Brandon Murphy

Brandon Murphy was arrested at the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia University (Columbia) in April 2024 and suspended by the university following his arrest.

The encampment was also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

In May 2024, The Freelance News reported that Murphy was arrested at the Columbia encampment in April 2024. Murphy was charged with “third degree criminal trespass...punishable by up to three months in jail, a year of probation and/or up to a $500 fine.”

In February 2025, The New York Post reported that Murphy, a postgraduate social work student at Columbia, slated [p. 3] to graduate in May 2025, was suspended in June 2024.

Following his arrest at the encampment and suspension by the university, Murphy along with fellow anti-Israel activists Catherine Curran-Groome and Aidan Parisi, filed a lawsuit against Columbia.

As of May 2024, Murphy was listed as being located in Brick, New Jersey.
