Overview

Yazen Barakat [Yazen Bassam Barakat] is a gun enthusiast who has spread anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia and hatred of Israel on Twitter.

In January 2021, Barakat’s LinkedIn page said he was an Insurance Sales Advisor at Liberty Mutual Insurance, from “Dec 2019 - Present.” He was also listed as an “Independent Business Owner” at “Barakat ATMs” from “Jun 2015 - Present,” in Bedford, Texas. On LinkedIn, he went by “Yazan Barakat.”

As of October 2022, Barakat’s “Non-Resident Producer” license was listed as “inactive” and expired on August 31, 2022. 

Barakat’s LinkedIn page said he graduated from the University of Texas Arlington (UT Arlington) with a bachelor's degree in “Business Administration” in 2019. 

Gun Enthusiast

On January 26, 2015, Barakat tweeted a selfie of himself with a friend in a car, both holding shotguns. 

On December 14, 2014, Barakat tweeted a photo of himself holding a rifle and wrote: “Good morning from bae and I.”

On December 7, 2014, Barakat tweeted a photo of a rifle and ammunition and wrote: “Running low on Ammo only 100 shells left :(.”

On March 22, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “I like to train my women to shoot what can I say? #WomenAndGunsBestCombo.” The tweet featured a 1986 photo of burka-clad Iranian militia women training outside Tehran with handguns. 

On February 16, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “ran into these babies today.” Barakat’s tweet featured a photo of guns in a shop window.

On January 25, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “‘@alahaa: #ThisCouldBeUsButYouPlayin.’” Barakat’s tweet featured a photo of a man aiming an AK-47 and a woman firing a rocket-propelled grenade launcher. 

Anti-Semitism

On November 24, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “F**k Jews.”

On January 26, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “‘@YoSoyDalia: Best account on twitter --------> @TraditionalJews follow!’ Why would someone follow a Jew lol.”

On July 18, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “‘@kaseeslagle: I swear MiddleEast is gonna be the reason for World War 3.’ Its the damn jews man #FreePalestine.”

Racism

On April 29, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “‘@UNCLERUCKUS_BD: wake up you n**gers and go fill out some job applications.’”

On October 20, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “Damn it's slow af .. Where'd all the n**gers go?”

On November 30, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “How am I a communist you wet back gay a**. Nigga.”

On April 12, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “I called a black guy n**ger yesterday and lived to tell the tale! Ayeee happy Saturday bastards.”

Homophobia

On February 16, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “@RyedRyed dude I heard he was gay .. I'm not really comfortable working out with a homosexual man lover.”

On January 27, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “@Ashh_xoxoxo stop creeping Fag Bag.”

On July 25, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “@alexandrareneab have fun buddy and be safe!Punch the faggot for me lol.”

On July 15, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “Exactly let the men blow s**t up. Faggot a** gay a** white b**ches go play in the woods.”

On January 20, 2013, Barakat tweeted: “There is alot of Gay black people in Irving now a dayslike chill out.”

Hatred of Israel

On July 16, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE) against Hamas in Gaza, Barakat tweeted: “F**k that we dont want a treaty in Palestine yall are crazy WE WANT ISRAEL OUT #FreePalestine.”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

On July 31, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “It's sickening to see Israel continue to claim us a terrorists these children murderers? These cowards? These liars? Allah take them all.”

On August 2, 2014, Barakat tweeted: “Glad too see people finally realize Israel are the real terrorists.”
