Jomareun Richardson
Jomareun Richardson [Jay Richardson] was reportedly arrested at a sit-in during the anti-Israel encampment at Illinois State University (ISU) in May 2024.
The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.
The Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at ISU (SJP-ISU) said on Instagram that it organized the encampment, which was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
On May 3, 2024, WGLT.org reported that seven individuals, including Jomareun Richardson, were arrested and charged with trespassing, and later “suspended and restricted from participating in university activities.”
Jomareun Richardson and the other activists had gathered outside the office of ISU’s president during the ISU encampment and refused to leave despite being given “multiple warnings about the ‘consequences for remaining’ past closing time.”
The encampment was part of a national movement on college campuses in 2024, during Israel’s war against Hamas. The encampments were also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of December 2025, Jomareun Richardson's LinkedIn profile said he was an "Environmental Systems, Science, and Sustainability and Geography Student" at ISU, which is located in Normal, Illinois. His LinkedIn also said he was located in Normal, Illinois.
