Overview
Ishan Daya is a candidate for public office who ripped down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. The incident occurred in October 2023.
The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.
On November 20, 2023, Daya lost his job as a co-CEO at Crafty, a catering and food services company in Chicago, due to ripping down the posters.
In December 2023, Daya announced he was running to become the “Democratic Ward Committeeperson for the 32nd Ward of Chicago.”
Daya’s campaign website said he was “a community organizer and entrepreneur” who was “committed to building a transparent and participatory process – and fighting against efforts of intimidation and disinformation that seek to undermine that process.”
As of December 2025, Daya’s LinkedIn profile said he was a “Community Organizer | Building & Scaling Organizations | Prev. Co-Founder & Co-CEO @ Crafty.”
As of the same date, Daya’s LinkedIn said he was located in Chicago, Illinois.
