Michael Gasser
Michael Gasser [Michael E. Gasser] signed an anti-Israel letter during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks.
Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds more that day. For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
The May 8, 2024 letter Michael Gasser signed accused Israel of “genocide” in its war against Hamas and showed support for the pro-terror campus encampments. It also endorsed elements of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
At the time of signing, Michael Gasser was listed as professor emeritus in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University.
IU is located in Bloomington, Indiana.
As of August 2025, Michael Gasser was listed on a since-deleted website as an "independent researcher in computational linguistics and an activist working on environmental justice, anti-imperialism/internationalism, and language justice" and listed in the same source as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA Santa Cruz).
DSA's ideology includes anti-American and abolitionist elements. DSA justified Hamas murdering 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023.
