Hoda Katebi
Overview
Hoda Katebi has intimidated pro-Israel LGBT students, defended and expressed support for terrorists and spread anti-Israel conspiracy theories. She has also demonized Israel, spread bigotry and glorified an anti-Israel agitator.Katebi runs the international book club project “BecauseWe’veRead” and is the founder of the anti-Israel political fashion blog “JooJoo Azad.”
Katebi was the 2016-2017 Communications Coordinator with the Chicago chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
Katebi reportedly completed her bachelor’s degree studies at U of C in 2017. In 2016, Katebi wrote on the online magazine thelala.com that she was double-majoring in International Relations, as well as Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at U of C.
As of November 2018, Katebi said on her ZoomInfo page that she was a PhD candidate at Stanford University (Stanford).
Intimidating Pro-Israel LGBTQ Students
On January 22, 2016, following a Jewish Sabbath service at a major U.S. LGBTQ conference in Chicago, Katebi joined [00:00:32] hundreds of protesters in using physical intimidation to shut down a talk (p. 57) about LGBT life in Israel, at a major U.S. LGBT conference in Chicago.Protesters created an openly hostile environment, pushing and shoving outside the event room and shouting explicit calls for Israel’s destruction and replacement — including, “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!” and “Zionism has got to go!” Three protesters eventually broke into the room and shouted down speakers.
Katebi carried [00:00:54] a sign reading [00:00:14] “Zionism SUCKS” and chanted accusations of “pinkwashing.”
Some protesters reportedly used the anti-Semitic slur “k*ke” against Jewish conference participants. One protester shouted: “we’re going to stay here and we’re going to challenge these Zionist racist motherf**kers.” Some attendees of the talk had to leave through side entrances — blocked from leaving the main entrance by protesters.
Eventually the police were called in to intervene.
The protest was widely criticized within the LGBT community. Forty one national and grassroots LGBT leaders signed a letter to National LGBTQ Task Force Executive Director, Rea Carey, expressing their deep concern.
Defending Terrorism
On October 14, 2015, Katebi tweeted a picture of herself holding a red and black poster featuring terrorist Hadeel Al Hashlamoun. Katebi commented: “Worth it. Hope #uchicago enjoys waking up to this #Palestinedayofaction,”The poster was one of many SJP U of C posters, hung in public spaces on U of C’s campus in October 2015 during the “Knife Intifada” that read: “MURDERED BY THE ISRAELI MILITARY” or “INJURED BY ISRAELI FORCES,” memorializing as “victims of state violence” terrorists killed while attacking Israeli civilians and security forces.
In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.
One poster portrayed Palestinian terrorist Fadi Aloon as an innocent civilian, who was shot while “run[ning] from a racist mob.”
Fadi Aloon was shot by Israeli security forces after he stabbed a 15-year-old Israeli boy. Several hours before the attack, Aloon posted “Either martyrdom or victory” on his Facebook page.
On November 25, 2015, Katebi called on Twitter for the release of Ahmad Manasra.
Ahmed Manasra (sometimes spelled Mansara) and his 15-year-old cousin Hassan went on a stabbing spree in Jerusalem on October 12, 2015, during the Knife Intifada. They critically wounded a 13-year-old boy and moderately wounded a 25-year-old man. The spree ended when police shot Hassan and a passing motorist hit Ahmed. Ahmed was taken to an Israeli hospital. He admitted to investigators: “I went there to stab Jews.” He was later tried and convicted on two counts of attempted murder.
On October 18, 2015, Katebi participated in a protest hosted by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) Chicago (AMP-Chicago).
It was reported that a flyer with a photo of children was distributed, that read “NO… NOT AUSCHWITZ… ITS OCCUPIED PALESTINE.”
On that same day, following the protest, Katebi shared a short video of the protest to her Instagram page, adding that she went to that day’s rally to “stand in solidarity with #Palestine and cry out against #Israeli war crimes.”
The video in Katebi’s Instagram post featured a poster which read “In Memory of” — with the names of about 20 “Palestinian Martyers [sic.].’ One of the terrorists listed on the poster — Ishaq Badran — had stabbed two Jews and then attacked a police officer, before being shot dead.
The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda served as the excuse for an upsurge in Palestinian violence that flared in the fall of 2015 and incited Palestinians to attempt mass casualty attacks on Israeli civilians in July 2016..
