The watermelon has been appropriated by anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It gained popularity following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.
On December 1, 2022, Dari posted on his since-deleted Facebook account: “الله يرحمكم ويجعل مثواكم الجنه” [May God have mercy on you and make you dwell in paradise].”
His post included photos of the funeral procession of Muhammad Al Saadi and Naim Jamal Zubeidi, whose bodies appeared draped in Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) flags.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) is a terror group “whose objective is the destruction of the State of Israel and the establishment of a sovereign, Islamic Palestinian state.” PIJ is backed by Iran and has killed dozens of Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks.
Also on December 1, 2022, the Times of Israel reported that Naim Zubeidi was a senior terror operative of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and reported that Muhammad Al Saadi was a field commander for the PIJ terror group who planned the kidnapping and concealment of an Israeli teen’s body.
On November 30, 2022, the day before, Dari tagged Zubeidi (نعيم زبيدي) on his Facebook post honoring Zubaidi’s death and wrote: “نشهد الله أنكَ أديتَ الأمانة وكنتَ عزيزاً مهاباً في زمنِ التخاذلِ والخيانة، طاردتهم ولم يُطاردوك، اغتلتَ مهابتهم وعنفوانهم ولم يغتالوك، وكانت بندقيتكَ هي الأنقى من بين آلاف البنادق، طبتَ مُطارِداً هُماماً وطبتَ شهيداً في عليين. الله يرحم روحك يا حبيبي نعيم زبيدي” [We bear witness to God that you fulfilled the trust and were dear and feared in the time of failure and betrayal. You chased them, and they did not chase you. You hit their dignity and aggression, and they did not hit you. Your rifle was the purest among thousands of rifles. You are blessed as you are courageous; you are blessed as a martyr in heaven. May God have mercy on your soul, my beloved Naim Zubaidi.]
On February 28, 2022, Dari posted on Facebook: “ ‘هذا السبيل ولا بديل. فارس الاشتباك عبدالله الحصري. لروحك الرحمة والغفران يا أسد ” [‘This is the way and there is no alternative.’ Combat hero Abdullah al-Housri. May your soul have mercy and forgiveness, lion
].”
Included in the post was a photo of PIJ terrorist Abdullah al-Housri holding a rifle with the PIJ logo on it. On February 28, 2022, i24news.tv reported that Abdullah Al-Housri was a PIJ terrorist and former Israeli prisoner who was killed during a firefight with Israeli security forces during an arrest operation for wanted terrorists.
On September 18, 2021, Dari posted on Facebook photos of two of six Palestinian terrorists, Ayham Kammaji and Munadil Nfeiat, who had escaped an Israeli prison and wrote:
"#بعد ١٤ يوماً من الفرار من سجن جلبوع من خلال #نفق_الحرية ..أعاد جيش الاحتلال إعتقال الاسيرين أيهم كممجي، ونضال نفيعات خلال مداهمة مدينة جنين في الضفة الغربية. #الحرية_لأسري٦_نفق_الحرية
[“After 14 days of escaping from Gilboa prison through #Freedom Tunnel, Occupation Army re-arrested prisoners…during the raid of Jenin city in West Bank…]
On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in Israel. The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, who were jailed for their involvement in attacks carried out during the second intifada. All were recaptured by September 19, 2021, by Israeli authorities.
Also on September 18, 2021, Dari posted on Facebook a photo of two others of the six Palestinian terrorists that had escaped the Gilboa prison and wrote: “ : وكما قالها غسا
[“As Ghassan (Kanafani) said: ‘When you betray the homeland, you will not find a soil to mourn you on the day of your death, you will feel cold even when you are dead.’ / Allah suffices me against those who betrayed and sold.
Captives, heartache
.]
Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.
On November 8, 2020, Dari shared on Facebook his own post from November 8, 2019 that featured a photo of Yasser Arafat. The post said: “حـَيـو الـشـُهـَداء الأحـرار .. [Hail the free martyrs ..] حـَيـو رجـال الـقِـتـال .. [Hail the men of battle ..] حـَيـو فُـرسـان الـفِـداء ، [Hail the knights of the redemption,] قـَد هـَزمـوّ الـذلَ والـعـار ردوّ شـَمـسً لِلـمَـداء .. [They have defeated humiliation and shame. They have returned the sun to blood..”]
Yasser Arafat was the former leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and is known by some as the “father of modern terrorism.” Arafat reportedly told Arab diplomats in a secret meeting in 1996: “We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion. Jews will not want to live among Arabs. I have no use for Jews. They are and remain Jews."
