Jonathan Madamba
Jonathan Madamba [Jonny Ma] participated in eight anti-Israel events in the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California, in 2024-2025. Madamba has also spread hatred of Israel online and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.
As of May 2025, Jonathan Madamba’s Instagram said he was an actor and activist.
As of March 2026, Jonathan Madamba's Instagram said: "...#🍉 #🇵🇸 #freepalestine."
“Free Palestine” is a chant that has been described as a "battle cry for the death of Jews.” In May 2025, two Israeli diplomats in Washington, D.C., were murdered by a gunman shouting “Free Palestine!” In June 2025, one pro-Israel activist was killed and over 25 were injured in Boulder, Colorado, when a man yelling “Free Palestine” firebombed them.
The watermelon has been appropriated by terrorists and anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It gained widespread popularity and usage following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.

The event was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The outcome of the movement's goals would result in Israel's destruction. Within hours of the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, the BDS movement renewed its call for an anti-Israel boycott.
One of the organizers posted a video on Instagram of the event, with a pro-BDS song as the soundtrack. Captions to the video accused [00:00:18] Israel of "colonialism," and showed speakers in front of a large banner that said [00:00:01]: "FREE PALESTINE."

CAIR-SFBA 30th Anniversary Gala

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) chapter in the San Francisco Bay Area (CAIR-SFBA) hosted the event.
At the event, activists with the anti-Israel group San Jose Against War promoted a petition that the group authored and was endorsed by CAIR-SFBA. The petition was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and was titled: "SAN JOSE CITY COUNCIL: DIVEST FROM ISRAEL’S GENOCIDE AGAINST PALESTINE!"
The petition claimed multiple times that Israel was committing a "genocide" in its war against Hamas. It further accused Israel of "colonization" and called for a policy commonly known as the "right of return."
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

Hussam Abu Safiya is reportedly a Hamas colonel and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, which was used as a Hamas command and control center. In December 2024, he was arrested in Gaza by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on terrorism-related charges.
