Mosaab Sadeia

Overview

Mosaab Sadeia has expressed support for terrorism and spread incitement online. Sadeia also promoted hatred of Israel as a speaker at anti-Israel rallies in 2021.

In May 2021, Sadeia engaged in activism with pro-terror activist group Within Our Lifetime (WOL). In 2020, he was affiliated with the anti-Israel campus group Student for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

Sadeia is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of May 2024, Sadeia’s LinkedIn profile said he had served as the president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (John Jay), where he was a student from 2017 to 2021. John Jay is part of the City University of New York (CUNY), and located in New York, New York.

Also as of May 2024, Sadeia’s LinkedIn said he had been a “SOC [Security Operations Center] Analyst II” at CNA Insurance since September 2023.

As of the same date, Sadeia’s LinkedIn said he graduated from John Jay with a bachelor’s degree in international criminal justice in 2021.

Also as of May 2024, Sadeia’s LinkedIn said he was located in the New York City metropolitan area. His Facebook page said he was located in Staten Island, New York.

As of May 2024, Sadeia went by the username “مصعب [Mosab]” on Twitter and used the handle “@notmosaad.”

Support for Terrorism

As of May 8, 2024, during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, Sadeia made his Twitter background image a photo of rockets being fired from Gaza at communities in Israel. Hamas fired thousands of rockets on October 7 and thousands more during the war Israel launched in retaliation.

The same image Sadeia posted showed defensive missiles from Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system being fired to intercept the terrorist rockets. Sadeia’s image included Arabic text that was translated: “And David killed Gliath [sic].”

On October 10, 2023, three days after Hamas terrorists murdered 1,200 Israeli Jews, Sadeia shared a Facebook post that said: “...When Israel…kills civilians under its occupation, it’s termed ‘retaliatory’ by Western media. But when the Palestinian resistance, essentially held captive in what’s known as the world’s largest open-air prison, reportedly kill civilians, it’s labeled as ‘terrorism’...”

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti- Semitic violence.

Referring to Gaza as an “open-air prison” is a way to delegitimize the United Nations-approved [pp. 39–41] joint Israeli-Egyptian blockade of the Gaza Strip imposed in 2011 to prevent Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation. Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, over 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.

A terrorist detained by Israel admitted he raped an Israeli woman when he broke into a kibbutz house during the October 7, 2023 attack. In March 2024, a former hostage of Hamas publicly stated she was sexually abused and tortured while in captivity.

For more information on the October 7, 2023 terror attacks, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.

Spreading Incitement

On May 11, 2021, Sadeia posted on Facebook a flyer promoting a WOL rally titled: “Emergency Rally for Palestine.” The flyer read: “#SaveSheikhJarrah #SaveSilwan…” Sadeia commented on the post: “#savealquds [save Jerusalem] #AlAqsaUnderAttack.”

The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda has led to multiple periods of violence against Israeli civilians.

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

Jewish owners who sought to reclaim their property rights to lands in Silwan, a Jerusalem neighborhood also known as Shiloach, have been frequently met with Palestinian violence. Many Jews and Palestinians possess conflicting deeds to the same properties, with Jews holding deeds that pre-date those held by Palestinians.

Incitement surrounding Al-Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah were leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at Israeli population centers from May 10 to 21, 2021. In response to rocket attacks from Gaza, Israel launched “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” striking military targets in the terrorist-controlled enclave.

Also on May 11, 2021, Sadeia posted a flyer on Facebook that read: “NO EID GREETINGS WITHOUT AL-AQSA! Every year local public officials and candidates wish the Muslim community Eid greetings in our houses of worship. This year we demand that public officials seeking to wish Eid greetings to also condemn Israel’s violence against the third holiest and most beloved spaces of worship for Muslims globally.”

Eid al-Fitr, or “Feast of Breaking the Fast,”is a religious holiday in Islam marking the end of a month-long fasting period during the month of Ramadan.

Sadeia commented on the post: “Al-Aqsa is a red line. Stand up for the Ummah’s [people’s] dignity. #AlAqsaUnderAttack #DefendJerusalem #protectalaqsa.”