Expressing Support for Convicted Terrorists
On March 31, 2016, Katebi appeared in a Facebook photo with other UofC Divest members alongside terrorist Rasmea Odeh.On November 23, 2016, Katebi tweeted that she would be attending Odeh’s upcoming trial on the 29th of November, and referred to Odeh as a “hero.”
On April 25, 2017, Katebi posted to Instagram a photo she had taken of Rasmea Odeh from the year before, during a demonstration in support of Odeh, then fighting immigration fraud charges.
Katebi commented: “Sending so much love to Rasmea Odeh & everyone supporting her and demaning [sic] #Justice4Rasmea in #Detroittoday. Today is the last court hearing and our hero will most likely be deported, but the fight is far from over. I took this photo at Rasmea's hearing in Detroit last year ✊ Sending love from Oakland. #abolishprison#freepalestine.”
Barghouti, co-founder of the BDS movement, rejects the existence of Israel.
Barghouti falsely claimed that the demand that all Palestinian refugees be allowed to settle in Israel is a "right" under international law, and further asserted that the demands of BDS are “inflexible” and “non-negotiable” — and if people object then “tough.”
Barghouti also accusedIsrael of "colonizing the minds of Palestinians" by (temporarily) shutting down Palestinian educational institutions — particularly Birzeit University — whose militant student body was involvedin riots and terror activity during the first Intifada and later remained ridden with terrorists. Barghouti omitted that under Israeli occupation five Arab universities and 70 teaching colleges were created on the West Bank, between 1967 and 1987 alone; none were permitted when the area was under Jordanian rule before 1967.
In January of 2016, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) swept Birzeit, seizing weapons stockpiles and Hamas propaganda. The university administration echoed Barghouti’s claims, characterizing the sweep as a "belligerent ... attack on the university and our right to education and all the principles involved in the freedom of education."
Barghouti also condemned Israel for shutting down other educational institutions, like kindergartens and high schools, which were also used to educate children to hate Israeli Jews — and become suicide bombers.
Barghouti also falsely claimed that Israel is guilty of Apartheid towards its Arab citizens.
On that same day, Katebi posted on Instagram: “EMERGENCY ACTION: PALESTINIAN POLITICAL PRISONERS ARE AT DAY 36 OF THEIR HUNGER STRIKE. PLEASE CALL RED CROSS & SHARE #DignityStrike36.” Katebi attached a set of instructions for how to promote the strike to her tweet.
Spreading Anti-Israel and Anti-US Conspiracy Theories
On April 27, 2018, Katebi co-authored a post to her blog claiming that there are “deep ties between Israeli militarism in occupied Palestine and gun violence in the United States,” and that “weapons [are] tested on Palestinian protesters before they are sold to the U.S. military.”Katebi claimed that thousands of Palestinian children “have been murdered by the Israeli military” and that during the March of Return, “unarmed protesters” were “murdered as they prayed, as they ran, at times being shot down to cheers from the soldiers.”
She also suggested that Israeli soldiers targeted rioters on its border for being being “Black people, Muslim people, border-crossers, and those resisting the inherent violence of militarism.”
On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border to take part in “Land Day Protests” or the “March of Return.” The March of Return was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests along Israel’s border to spotlight the demand of Palestinians to “return” to Israel.
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. 80% of the Gazans who died between March 30, 2018 and April 25, 2018 were identified as terror operatives — killed while rioting against IDF forces, carrying out terrorist attacks, or attempting to breach the border security fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Participants also attempted to breach the border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire.
On August 31, 2017, Katebi tweeted in response to Canada’s Prime Minister’s Justin Trudeau: “Save your wishes & maybe instead try to stop supporting Israel, a violent apartheid regime which also funds global islamophobia. #EidMubarak.”
On May 28, 2017, Katebi tweeted: “actually countless local USA police depts are trained by the IDF, hence shoot to kill tactics.”

On May 11, 2016, Katebi tweeted: “‘The US gov actively & purposefully puts drugs into black and brown communities’ -- Vicko of @ScholaRComics @ #UChicago dropping knowledge ♡.”
On October 10, 2015, Katebi tweeted a quote by anti-Israel agitator Lara Kiswani that “Israel literally profits off the killing of black and brown bodies in this country.”
On Feb 15, 2012, Katebi shared a link on Twitter and her Tumblr page claiming that “the Israeli government and IDF has slaughtered millions.”
