This report details the Qatari government’s multimillion-dollar plan to influence American public opinion by training a new generation of journalists who will legitimize antisemitic, anti-Israel and anti-American positions.
To achieve their goal, the Qatari government partnered with one of the United States' top-ranking schools, Northwestern University, to establish a satellite campus in the Qatari capital, Doha. Northwestern University Qatar (NU-Q), is completely funded by the Qatari government through two state-run organizations, the Qatar Foundation and the Al Jazeera Media Network.
The NU-Q learning experience consists of a fully immersive environment that includes a heavily biased curriculum and a host of lecturers who hold antisemitic, anti-Israel and anti-American views. These lecturers are a combination of in-house professors and Al Jazeera reporters, producers and management.
After three years of study, students join the NU-Q internship program. The program acts as a gateway to future employment opportunities, providing students with access to prestigious media and public relations firms.
Whether students begin with anti-Western views or not, too many emerge from their studies at NU-Q with an anti-Israel and anti-American mindset. When they subsequently find positions in mainstream media, they come equipped with both the motivation and ability to influence public opinion.
Included in the report are, 37 profiles of NU-Q professors, Al-Jazeera lecturers, administrators, students and graduates.
1. NU-Q trains students to legitimize antisemitic, anti-Israel, anti-American narratives in Western media.
2. Graduates are afforded legitimacy with a degree from a U.S. university and subsequently qualify for professional media positions and entry into top
graduate schools.
3. NU-Q, in concert with Al Jazeera, operates an extensive professional
networking program, providing students with employment opportunities
in U.S. and European media.
4. A Memorandum of Understanding signed between NU-Q and Al Jazeera formalized cooperation between the two institutions including faculty advice on the launch of Al Jazeera America (AJAM) in order to influence American public opinion.
5. The Qatar Foundation, known for its ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, funds NU-Q professors through specialized grants.
6. Students are regularly exposed to clerics who preach support for terrorism at the NU-Q mosque.
Professors at NU-Q regularly spread incitement against Jews and Israel and express support for terrorism.
These attitudes are so pervasive on May 14, 2021, for example, then NU-Q professor Justin Martin tweeted, “27 professors from Northwestern University in Qatar issue statement condemning Israel's system of apartheid and ongoing forced displacement of Palestinians. The signatories, of which I'm one, represent a two-thirds majority of @NUQatar's full-time faculty.”
The tweet, which included a list of the signatories, said that NU-Q faculty recognizes Israel as perpetrating “crimes against humanity.”

Khaled Hroub [Khaled AL-Hroub] has spread incitement, glorified terrorism, whitewashed the terror group Hamas and spread hatred of America. Hroub has also promoted violent rioters and demonized and spread hatred of Israel.
Ibrahim Abusharif has supported terror financiers and spread hatred of Israel.
Rami Khouri [Rami George Khouri] has demonized Jews, whitewashed terrorism, defended the Knife Intifada and spread incitement. Khouri has also glorified violent protesters, spread anti-Israel conspiracy theories, demonized Israel, as well as supporters of Israel and spread hatred of Israel.
Ali Mustafa has whitewashed the Hamas terror organization, promoted incitement and glorified violent protestors. Mustafa has also demonized and spread hatred of Israel and promoted an anti-Israel agitator.
Justin Martin [Justin D Martin] was condemned for trivializing the 9/11 terror attacks and has spread hatred of America and Israel. Martin has also demonized Israel online, promoted anti-Israel agitators and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Omar Chatriwala has spread incitement, whitewashed terrorists, demonized and spread hatred of Israel. Chatriwala has also promoted an anti-Israel agitator and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Yaser Bishr has spread incitement and demonized Israel while serving as the Global Executive Director of Corporate Strategy and Development at Al Jazeera Media Network (Al Jazeera).
In 2013, NU-Q signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Jazeera to “deepen the ties between the two organizations.”
According to NU-Q, the agreement it made with Al Jazeera was to “allow professionals and budding journalists from both sides to benefit from the combined expertise of the two institutions through joint research and strategic studies projects, training workshops, a co-designed lecture series, internships and faculty contributions as well as journalist-exchange programs.”
According to the memorandum, Al Jazeera agreed “to support NU-Q students with scholarships and training opportunities.”
Since signing the agreement, Al Jazeera has maintained a close partnership with NU-Q, including funding research by NU-Q professors and sending reporters, producers and management to lecture students as part of the Al Jazeera Speaker Series for NU-Q’s journalism and communication courses.
