Iris Hsiang

Iris Hsiang [Iris Claire Hsiang] was arrested at the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia in April 2024. Hsiang also participated in an anti-Israel rally in April 2024.

On April 20, 2024, the Columbia Spectator reported that Iris Hsiang was arrested, received an interim suspension, and had her access to campus revoked during the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) sweep of the encampment at Columbia.

On April 22, 2024, the Gothamist reported that Hsiang said she was one of the students arrested for alleged trespassing [at Columbia] and is now suspended and received a court summons.

On May 3, 2024, The Times (UK) published an article featuring Hsiang titled: “Why I risked my $66k-a-year education to protest on campus.” In the article, Hsiang was reportedly “among the dozens of demonstrators arrested for refusing to leave the encampment on the university’s central lawn.” The article also reported that “Columbia cited the police charge sheet as the reason for her suspension — trespass, vandalism and ‘disruptive behaviour.’”