On May 7-10, 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound, following claims that Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy Al-Aqsa has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state.

Hatred of Israel

On October 10, 2023, Sadeia shared a Facebook post that said: “The genocidal rhetoric and support from Western powers to Israeli crimes in Gaza…is a reminder that Israel is a colonial outpost in the Middle East…and just like the unprovoked events of the Nakba in 1948, Israel doesn’t need any reasons to commit genocide against Palestinians. Their mere existence requires Israel to either ‘civilize’ them…or exterminate them…”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

On December 6, 2017, Sadeia posted on Facebook a graphic of the Dome of the Rock that had a caption that read: “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine…”

Sadeia’s post was in response to former U.S. president Donald Trump’s December 2017 announcement that he would formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

5/15/2021 - Leading Anti-Israel Chants at a WOL Rally

On May 15, 2021, during OGW, Sadeia led [00:01:01] an anti-Israel chant and promoted BDS while speaking at a WOL rally in Brooklyn, New York, titled: “Nakba 73 / Defend Palestine!”

At the rally, Sadeia led [00:01:01] protestors in chanting: “Free free Palestine!”

Sadeia also called [00:57:31] for protestors to boycott Israel. He then said [00:57:34]: “This is the best way to attack the occupation.”

At the protest, protesters held signs that said [00:06:40]: “F**k Israel. All my homies hate Israel. #FreePalestine,” and [00:06:21] “Zionists are Nazis.” They also chanted [00:27:36]: “5, 6, 7, 8! Israel is a terrorist state!”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

5/28/2021 - Speaking at an Anti-Israel Rally

On May 28, 2021, one week after the end of OGW, Sadeia was featured as a speaker at a WOL rally on the John Jay campus titled: “CUNY RALLY FOR PALESTINE.”

In the speech, Sadeia claimed [00:00:30]: “What’s happening in Palestine is absolutely a genocide.”

At the rally, Sadeia also told [00:02:00] the crowd: “I took classes with IOF soldiers who looked me in the face in 2018 when Israel was bombing Gaza…and said: ‘But, Hamas.’”

“IOF” stands for Israeli Occupation Forces, a derogatory name used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army in place of its official name, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

On March 30, 2018, about 30,000 Gazans approached Israel’s border fence to join in “Land Day Protests,” which were also called the “March of Return.” The march was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests to spotlight the “right of return,” a policy discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

The violent riots continued until the end of 2018, accompanied by military-style attacks carried out by Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other terror organizations. The attacks included gunfire, armed rioters penetrating Israeli territory, throwing IEDs and hand grenades and launching incendiary kites into Israel.

WOL

Within Our Lifetime (WOL) is a pro-terror activist group in New York City dedicated to Israel’s destruction within the lifetime of its members.

Acts of violence and physical confrontations with police have frequently occurred at WOL protests and marches. WOL uses harassment campaigns to target pro-Israel organizations or companies that do business with Israel, making it a part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Multiple activists who have either burned Israeli flags or led chants at WOL rallies were later jailed for violent anti-Semitic hate crimes, including Saadah Masoud and Waseem Awawdeh. In Masoud’s case, he received 18 months in jail for an anti-Semitic assault at an April 2022 WOL rally and two other anti-Semitic assaults in 2021.

WOL promotes “resistance” against Israel “by any means necessary,” calls to “Globalize the Intifada,” spreads incitement and idolizes [00:34:06] Palestinian terrorists like Leila Khaled and others at rallies and online events.

WOL was founded by Nerdeen Kiswani and Dan Cione in 2015. Kiswani is a frequent speaker at WOL rallies where she has promoted terrorism against Israelis and called for the death of Zionists. She has also provided support for Masoud and other activists following their arrests.

WOL began as the New York City chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), going by NYC SJP, but changed its name in 2018. The group is not found to be registered in any U.S. state as a nonprofit organization under its official name. Nor is there any listing for WOL under its name on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website for tax-exempt organizations.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

MSA

The MSA was  established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