Between 2013-2019, more than two-thirds of the Al Jazeera staff members that lectured NU-Q students had either expressed support for terrorists, demonized Israel or backed the Boycott, Divesment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Mostefa Souag [Mustapha Souag] defended the broadcast of Osama Bin Laden propaganda videos while serving as the Acting Director-General of the Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN).
Dima Khatib has spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and defended the terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah. Khatib has also glorified terrorists, promoted violence, demonized Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.As of November 2021, Khatib’s LinkedIn said that, since 2015, she was the Managing Director of AJ+, an online news channel run by Al Jazeera Media Network (Al Jazeera), in Doha, Qatar and San Francisco. In 2016, Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) reported that Khatib spoke at NU-Q as part of the Al Jazeera Speaker Series. In 2013,
Eliah Ghorbiah has compared Israel to Nazi Germany, expressed support for terrorists, promoted terrorists from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and spread incitement. She has also demonized Israel, defended violent protesters, expressed support for anti-Israel agitators and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Rawaa Augé has spread incitement and demonized Israel online. Augé has also spread hatred of Israel and promoted an anti-Israel agitator.
Sana Hamouche [Sanah Hamouche] has promoted incitement, demonized Israel and glorified an anti-Israel agitator. She was an “Aljazeera Senior Presenter/Producer.”
Juan Carlos van Meek whitewashed terrorism while serving as Head of Output at Al Jazeera English (AJ English), in 2015. In September 2013, Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) reported that van Meek spoke at NU-Q as part of the Al Jazeera Speaker Series.
Giles Trendle has whitewashed terrorists, spread demonization of Israel and promoted anti-Israel activists.
Jassim Al Rumaihi [Jassim Saad Al-Rumaihi] has promoted incitement and spread hatred of Israel. Al Rumaihi has also promoted an anti-Israel agitator and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Awad Joumaa has spread incitement and whitewashed terrorism as well as violent protests. He also has demonized Israel, endorsed anti-Israel agitators and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Mohammed El Haddad has whitewashed the terror group Hamas, demonized Israel, spread anti-Israel propaganda and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Moeed Ahmad has spread incitement, demonized Israel, and promoted anti-Israel agitators. Ahmad is also a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Zahra Rasool has defended violent protestors and demonized Israel.
Nawal Aqeel [Nawal Faisal Aqeel] has glorified Hitler and demonized Israel on social media. Aqeel was listed as an Al Jazeera English contributor in 2018.
Jehad Al-Hallaq [Jehad Hallaq] has glorified terrorists, promoted incitement, celebrated violent riots and spread hatred of Israel. Al-Hallaq is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Hazar Al-Kilani [Hazar Kilani] has spread incitement, celebrated terrorism and idolized a terrorist. She has also spread lies and expressed a violent hatred of Zionists and Israel. Al-Kilani has also defended violent protestors and spread hatred of Israel as well as Zionists.
Ameera AlSaid has spread incitement and demonized Israel. AlSaid has also spread hatred of Israel as well as Zionism and Zionists. she is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Ayman Al-Rasheed [Ayman Ali Al Rachid, Ayman Al-Rashid] glorified violent protesters, demonized Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Jassim Kunji [Jassim Mater Kunji] has defended terrorism and demonized Israel on social media.
Ruba Shaath (Ruba Nabeel Shaath) has promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist Yusuf Al- Qaradaw as well as anti-Israel agitators. Shaath has also spread hatred of Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Shereena Qazi has promoted violent protesters and demonized Israel. As of April 2020, Qazi’s LinkedIn page said she was a “Journalist” at Al Jazeera Media Network, since October 2015.
Salwa Sadek has spread incitement, glorified a terrorist and defended terrorism. She also mocked Israeli civilians under rocket fire, spread an anti-Israel conspiracy theory and promoted hatred of Israel.
Usama Alony Hamed has spread incitement, glorified violent protests and spread hatred of Israel. Hamed has also promoted an anti-Israel agitator while working as a Producer and News Editor at Al Jazeera Media Network (Al Jazeera) in Doha, Qatar.
Asmahan Qarjouli [Asmahan Ibrahim Qarjouli] has demonized Israel on Twitter and has promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Aly Zein Mohammed is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and has demonized Israel online.
Lujain Assaf has spread incitement, glorified violence and whitewashed terrorism while she was the 2020-2022 Vice President of the Palestine Student Club (PSC) at Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q). Assaf was also PSC’s Social Media Manager from August 2018-April 2020.
Malek Almanaa [Malak Almanaa] has glorified violent protesters and defended terrorists. Almanaa has also demonized Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Kayan Khraisheh [Kayan Marwan Khraisheh] has spread hatred of Israel, promoted violent protesters and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
