Ahmad Kaki

Overview

Ahmad Kaki whitewashed the Hamas terror group and organized an anti-Israel protest. Kaki has also spread hatred of Israel, defended violent protesters and was affiliated with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Texas, San Antonio (UTSA) in 2014 and 2015.

As of January 2021, Kaki was listed as a member of the Facebook group San Antonio Justice for Palestine (SAJP), since 2014. Kaki was alsopresident of UTSA’s Muslim Students Association (MSA) from 2013 to 2015 and remained affiliated with the organization in 2016 and 2017.

As of January 2021, Kaki’s LinkedIn page said he was an Account Executive at Enterprise Fleet Management, San Antonio, Texas, since October 2019. His LinkedIn page also said he graduated from UTSA in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Whitewashing Hamas

Kaki retweeted a March 16, 2015 tweet from Hamas’ official Twitter account that said: “Hamas is a national liberation movement that believe in Moderate understanding of Islam #AskHamas.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Organizing an Anti-Israel Protest

During Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Kaki was an organizer for an August 2, 2014 rally called: “Texas Stands with Gaza.” He was also listed as the host on the event’s Facebook event page.

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

The Facebook event page said: “we will be assembling at the Capitol in Austin to protest against Israel's horrific assault on the population of Gaza, and to demand an end to our government's support for it.” The page’s call to action also suggested Israel was then engaged in “the mass murder of Palestinian civilians.”

According to an article authored by anti-Israel activist Dania Hussein for “The Daily Texan,” the rally attracted “thousands of Texans.”

SJP co-founder Snehal Shingavi spoke at the rally, and accused [00:02:55] Israel of intentionally committing “the genocide of Gaza” and went on to claim: “This has everything to do with the Zionist project which has been the ethnic cleansing of the Palestine since 1948 to the present."

On August 3, 2014, Kaki wrote on the “Texas Stands with Gaza” Facebook event page: “Today was a huge success, and that is a credit to each and every one of you that came today to have your voice heard. We will not stop until...Palestine is free. #BDS #TexasStandsWithGaza.”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On March 25, 2015, Kaki posted to SAJP’s Facebook group and wrote: “Israel benefits more from Islamophobia than anyone or anything. By combating ignorance towards Islam, we combat the Zionist narrative of ‘us vs them.’”

On March 3, 2015, Kaki wrote in a Facebook comment that Israel was responsible for the “massacre” of Palestinians, “apartheid” and “occupation.”

Defending Violent Protesters

Kaki authored a May 13, 2018 op-ed, published by San Antonio’s local newsite titled: “Israeli reaction in Gaza disproportionate to actual threat.” In his op-ed, Fathi defended the “March of Return” protests and claimed that they were “peaceful.”

On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border.

Media reports confirmed [00:00:20] the March of Return protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of Israel’s border fence, some by armed Palestinians. One Hamas leader declared [00:00:30]: “We will take down the border [with Israel] and we will tear out their hearts from their bodies.”

In May 2018, terror group Hamas instigated violent riots on the Israeli-Gaza border. Thousands of rioters attempted to breach Israel’s border fence, declaring their intention to harm Jews across the border under the pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

Kaki’s op-ed also claimed that Israel's reaction to the protests were a “prime example of Israel’s practice of collective punishment, where many Palestinians are punished because of the actions of a few.”

Anti-Israel Activism

On February 14, 2015, Kaki promoted an event jointly hosted by SJP and Muslim American Society (MAS) in San Antonio. The event featured anti-Israel activist and American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) organizer Taher Herzallah discussing“Palestinian Solidarity Activism” and the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Earlier that year, Herzallah publicly expressed [00:49:04] support for violence against Israeli Jews and [00:49:08] for the establishment of an Islamic State.

Kaki wrote: “This event came together very last minute, but I hope some of you can still make it!”

In a January 9, 2015 SAJP Facebook post, another SAJP activist named “Judith Norman” promoted an “Educational presentation” by Kaki on the “concept of jihad.”

On September 23, 2014, Kaki posted to Facebook: “The newly formed Students for Justice in Palestine will be participating in the International Day of Action on College Campuses for Palestine tomorrow. We will be holding up signs, passing out informations [sic] pamphlets, and talking to students on campus about the occupation, degradation, and genocide of the Palestinian people at the hands of Israel...”

During Israel’s OPE, Kaki was listed as the host of an August 22, 2014 SJP UTSA Facebook event, titled: “Tears of Gaza: Movie Screening.”

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

MSA

The MSA was  established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.
