Renad Uri

Overview

Renad Uri [Renad Nizar] has expressed support for terrorists with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). She also endorsed the “March of Return” riots organized by Hamas, spread hatred of Israel and promoted hatred of Zionists.

As of February 2019, Uri’s LinkedIn page said she was a “Project Development Officer” for Defense for Children International - Palestine (DCI-Palestine) and based in Ramallah from October - August 2018.DCI-Palestine reportedly has “ties to the PFLP,” including senior staff and board members who are also PFLP members.

In April 2017, Uri was designated as a “coordinating committee” member of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at George Washington University (GWU), in a photo accompanying an article by fellow SJP at GWU activist, Abby Brook.

Uri is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, campaigned for the “#DivestThisTime” BDS campaigns at (GWU) in 2017 and 2018 and demonstrated against Israel.

As of August 2020, Uri’s LinkedIn page said she was a “Masters Candidate at the Patel College of Global Sustainability | Water Sustainability” at the University of South Florida (USF), slated to graduate in 2021. She attended GWU from 2014 - 2018, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. In November 2016, her LinkedIn page said she studied Business Administration at Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) from 2014 - 2016.

Uri’s LinkedIn page also said she was a “Research Assistant” at the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) from January - August 2018. ANERA has reportedly funneled money to terror groups.

Her LinkedIn also listed Uri as a “Government Affairs Intern” at the pro-BDS U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) from September - December 2017. As of July 2018, one of her Twitter pages identified Uri as a USCPR intern.

Formerly known as the U.S. Campaign to End the Occupation, USCPR is a coalition of American-based anti-Israel organizations that lobbies the United States Congress to adopt anti-Israel policies and end government support for Israel.

In May 2018, Uri went by the name “ريناد سعيد [Renad Saeed]” in an Al Jazeera interview, where she promoted BDS. She also used the name “Renad Saeed” on Facebook in June 2018. She went by “Renad Nizar Uri” on Facebook in September 2016 and Renad Uri in 2019.

On her LinkedIn page she listed herself as “Renad U.,” as of August 2020.

Supporting PFLP Terrorists

On October 19, 2017, Uri tweeted: “My president 😍” along with a photo of terrorist Leila Khaled armed with an assault rifle and pointing a knife at a map of Israel.

Khaled is a leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau.

Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

The PFLP claimed credit for the 2014 Har Nof Massacre where six people were murdered during morning prayers in a Jerusalem synagogue. The PFLP also claimed credit for the 2001 assassination of the Israeli tourism minister.

Uri retweeted an October 31, 2017 tweet with a quote from Khaled that read: “‘I have a cause higher and nobler than my own, a cause to which all private interests and concerns must be subordinated.’"

Uri retweeted an August 27, 2017 tweet in support of Rasmea Odeh.

Odeh was a key military operative with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization. In 1969, she masterminded a PFLP supermarket bombing that killed two college students. She also attempted to bomb the British consulate in Jerusalem. Odeh later moved to the United States but was deported to Jordan in 2017 for immigration fraud.

Uri retweeted a January 28, 2018 tweet that said: “‘The Palestinian cause is not a cause for Palestinians only, but a cause for every revolutionary, wherever he is, as a cause of the exploited and oppressed masses in our era.’ - Ghassan Kanafani.”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

Uri retweeted an October 2, 2016 tweet showing multiple anti-Israel murals, including one supporting PFLP terrorist Bilal Kayed.

PFLP terrorist Bilal Kayed was incarcerated for 14 years  for terror attacks and attempted terror attacks committed during the second intifada, in 2002.

Endorsing Violent Riots

On May 24, 2018, Uri posted to Facebook endorsing the Hamas-led “March of Return” riots where she alleged that “Israel kills [Palestinians] indiscriminately” and  went on to claim: “That protesters are ‘breaching the border fence’ is a false claim.”

In May 2018, terror organization Hamas instigated the “March of Return.” Thousands of violent rioters attempted numerous breaches of Israel’s border fence with Gaza, seeking to harm Jews across the border. Media reports confirmed [00:00:20] protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of the fence, some by armed Palestinians. On May 15, 2018, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahhar said the Gaza protests were only a pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

Multiple media reports confirmed [00:00:20] the protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of the border fence. One Hamas leader declared [00:00:30]: “We will take down the border [with Israel] and we will tear out their hearts from their bodies.”

On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border to take part in “Land Day Protests” or the “March of Return.” The March of Return was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests along Israel’s border to spotlight the demand of Palestinians to “return” to Israel.

The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Participants also attempted to breach the border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire.

Agitators threw molotov cocktails, firebombs, shot firearms and threw rocks under the cover of smoke from burning tires.

On April 8, 2018, Uri indicated on Facebook that she “went” to an American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) event supporting the March of Return.

Uri retweeted a May 30, 2018 tweet referring to the ongoing riots as “civil society protests” and calling Hamas’ involvement “The *Hamas* straw man.”