On June 23, 2020, Dari posted on Facebook a photo of terrorist Ahmad Erekat. [“In this country, a few moments are enough to overturn everything, enough to turn weddings into funerals, the invited into mourners and the groom is a martyr… #Ahmed _ Erekat”]
On October 4, 2019, Dari shared on Facebook his October 4, 2017 post that said: الله" يرحمك ويجعل مثواك الجنه السنه الثانيه على رحيلك الشهيد فادي علون” [May Allah have mercy on you and make you dwell in heaven. Second year since you left. Martyr Fadi Aloon.] Dari’s post included a photo of Fadi Aloon captioned with the words: “فتت روحي يا شهيد” [My soul has perished because of you, oh martyr.]
Fadi Aloon was shot by Israeli security forces after he stabbed a 15-year-old Israeli boy. Several hours before the attack, Aloon posted “Either martyrdom or victory” on his Facebook page.
[May Allah have mercy on you, hero of terrorizing them.] Embedded in the post was a video featuring terrorist Amar Abu Laila, captioned: “Palestinian hero Omar is martyred!!”
Omar Abu Laila stabbed and killed an Israeli soldier, stole the soldier’s weapon, opened fire on passing cars, killed an Israeli civilian, and wounded another soldier. Omar Abu Laila was killed by IDF soldiers near Ramallah after a two-day manhunt.
On November 13, 2019, during Israel’s Operation Black Belt, Dari posted on Facebook: “Israel’s attacking gaza again How many more times is this ok #free palestine .”
In November 2019, Israel launched Operation Black Belt to stop rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel. From November 12 to November 14, 2019, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror group sent hundreds of rockets into Israel, targeting major civilian population centers.
On December 26, 2020, Dari posted on Facebook a graphic captioned with the words: “let kids believe in Santa! Y’all old af [as f**k] and believe in Israel.”
On May 18, 2021, during the legal eviction dispute in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, Dari posted on Facebook: “...Save_SheikhJarrah_neighborhood… #لن_نرحل [We _ won't _ leave] [#Gaza_under_bombing] غزة_تحت_القصف#”
In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
On February 17, 2023, Dari posted on his Instagram account "@mo_bush_ny" a video of himself at a gun range practicing shooting with a handgun.
On July 15, 2017, Dari posted on his Instagram account "@dari1moe": “#AR_15 #getsome #tacticalboy…#ar15gunfighter #dangerousbutgood…” Included in the post were photographs of himself wearing combat fatigue pants and holding an AR15 rifle.
Dari participated in a May 15, 2021 WOL protest titled: “NAKBA DAY 73: DEFEND PALESTINE!” Dari shared on Facebook a video of himself participating in the protest, while anti-Israel activists chanted [00:21:20]: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free!” and chanted [00:22:35]: “be-ruh be-dam nifdik ya Aqsa! [With spirit, with blood, we will redeem you, Aqsa.]”
Dari appeared [00:21:24] on the center of the screen wearing a mask and waving a Palestinian flag.
The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by drawing a comparison to the Holocaust, known in Hebrew as the Shoah, meaning “catastrophe.”
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
The chant: “Be-ruh, be-dam, nifdik ya Aqsa بروح ودم نفديك يا اقصى [With spirit, with blood, we will redeem you, Aqsa]” can be heard [00:01:14] at anti-Israel rallies [00:02:19] in America. Yasser Arafat popularized the chant [00:00:23], which is invoked by anti-Israel protesters regarding a variety of causes.
Dari also updated his since-deleted Facebook cover photo with one that included his participation at the protest. He appeared wearing a mask and holding a Palestinian flag next to anti-Israel agitator Waseem Awawdeh.
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.
On May 8, 2021, Dari shared on Facebook a video indicating he participated in a WOL protest, where activists chanted [00:00:01]: “Globalize the Intifada! From New York to Gaza, Globalize the Intifada!” and [00:00:23]: “Intifada, Intifada! Long Live the Intifada!”
On May 5, 2021, WOL Palestine posted on Facebook: “Defend Palestine! Stand with Palestinians resisting in Sheik Jarrah…Join Within Our Lifetime…May 8th as we take to the streets in Brooklyn to raise our voices in defense of the Palestinian right to Resist and in support of the ongoing struggle in Sheik [sic] Jarrah…”
In May 2021, calls to “save” Sheikh Jarrah, a Jerusalem neighborhood at the center of a property dispute, led to violence against Israelis and were one of the leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel that month.
The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
