Joo-Hyun Kang

Joo-Hyun Kang has promoted hatred of the police on social media.

Kang also spread hatred of Israel during its war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

As of January 2026, Kang was listed as a member of the transition team for New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, serving on the Community Safety Committee.

Mamdani has called for dismantling capitalism and promoted hatred of the police. He has also justified Hamas terrorism and glorified terror supporters. On his first day as mayor, he revoked executive orders designed to combat antisemitism, including increased police protection at synagogues, and nullified a ban on city officials to boycott Israel.

Kang has maintained ties to anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour since at least 2013.

Linda Sarsour has been a political mentor to Mamdani since at least 2017. She has expressed support for violence in America and called for Israel's destruction. She endorsed his 2020 run to the New York State Assembly and backed his 2025 mayoral campaign, which she said received significant funding from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

As of January 2026, Kang's X said she was an organizer and acupuncturist. Her bio said that one of the groups she had organized with was Communities United for Police Reform, an activist group in New York City.

On November 2, 2023, during Israel's war against Hamas, Kang signed an anti-Israel statement accusing Israel of "colonization, apartheid, and genocide."

On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.

One way anti-Israel activists spread antisemitism is by denying Jewish history, with the aim of delegitimizing restored Jewish sovereignty, attacking Israel’s legitimacy and portraying Jews as foreign to the Land of Israel.

On April 25, 2024, during the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia University, Kang wrote in an X post that: "...Students are protesting genocide..."

There were over 200 pro-Hamas and anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America, and over 20 more globally, in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. The encampments were unofficially known as the “student intifada,” borrowing a term associated with terrorist violence.

Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and shouted anti-Semitic slogans. They occupied campus grounds, in many cases illegally, caused property damage, violently took over buildings, celebrated terrorism and promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Activists set up encampments to oppose Israel’s right to wage war against the Hamas terror group following October 7, 2023, when Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 people, including 32 American and 8 Canadian citizens. Hamas also kidnapped 252 people, including 11 Americans and the bodies of 2 murdered Canadians.

Kang reposted an October 14, 2024 post on X that accused Israel of "massacring" Gazans in a "war of extermination."