On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.

On May 15, 2018, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahhar said that the Gaza protests were a pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On October 1, 2018, Uri shared a Facebook video of SJP founder Hatem Bazian. In the video, Bazian expressed [00:01:05] “support for Palestinians...living under siege in the Gaza strip, almost suffering the eight year of a total siege that is depriving them of the basic human rights.”

On September 23, 2018, Uri tweeted: “17 Palestinians in Israeli detention are dying slowly due to poor treatment #BoycottApartheidIsrael.” Uri’s tweet linked to tweet with a story about the prisoners, claiming that Palestinian prisoners were subjected to a  “policy of deliberate medical negligence” in Israeli prison

On May 24, 2018, Uri wrote a Facebook post supporting the March of Return, where she accused Israel of “active colonization” and “apartheid.”

On February 20, 2018, Uri tweeted: “:(“ in response to a tweet that said: “This is Palestine: invaded, colonised, apartheid-ised, Judaised, brutalised, weaponised, occupied, Israel-ised.”

On December 11, 2017, Uri tweeted “nasty a** smile” about a tweet  with text reading: “i made this israeli laugh the other day.” The tweet featured a photo of a trash can, lidded with a smiley face.

Uri retweeted a December 11, 2017 tweet that said: “If a siren went off in Israel each time Israel violated a human right in Gaza, the entire country would be permanently deaf.”

Uri retweeted a December 8, 2017 tweet that said: “the capital of Israel is jahanam [hell].”

Uri retweeted multiple October 30, 2017 tweets that promoted the “#DeadlyExchange” campaign, which was organized by the anti-Israel organization Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP).

In 2017, JVP launched the “Deadly Exchange (DX)” campaign, which accused American Jewish organizations of promoting human rights abuses. JVP also released a video that blamed [00:04:04] U.S.-based Jewish organizations for violence that occurs against Black and Brown communities, immigrants and activists in the U.S.
Uri retweeted an August 12, 2017 tweet from anti-Semite Samer Alhato that said: “Lmao this ugly a** white Zionist at Slut Walk.” Alhato accused a pro-Israel activist of supporting “ethnic cleansing and genocide” in a video.

On August 7, 2017, Uri tweeted about a tweet that said: “u know when u think about someone and ur heart goes ❤️🌸🌈💋✨🌷 …” Uri wrote in response: “Ya but then they tell me they went on birthright so it goes 🤢😤😑😶😱👿👹👺💩👽☠️💀🖕🏽🐷🐍🔫🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤💔.”

Birthright Israel is a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.

On July 30, 2017, Uri tweeted: “Lololol i said this in my interview the other day ‘I cant be friends with people who legitimatize a Jewish state'’ #sorrynotsorry.”

Uri retweeted a June 4, 2017 tweet that said: “Zionism is a cover for white supremacy.”

On February 9, 2017, Uri tweeted that Israel is carrying out “genocide and ethnic cleansing.”

On October 13, 2016, Uri posted to Facebook a photo of a baby and commented: “MEET BABY WALID, THE 2,000,000th PERSON IN GAZA. They keep ethnic cleansing but we cant stop wont stop.”

On October 1, 2016, Uri claimed on Facebook that former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres “supported genocide.”

Uri retweeted a September 29, 2016 tweet from @BDSmovement with a photo of someone holding a sign that said: “Israel trains US police to occupy black communities! BDS Now!”

Promoting Hatred of Zionists

On May 21, 2018, Uri wrote on Instagram: “Bye GW zionists hope you end up in hell🙃”

On December 16, 2017, Uri tweeted: “@everyGWzionist” and included a tweet that said: “I hate those kids in class discussions that tell me that I have to respect other people's opinions. I don't have to respect an ‘opinion’ that devalues someones existence and dehumanizes them.”

On December 11, 2017 Uri tweeted “Pls come protect me from DC zionists” in response to a tweet that said: “Just your average local nazi puncher.”

On November 30, 2017, Uri tweeted about someone who said “Jerusalem” in class. Uri then tweeted: “Then the b**ch said Israel hope she goes home scared of the look i gave her.”

BDS Activism

On June 2, 2018, Uri wrote on Facebook about the “#DivestThisTime” BDS campaign at GWU, referring to it as “my … BDS campaign that passed.”

On May 10, 2018, Uri promoted [00:00:11] the #DivestThisTime campaign in an Al Jazeera interview, filmed at GWU.

On April 14, 2018, Uri wrote on Instagram: “Now that my family is well I can go back to thinking about SR-S18-21 The Protection of Palestinian Human Rights Act - its hitting the GW student senate floor on Monday~.”

The resolution implied that “Israel is the worst apartheid regime” and that Israel imposes “forced labour” on Palestinians. It also implied that Israel divides “its population along racial lines by the creation of separate reserves and ghettos for the members of a racial group or groups.”

