John Zahariev
Overview
John Zahariev has encouraged violence against police, expressed violent hatred of police, promoted violent revolution and expressed support for a convicted terrorist. He has spread hatred of Israel, advocated for America's destruction, spread hatred of America and mocked pro-Israel students.He is also a supporter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Houston (UH).
As of February 2019, Zahariev’s Facebook said he studied Psychology at UH.
In December 2018, Zahariev indicated on Twitter that he had graduated college.
Zahariev has been sanctioned by Twitter multiple times due to violating Twitter’s rules against “hateful conduct” and “abusive behavior.” In February 2018, Zahariev created a second Twitter account, which he stated in the bio that he had created after his first account had been locked.
Encouraging Violence Against Police
On July 15, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “This is why liberal ID politics are a dead end. Some of the most virulent upholders of white supremacy are nonwhites, like this black pig. Black pigs deserve to be 6 feet under just as much as white pigs.”On June 20, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “Hope all these pigs get shot...People defending these pigs should also be shot tbh.”
On May 6, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “Death to all police! Death to all police!” On March 5, 2018, Zahariev tweeted that Twitter had locked his account due to the May 2017 tweet.
On October 4, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “Cops aren't innocent so them dying is warranted.”
Zahariev made his comment in response to a tweet that read: “Cops in Vegas were literally laying on top of innocent people as human shields. Never talk s**t about a cop to me ever again.”
On August 12, 2017, Zahariev tweeted a screenshot of a website selling a Phoenix HP22A Semi Auto Pistol Compact. Zhariev commented: “If you told me I would be looking up guns in 2017 I wouldn't believe you.”
On August 11, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “We can't stand idly by anymore being abused by white supremacists expecting the police to help us. We need to become our own police.”
He continued: “Because the police are also white supremacists. The difference is they're state-sanctioned white supremacists (yes, even cops of color).”
Zahariev went on to say: “I'm starting to learn that gun proficiency is important who any leftist who is interested in participating in direct action.”
He concluded: “These white supremacists are willing to win by any means necessary & the left needs to adopt that same attitude. We have nothing to lose tbh.”

