Israel's war against Hamas and while Ohta was president of ALAA - UAW Local 2325, the chapter demanded "an end to Israeli apartheid, and a ban on the sale and transport of weapons to Israel."

On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.

In September 2025, while Ohta was president of ALAA - UAW Local 2325, the chapter signed a "resolution for an arms embargo to end the U.S.-backed Israeli occupation and genocide in Palestine."

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