Demonizing Israel
On May 15, 2018, Katebi called on anti-Israel political fashion blog JooJoo Azad for an “emergency reading” of Omar Barghouti’s book Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions: The Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights. She wrote: “In light of the Gaza massacre yesterday, the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, the Great Return marches, and the ongoing Israeli apartheid regime and military occupation of Palestine.”On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.
On May 14, 2018, Katebi tweeted: “If you were ever wondering what you'd do if you were alive at the height of South African apartheid or the holocaust, know this time is right now, and your silence or ‘two sides’ b.s. is glaringly loud. #GazaMassacre
Uplift Palestinian voices. Support #BDS. Show up where needed.”
On March 31, 2018, Katebi tweeted: “Israel is an apartheid state” on her Twitter list of “#teachmesomethingin5words.”
On December 26, 2016, Katebi tweeted: “Meanwhile, *actual* genocide is happening right now in Palestine, in Rohingya, etc -- where are you? Why haven't you said anything before?”
On October 18, 2016, Katebi declared in a blog post that Israel is “apartheid.”
On March 30, 2016, following the launch of the UofC Divest campaign, Katebi accused Israel of “genocide,” in an exchange on her Instagram page. As of November 2018, Katebi had removed the word “genocide” from her Instagram post.
On August 30, 2014 Katebi posted to her blog accusing the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers of “raping women” and “killing, imprisoning, and torturing children.”
In her blog post, Katebi also claimed that Israel maintains “segregated roads” and engages in “ethnic cleansing of all non-Jewish Palestinians,” declaring “The atrocities of Israel are reminiscent of genocides and apartheids throughout the world's history.”
Katebi also alleged that “all non-Jewish ethnicities are being prosecuted [sic.] and driven out of Israel--not just Arab Muslims.”
On August 6, 2014, Katebi tweeted that Israel was guilty of “genocide” and urged her followers to sign a petition for a “[m]ilitary embargo on Israel now!”
On May 7, 2014 — a day after Israeli Independence Day — SJP U of C posted photos of its protest, in which Katebi participated. Katebi stood alongside other SJP U of C and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) at U of C (JVP UChicago) members who claimed a celebration of Israeli independence is a celebration of ethnic cleansing.”
On September 3, 2011, Katebi shared a link on Twitter and her Tumblr page which claimed: “ISRAEL KILLS MUSLIMS AND CHRISTIANS INDISCRIMINATELY.”
Bigotry
On March 29, 2016, Katebi tweeted “b**ch u white what culture."
Supporting Anti-Israel Agitators
On March 23, 2018, Katebi posted to Facebook: “Ahed has become a symbol of active resistance and is known as the Real Wonder Woman.”On May 28, 2018, Katebi tweeted that she would be interviewing Hatem Bazian on her “#BecauseWeveRead group,” describing Bazian as “an activist who Zionists call ‘the most dangerous professor in America.’”
On December 29, 2017, Katebi tweeted “#FreeAhedTamimi.” and claimed Tamimi’s activism was “rooted in anti-colonial and anti-apartheid struggle.”
On January 16, 2017, Katebi tweeted that she hired as a JooJoo Azad intern anti-Israel agitator Nihal Al Qawasmi, whose online anti-Semitism Canary Mission exposed to a wide audience. Katebi thanked Canary Mission “for bringing us together! ;)”.
Qawasmi has spread anti-Semitism on Twitter, referred to Jews as dogs, called for intifada terrorism and glorified terrorists
BDS Activism
On May 26, 2018, Katebi tweeted that she hosted a “#BecauseWeveRead instagram live session on Gaza & #BDS!”On March 23, 2017, Katebi tweeted: “As a radical artist collective of ppl of color, we just officially signed onto the Palestinian call for BDS! Statement below! @BDSmovement” and linked to another tweet specifically promoting the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.
On December 23, 2017, Katebi posted to Facebook the link to an article titled:
“Lorde cancels concert amid calls to boycott Israel,” adding: “✊ She not giving apartheid Israel the green light.”
On February 15, 2017, Katebi tweeted: “Things to note from Trump & Netanyahu's joint press conference 2: They are both strongly against, & fear, the BDS mvmt. This means it works.”
On June 29, 2017, Katebi posted to her blog an article calling to boycott H&M, a Swedish multinational clothing-retail company. Katebi accused the company of erasing war crimes and human rights violations by opening “a flagship store in Tel Aviv and 6 other major stores” and allowing a fashion blogger to promote H&M in Israel.
