Ariel Munczek Edelman
Ariel Munczek Edelman was arrested at the anti-Israel encampment at Princeton University (Princeton) in April 2024. Edelman has indicated that Edelman is part of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
The student group Princeton Israeli Apartheid Divest (PIAD) was a co-organizer of the encampment, which ran for three weeks. Activists demanded that Princeton divest from companies doing business in Israel.
The encampment was part of a national movement on college campuses in 2024, during Israel’s war against Hamas. The encampments were also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
On April 30, 2024, PIAD said that Ariel Munczek Edelman was arrested for defiant trespass when Edelman and 12 others occupied Princeton’s Clio Hall. According to the arrestees, criminal charges were filed.
On July 7, 2025, in exchange for community service and a letter of apology, the judge dismissed the charges with prejudice and ordered Edelman’s arrest record to be automatically expunged.
As of November 2025, Ariel Munczek Edelman's LinkedIn said Edelman was a senior policy and budget associate at the Office of the New York City Public Advocate (NYCPA), which is in New York, New York. Edelman graduated from Princeton with a master's degree in public affairs in 2025. Princeton is located in Princeton, New Jersey.
In June 2026, Ariel Munczek's X bio said: "policy + budget @nycpa ...![]()
."
The rose emoji indicates a person is "part of the DSA movement."
The watermelon has been appropriated by terrorists and anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It gained widespread popularity and usage following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.