On August 17, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “The son of this woman is also a pig and apparently said ‘procedurally, the cops did nothing wrong.’ Pigs are so disgusting they won’t even defend their own mothers. I would tell people I don’t even have a son.”
On July 12, 2016, Zahariev tweeted: “This ‘memorial’ for these fallen pigs on CNN is making me sick. This country's propaganda is holding the citizens hostage.” He continued: “America is mourning for cops, even when they are Neo-Nazis bc they serve the same ends & embody the same values. They lost 1 of their own.”
On July 6, 2016, Zahariev tweeted: “We couldn't even get a f**king moment to breathe before another hashtag, #philandocastle, was created. All police are vicious demons.”
On May 28, 2016, Zahariev tweeted: “I'm convinced that all NYPD cops are demons that are reincarnations of evil people from the past. Like SS officers.” Zahariev added: “NYPD cops are particularly evil from what I've seen.”
Promoting Violent Revolution
On September 20, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “My message to @BillGates @JeffBezos @WarrenBuffett et al.” The tweet included an image of two people being beheaded via the guillotine.On August 12, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “I think the Ferguson riots should be referred to as the Ferguson Revolution. That was the closest we've come to revolution in a while.”
On November 9, 2016, Zahariev tweeted: “Imo, leftists should not only take advantage of liberals' disillusionment with the electoral system, but the notion of ‘America’ itself.”
On April 25, 2016, Zahariev tweeted: “We don't even need kill all white people (even tho I wouldn't object). They just need to be caged. Put in re-education camps.”
Zahariev commented on his tweet: “Any objections to re-educations would necessitate punishment. By any. means. necessary.”
Supporting a Terrorist
On March 27, 2017, Zahariev was listed on Facebook as having attended an SJP UH co-organized event with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) at UH (SDS UH), titled: “The Black Radical Tradition and Palestine, with Dr. Gerald Horne.” The event was launched in order to “kick off Israeli Apartheid Week.”On March 28, 2017, Zahariev posted on Facebook and on Twitter a photo of himself at the event, posing by a banner that read: “Justice 4 Rasmea Odeh. SDS Students for a Democratic Society.” On his Twitter post, Zahariev commented:#Justice4Rasmea
Odeh was a key military operative [00:02:08]with the terrorist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In 1969, Odeh masterminded a PFLP bombing that killed two college students in a Jerusalem supermarket. Odeh also attempted to bomb the British consulate.
Odeh confessed, in a highly detailed account, the day following her arrest. In a 2004 documentary, one of Odeh’s co-conspirators directly implicated [00:10:53] Odeh as the mastermind.
In 1970, an Israeli court tried and convicted Odeh for her involvement in both bombings and sentenced her to life imprisonment. However, Odeh was released 10 years later, in a prisoner swap and emigrated to the United States.
On November 10, 2014, a Michigan federal jury convicted Odeh for immigration fraud because she failed to disclose her prior conviction and life sentence on her immigration application. On March 12, 2015, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
In 2017, after an appeal and a lengthy court battle, Odeh admitted to immigration fraud, was stripped of her U.S. citizenship, deported to Jordan and banned from re-entering the U.S.
Spreading Hatred of Israel
On October 11, 2016, Zahariev posted a photo of himself on Facebook. He captioned it, “I was finally able to cop a #coogs4palestine shirt. F**k Israel now and forever. #FreePalestine.”
On January 25, 2019, Zahariev tweeted: “Israel being allowed to participate in Eurovision every year, despite being an alleged ‘Jewish state’ that’s not even in Europe (there are Jews of all races), is a testament to their commitment to being a white supremacist nation.”
On December 9, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “Imagine how ridiculous it would sound to say that Israeli workers are exempt from complicity/participation in Palestinian genocide by virtue of being working class.”
On December 17, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “Look at how they describe Israel as ‘a free society’ and ‘the world’s only Jewish state.’ Israel is neither free nor ‘a Jewish state.’ In addition to Palestinian apartheid, it regularly commits violence against & sterilizes Ethiopian & Eritrean Jews. They clearly have an agenda.”
On November 29, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “Beyond that tho, this ‘I don’t wanna destroy Israel’ ish is annoying. Israel is a settler-colony just like the US & the only correct position is that they must both be destroyed. There can be no freedom for Palestine as long as Israel exists. And Israel will make sure of it.”
On June 13, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “Lol...what a joke. Where have they been? Racist violence has always happened in Israel.”
On May 8, 2018, Zahariev tweeted: “The thing with Azealia is she doesn't personally speak out things unless they personally affect her. Maybe now she will realize that Israel is a white supremacist settler colonial state.”
On November 3, 2018, Zaariev tweeted: “I was surprised at first to see Ziggy Marley attending but then I found out he has a wholea** Israeli wife. His dad would be ashamed to see his son sponsoring a state that euthanizes Ethiopian Jews, where Ethiopians & Eritreans are also subject to police violence & deportation.”
On April 30, 2017, Zahariev shared a photo of South African president Nelson Mandela with Cuban communist dictator Fidel Castro. Zahariev tweeted: “F**K Israel!! This is what a TRUE friend to South Africa looks like.”
On May 15, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “Angela Davis: ‘Israel is an apartheid state. Support BDS & Palestine will be free.’ #NakbaDay.”

On February 19, 2019, Zahariev tweeted a video of a Haitian man burning the American flag with the caption: “When someone asks me ‘which candidate is your favorite?’”On June 1, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “I can't wait til I'm able to see ‘The United States of America (1776-20xx)’ on Wikipedia. With the whole article being in past tense.”
On April 3, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “I support the DPRK insofar as hoping they destroy America
. I would support that no matter who does it.”On February 10, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “Seeing Death to America still trending makes me chuckle.”

