Emma Barham
Overview
Emma Barham [Emma Roberts] has spread hatred of Israel and engaged in anti-Israel activism as the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) president at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst) during the 2015-2016 academic year. The SJP chapter at UMass Amherst is known as SJP UMass.In 2016, Barham’s Twitter bio read that she was an “SJP Exec” and a “polisci” student at UMass Amherst. She was also an activist with SJP UMass in 2014.
As of July 2023, Barham’s LinkedIn profile said she had been a “Style Setup” at Delta Galil Industries since November 2021. Delta Galil is headquartered in Caesarea, Israel, and New York, New York.
As of September 2023, Barham’s LinkedIn said she was located in New York, New York.
As of the same date, Barham went by the username “Emma A. Barham” and the handle “@emmaroberts93” on LinkedIn. She also went by the username “Emma Barham” and used the handle “@eroberts93” on Facebook. In 2015 and 2016, she went by the username “Emma Roberts” and used the handle “@hostilenpc” on Twitter.
Hatred of Israel and Anti-Israel Activism (SJP)
Barham organized a November 12, 2012 protest titled: “Stand with Gaza, Protest Against Recent Israeli Attacks.” She reportedly organized the protest “to call out Israel's war crimes against the Palestinian people.” The event occurred during Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense (OPD). Approximately 20 people reportedly joined the protest.Israel launched OPD to stop Hamas rocket attacks on Israeli civilians from Gaza. Over the course of eight days in November 2012, Palestinian terrorist groups fired more than 1,500 rockets at Israel. The majority struck Israel, damaging homes, schools and other civilian areas. Human Rights Watch noted: “Palestinian armed groups made clear in their statements that harming civilians was their aim.”
On December 12, 2014, Barham featured in several UMass SJP Facebook photos, posing alongside other activists. One Facebook post where she was tagged read: “Before you all leave, we would like to thank you guys for your devotion and support, UMass SJP wouldn't be the same without all your happy faces!!...”
On July 7, 2015, Barham tweeted: “Snapchat so would you have shown the Gaza beach massacre or only the people partying on stolen land? #TelAvivLive.”
On October 10, 2015, Barham tweeted: “What does #WorldMentalHealthDay mean in the face of continued occupation of Palestine?...”
In October 2015, Barham organized an SJP Umass event featuring an anti-Israel poet. As of September 2023, her LinkedIn said she organized a “Remi Kanazi Performance” at UMass Amherst. She wrote: “I reached out to Kanazi’s team and guided them and my organization through planning a performance of spoken word poetry at UMass.”
Poet Remi Kanazi is known for his aggressively anti-Israel spoken-word performances. He has supported terrorism and has compared Israel to both ISIS and the Ku Klux Klan.
The “performance” Barham referred to was titled: “Before the Next Bomb Drops - An Evening of Spoken Word With Remi Kanazi,” and took place on October 13, 2015, during Barham’s tenure as UMass SJP president. It was hosted by UMass SJP.
On April 7, 2016, Barham attended a UMass SJP event titled: “Palestinian Right 2 Education Tour: The Impact of Colonialism on Education in Palestine.” The event was part of the “2016 Right to Education Tour” organized by the National SJP.
The Right to Education Tour brings Palestinian students to U.S. campuses to promote a claim that Israel arbitrarily obstructs the rights of Palestinians to higher education. The organization has demonized Israel for its security sweeps made to shut down terror cells operating from Palestinian campuses.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