In her blog, Katebi also claimed Israel was “running an apartheid regime set on ethno/religious-supremacy” and that “H&M is complicit of whitewashing Israel's apartheid regime.”
On July 13, 2016, Katebi tweeted: “Thank you @Pharrell for respecting Palestinian's call to #BDS & refusing to play in apartheid Israel! #vivapalestine.”
On June 28, 2016, Katebi tweeted at the musician Carlos Santana and called on him to cancel a scheduled concert in Israel, writing: “You do not want to be on the wrong side of history. #Santana cancel your concert. Boycott Israel. End Apartheid. | #BelieveInMiracles.”
SJP U of C - Supporting Terrorists
The text stated: “Regardless of the charges brought against them by occupying Israeli military courts, we stand in defense of all Palestinian prisoners.” The text continued, “[t]hose held by Israel are all prisoners of conscience and national heroes, and we reject the criminalization of our resistance. To defend and advocate for them is to support the sacred right of the Palestinians to National Liberation and Independence.”
JVP UChicago and SJP U of C Exalting Terror
On November 2, 2015, JVP UChicago and SJP U of C erected a shrine honoring Palestinian terrorists killed during the upsurge of stabbings, car rammings and other terrorist attacks against Jews, that began in October 2015 — in which scores of Israelis were brutally murdered. JVP UChicago and SJP U of C accused the Israeli security forces who neutralized the terrorists of conducting "extra-judicial killings."
SJP U of C – Idolizing Violence
On March 17, 2016 the SJP U of C Facebook page’s background photo featured a likeness of Rasmea Odeh. The SJP Facebook cover photo also included an image of domestic terrorist Assata Shakur, who was convicted of killing a NJ State trooper and grievously wounding another in 1973. Shakur escaped from prison in 1979 and managed to flee to Cuba in 1984 — where she resides today. She is listed on the FBI Most Wanted Terror List under her legal name, Joanne Deborah Chesimard.
Further, the The SJP U of C Facebook cover photo included an image of Commandanta Ramona, a deceased leader of the militant separatist Mexican group the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN).
Lastly, the SJP U of C cover photo also included an image of Angela Davis. Davis made the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List in 1970, after being charged as a principal in an aggravated kidnapping and first-degree murder — for purchasing the shotgun used in the abduction and killing of a judge.
SJP U of C -Spreading Hatred of Israel
From October 26-30, 2015, SJP U of C launched its annual Israeli Apartheid Week — a five-day event dedicated to demonizing Israel.
One of the week’s events began with a panel moderated by John Mearsheimer, who is notorious for anti-Semitic claims that the “Israel Lobby” in the United States exercises undue influence over U.S. foreign policy and that the Lobby’s agenda is detrimental to U.S. interests.
The event also featured anti-police agitator Page May from We Charge Genocide and co-founder of the BDS movement Omar Barghouti, who rejects the existence of Israel.
On October 27, 2015, SJP U of C hosted a talk featuring Eliat Maoz, who propagated a blood libel, claiming that Israel’s wars with Hamas in Gaza are “a testing ground” for the weapons industry. Maoz described the “Occupied Palestinian Territories” as “the largest and most advanced weapon-testing laboratory,” and that Israel uses its operations as a means of marketing and exporting its technology and weapons abroad.
On April 24, 2015 — a day after Israeli Independence Day — SJP U of C posted photos of their protest with JVP UChicago members. The protesters held Israel responsible for the creation and continuation of the Palestinian refugee problem. One sign suggested that Israel is engaged in an “ongoing genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid.”
SJP U of C - Hosting Anti-Israel Speakers
SJP U of C has a history of inviting Israel-haters to speak at events, including Dr. Leila Farsakh, Dr. Sa'ed Atshan and New York-based poet and writer Remi Kanazi.
On May 11, 2015, SJP U of C organized an event featuring Farsakh. Farsakh advocates for a one-state solution that would see the dissolution of Israel as a Jewish State. Farsakh attended Harvard's One State Conference in March 2012, where in response to a question concerning the fate of Israeli Jews were they to become disempowered by the voluntary dissolution of Israel, Farsakh reportedly suggested they could "reconnect with their Arabism."