Spreading Hatred of America
As of October 19, 2017, Zahariev set his Twitter cover photo to a photo of someone standing on the American flag.On October 5, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “Someone from another country: ‘What's it like living in America?’ Me: Hell on earth.”
On September 1, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “White supremacists represent everything America stands for…”
On July 27, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “What will become of ‘American’ identity after the demise of America? That would be interesting to see.”
On July 4, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “SCREAMING @ ‘Top selling product’ http://www.ebay.com/itm/America-Flag-Toilet-Paper-USA-Pattern-Roll-Paper-/161539283927 … Please buy me this for 4th of July.” The tweet featured a screenshot of toilet paper with the American flag on it being auctioned on ebay.
On the same day, Zahariev tweeted: “Happy Fourth of July! #4thOfJuly2017 #IndependenceDay #HappyBirthdayAmerica.” The tweet featured a GIF of the American flag being burned while someone stuck their middle finger up at it.
Zahariev added to the feed other photos of people treading on the American flag.
On May 28, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “I didn't claim evil was specific to America, but it is evil. Also imperialism/settler-colonialism/slavery/genocide are not accidents.”
On March 30, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “American cheese is trash, much like America itself.”
On February 17, 2017, Zahariev tweeted: “I hate this rhetoric that ‘immigrants are what make America great.’ Not only is that ahistorical, but AMERICA IS OBJECTIVELY GARBAGE/TRASH.”
Mocking Pro-Israel Students
At the March 27, 2017, tweeting about the SJP UH and SDS organized event, Zahariev tweeted: “OMG. There was a Q&A & this oldass uglyas** Humpty-Dumpty looking a** Zionist started talking about a ‘two-state solution.’”He went on to tweet a video of SJP UH protesters chanting and wrote: “These dumba** Zionists were tryna ‘counter-protest’ outside the lecture and F**K THAT! FREE FREE PALESTINE! #freepalestine.”
Zahariev continued: “I was mad esp bc this old HumptyDumpty dude lookin like he from the biblical Israel perpetuated that ‘created as a haven for all Jews’ BS…”
SJP UH - Spreading Anti-Israel Propaganda
UH’s IAW featured a mock apartheid wall, erected on campus. Text on the wall read: “If you want to find a safe place in Gaza, do not stand beside a child.” Another piece of text read: “Israel uses sophisticated attack jets to bomb densely crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques and slums to attack a population that has no airforce, no navy, army and calls it a war. It is not war, it is murder.”SJP UH - Supporting Violence
On November 1, 2015, SJP UH shared a post on Facebook promoting demonstrations supporting anti-Israel violence. The rallies, held in both Houston and Austin, were co-organized by SJP UH and the Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) at Austin, TX (PSCAT) and urged: “…Long Live the Resistance! Long Live the Intifada!”October 2015 saw an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” saw young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab scores of Israeli civilians.
On August 18, 2014, SJP UH and UH MSA co-organized an event featuring Sheikh Omar Suleiman. SJP UH’s Facebook announcement billed Suleiman as a “vocal human rights supporter.”
In 2014, Imam Omar Suleiman called on Twitter for a “Third Intifada” to destroy Israel. His tweet perpetuated the incendiary claim that Israel intended to desecrate the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
SJP UH - Pushing BDS
On November 1, 2015, SJP UH shared an event on Facebook announcing plans for a UH Divest campaign and new Facebook page. The event aimed to discuss “all potential strategies” to bring BDS to UH. Proposed strategies included:Revamped tabling and silent demonstrations

BDS Workshops to teach the student body what BDS is and why we support it

SJP UH - Spreading Propaganda
On October 1, 2017, SJP UH shared a Facebook post that read: “17 years ago today, 12yr old Muhammad Al-Durra was shot dead on LIVE TV in his father's arms.#Coogs4Palestine #FreePalestine.”
The Al-Durah hoax is an iconic piece of anti-Israel propaganda, fabricated on September 30, 2000 at the start of the Second Intifada by a France 2 reporter.
On May 8, 2017, SJP UH organized Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) on UH’s campus. One IAW event featured a mock “apartheid wall” erected on campus. Throughout the summer of 2014 — during Operation Protective Edge (OPE) — Hamas’ continued deployment of human shields was extensively documented and publicized. Hamas encouraged gazans to act as human shields, to specifically frustrate Israeli efforts to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza. Israel commenced OPEin July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
SJP UH - Supporting Terrorists
On September 5, 2017, SJP UH shared a graphic on Facebook of an image and quote by Leila Khaled.Khaled is a leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau.
Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.
The PFLP claimed credit for the 2014 Har Nof Massacre where six people were murdered during morning prayers in a Jerusalem synagogue. The PFLP also claimed credit for the 2001 assassination of the Israeli tourism minister.
On May 25, 2017, SJP UH rallied behind convicted Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails on hunger strike, by organizing a “symbolic hunger strike” and participating in a Saltwater Challenge. The event organizers wrote on the Facebook event page: “we demand that Israel end its policies of apartheid, colonization, military occupation, displacement, dispossession, and mass incarceration.”
The hunger strike was initiated by Marwan Barghouti, who was serving five consecutive life sentences for his role in suicide bombings — and shooting attacks that killed five Israelis during the second Intifada. Barghouti led the the Palestinian Authority (PA) terrorist Tanzim force and founded the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. Barghouti also financed the guitar-case bomb used in the Sbarro Cafe massacre where 15 civilians were killed and 130 injured.
More than 1,000 other Palestinian prisoners participated in the hunger strike — most of whom were also convicted for acts of terrorism.
According to CNN , the “Saltwater Challenge” appears to have been started by Aarab Marwan Barghouti, the son of Marwan Barghouti.

SJP UH - Disrupting Campus Events
On November 3, 2017, SJP activists disrupted a lecture by David Horowitz at UH. SJP activists stood up holding a Palestinian flag and a Pan African/Black Liberation flag and yelled [00:07:04] at Horowitz. The protesters began shouting, “Zionists! Off our campus! Racists! Off our campus! Islamophobes! Off our campus!” and walked out of the lecture hall as they continued to chant.The protesters included members of other campus organizations that comprised the Cougar Voice Coalition (CVC), such as the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the Muslim Students Association (MSA), United Muslim Relief (UMR) Houston and Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) Houston.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