The resolution portrayed Israeli military campaigns against Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) as deliberate attempts to kill children and civilians. It also singled out Israel for alleged violations of the Geneva Convention and war crimes.

Israel commenced Operations Cast Lead (OCL), Pillar of Defense (OPD) and Protective Edge (OPE) in 2008-09, 2012 and 2014, respectively, in order to stop Hamas rocket fire from Gaza targeting Israeli civilians.

Three of the resolution’s four co-sponsors voted [00:09:59] against an amendment [00:07:15] acknowledging that “Israel is a state and has the right to exist” and that Israelis have the “right to safety, security and self-determination.” The fourth co-sponsor abstained.

Uri tweeted that she was an SJP at GWU activist in Spring of 2018 and Fall of 2017.

On March 31, 2017, Uri posed for an Instagram photo with other SJP at GWU activists promoting their 2017 #DivestThisTime BDS campaign.

On September 9, 2016, Uri promoted on Facebook a BDS event hosted by the SJP chapter at Georgetown University featuring USCPR activist, Andrew Kadi.

Demonstrating Against Israel

On April 9, 2017, Uri appeared [00:14:39] in a Youtube video taken at a major anti-Israel Al-Awda rally in Washington, D.C. the previous month.

On March 26, 2017, anti-Israel group Al-Awda organized a rally in Washington, D.C., against the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Speakers included Holocaust revisionist Ryan Dawson, who incited [00:13:27, 00:14:30] hatred toward Jews and called [00:14:21] AIPAC a “parasite.” Protestors shouted [00:15:27] “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!”, which Al-Awda co-founder Abbas Hamideh has confirmed [00:02:52] is a call to eliminate Israel.

#DivestThisTime at GWU 2018 - Instigated by SJP at GWU

On March 24, 2018, student groups at GWU launched the second BDS campaign in two years; both were titled “#DivestThisTime.” Activists with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at GWU (SJP at GWU) led both campaigns

On the campaign launch day, #DivestThisTime released a Facebook promotional video, in which activists alleged [00:01:23] that Israel has committed “crimes against humanity.” They also claimed [00:03:34] that Palestinians are “bombed every day” and blamed Israel [00:02:06] for police violence against black Americans in Ferguson, Missouri.

SJP at GWU held five events leading up to the launch of #DivestThisTime, which formed part of its 2018 Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW). IAW is presented as “an international series of events that seek to raise awareness of Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people” and build support for the BDS movement.

#DivestThisTime at GWU 2018 - Demonizing Israel

On April 23-24, 2018, the GWU Student Association (SA) held a hearing and vote on the BDS resolution. At least 18 SJP at GWU activists and affiliates addressed [01:07:50] the SA in defense of the resolution, where it passed [00:21:53] via [00:11:14] a secret ballot with 18 votes for, six against and six abstentions.

During the hearing, many Jewish students said [01:09:05] they experienced [01:24:45] anti-Semitism related to #DivestThisTime. One student spoke [00:50:40] about the Jewish community’s pain when “this hateful and divisive resolution was proposed over Passover.” One Jewish Israeli-American student said [00:48:05] it “creates an environment where I am made to feel that my identity is taboo” at GWU.

One black Jewish student said [01:39:24] that an SJP activist told him he was “weaponizing” his identity when he asked why a clause mentioning the “discriminatory conditions black people face in the Gaza Strip under Palestinian leadership” was omitted from the resolution.

SJP at GWU activists mocked [00:52:48] or dismissed [00:39:50] concerns over anti-Semitism. Other resolution supporters voiced agreement [00:45:40] with the SJP at GWU activists, including one who claimed [01:04:13] that resolution opponents were stoking “racial fears and sowing the divisions.”

A number of Jewish students walked out [00:35:19] of the hearing to protest [00:33:21] the resolution and to protest the SA’s inaction to combat anti-Semitism within its own ranks.

On April 24, 2018, three of the four resolution co-sponsors — Joshua Gomez, Eden Vitoff and Shaheera Jalil Albasitvoted [00:09:59] against an amendment [00:07:15] that said: “Palestinians and Israelis, like all people, have the right to safety, security, and self-determination” and “Israel is a state and has the right to exist.” Jessica Martinez, the other co-sponsor, abstained [00:10:06].

On May 10, 2018, Al Jazeera published a report on Youtube about #DivestThisTime. SJP at GWU activists spoke [00:01:47] to passers-by on campus and stood next to a display [00:01:43] labeled the “Israeli Apartheid Wall” that demonized Israel’s security barrier.

Israel’s security barrier, 97 percent of which is a low chain-link barrier, was built as a deterrent to Palestinian terror attacks. The concrete portions of the fence were built in response to Palestinian sniper attacks.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.

USCPR

Formerly known as the U.S. Campaign to End the Occupation, USCPR is a coalition of American-based anti-Israel organizations that lobbies the United States Congress to adopt anti-Israel policies and end government support for Israel.