On May 13, 2015, as part of Palestine Solidarity Week, SJP U of C organized an event featuring Atshan. Atshan has long rejected the two-state solution, does not accept that Israel is a democracy and wants the Jewish state to be dissolved and replaced with another. democratic state.
In 2012, Atshan wrote an article that accused Israel of "ethnic cleansing" and “colonization” — and roundly condemned Native American poet Joy Harjo for rejecting Palestinian calls to boycott Israel. Harjo posted on her Facebook page from Tel Aviv, saying: “Now my social media pages and message boxes are filled with a campaign to force a boycott, with messages of polarization, as if there is one way to poetry, resistance or empowerment.” Harjo went on to mention “an atmosphere of censure now in the ultimatum that I am being given to boycott.”
On January 17, 2012, SJP U of C hosted a panel event featuring Kanazi, condemning Israel’s 2008 - 2009 Operation Cast Lead. The event also featured Ali Abunimah, the co-founder of the anti-Israel online magazine Electronic Intifada.
SJP U of C - Propagating Blood Libels
On September 16, 2014, SJP U of C shared on Facebook an image of Palestinians massacred in the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps in Lebanon by Lebanese Christian Phalangists — and suggested that Israel committed the massacre. The post further alleged that "63 noted Palestinian intellectuals in Sabra and Shatila were shot execution-style by Israeli forces."
On May 7, 2014, SJP U of C shared a poster on Facebook objecting to Israel’s Independence Day, and rejecting Israel’s right to exist. The poster urged: "Decolonize Palestine. Free Palestine." The poster accused Zionists of “celebrating” and trying “to normalize ethnic cleansing.” SJP U of C and JVP UChicago members paraded similar signs on the grounds of the U of C campus.
SJP U of C - Disguising Anti-Semitism as Anti-Zionism
On July 20, 2014 — During Israel’s Operation Protective Edge — SJP U of C members attended an anti-Israel march and die in attended held in downtown Chicago.
Demonstrators held signs bearing anti-Semitic claims, such as "Zionism is Nazism." One sign read: — “Well done Israel, Hitler would be proud of you.” Another said — “Stop doing what Hitler did to you.” Yet another read: — “Israel is a Racist, Genocidal state.” One placard propagated multiple blood libels, reading: — “Israel’s To Do List: use chemical weapons, murder children, attack the press, bomb refugee camps, block provisions of humanitarian aid.”
The demonstration was organized by the Coalition for Justice in Palestine (CJP) — a group formed at the time of the second Intifada, which includes Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP)-Chicago. SJP Chicago is, in turn, a "network forged by student activists organizing for Palestine on university campuses throughout Chicago," which includes SJP U of C.
On August 10, 2014, CJP organized another anti-Israel rally and die-in, attended by members of SJP U of C and JVP UChicago. SJP U of C member Jonah Rubin posed holding up a sign that accused Israel of apartheid. SJP U of C member Kirsten Gindler posed holding a JVP sign which accused Israel of waging a war on innocents: — "Jews Oppose Israel’s War on Civilians."
SJP U of C - Shutting down Free Speech
On February 21, 2016, SJP members opposed a lecture by Bassem Eid, founder of the Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group, who opposes the BDS movement. During the talk Eid was threatened with physical violence.
After Eid criticized the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas for repression and human rights abuses against the Palestinians, protesters repeatedly interrupted Eid. A former student at Chicago’s Columbia College, who said he was from Gaza, yelled in Arabic, "I’m going to destroy this place!" Later, he said, “I’m going to kill this motherf**cker!” and “Wait until you go to your car!”
In October 2009, over a hundred SJP U of C and MSA U of C members disrupted a lecture by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert visiting U of C, organized by the Harris School of Public Policy. Demonstrators shouted,"You deserve to be executed!" One agitator was dragged out by police, yelling “You’re a f**king snake! You goddamn pig!” The protesters turned violent against the police; some were arrested.
The anti-Israel agitators waved banners with Olmert’s likeness and the phrase "war criminal." Demonstrators denied Israel’s right to exist in any part of Palestine — chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Across the Palestinian political spectrum, from Hamas to the PA that phrase has always referred specifically to the destruction of Israel and expulsion of the Jews.
On February 26, 2013, SJP protested a talk by Israeli-American Law Professor Amos Guiora from the University of Utah. Protesters picketed and turned their chairs away from Guiora in the middle of his talk. One student continuously interrupted Guiora until being escorted out of the room.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
