Shelby Edwards [Shelby Lynn Edwards] ripped down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. The incident happened in June 2024.
Shelby Edwards posted on her since-deleted TikTok account a video of herself ripping down hostage posters during Israel’s war against Hamas, called “Swords of Iron.”
Israel launched the war after a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. As of December 2024, Edward's LinkedIn profile said she worked as a senior associate, investor relations and business development, for financial services company JP Morgan since September 2023. JP Morgan is headquartered in New York, New York.
However, also as of December 2024, Shelby Edwards, CRD #6447754, was listed [p. 3] on the Broker Check FINRA site as "not currently registered." On the site, she was listed as Shelby L. Edwards. The site's "Registration History" indicated Edwards was previously registered with J.P. Morgan Institutional Investments in New York, NY, from January 2024 through July 2024. On July 10, 2024, a report on X claimed that Edwards had been terminated from her position at JP Morgan, after its investigation of her actions.
On June 18, 2024, MyNBC15.com news reported that Shelby Edwards posted a video of herself, on her since-deleted TikTok account, ripping down a poster that raised awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas when the terror group attacked Israel from Gaza on October 7, 2023.
In the video, Edwards stood in front of a bike by a lamp post while tearing down the hostage poster. The poster was titled: "KIDNAPPED Americans" and included photos of seven American-Israeli hostages held in Gaza, and the message: "Bring Them Home NOW." The video featured an audio overlay that said "You can go now," followed by "I don't want you here."
Shelby Edward went by the handle "@shelby_ed" on her since-deleted TikTok account. A photo taken from the TikTok video is captioned: "See ya!"
On June 20, 2024, MyNBC15 News published an article titled: "JPMorgan employee on leave, under investigation after tearing down Israeli hostages poster." The article reported: "A JPMorgan employee is on leave after video surfaced on social media of her tearing down a poster of Israeli hostages..." JP Morgan told MyNBC15 News: "We do not tolerate violence, hate, divisiveness or discrimination. When we receive reports of such behavior or any action that does not align with our Code of Conduct, we initiate an investigation immediately...The employee [Shelby Edwards] has been put on immediate leave while we investigate the matter."
On July 10, 2024, a report on X claimed that Edwards had been terminated from her position at JP Morgan, after its investigation of Edwards' actions supporting violence, hatred, and discrimination, in violation of JP Morgan's Code of Conduct for its employees.
