Dalal Hillou

Overview

Dalal Hillou defended terrorism and demonized Israel on social media. In 2013, Hillou was an activist with Athens for Justice in Palestine (AJP), now known as Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), at the University of Georgia (UGA).

Hillou has supported the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of May 2018, Hillou’s LinkedIn page said that Hillou was a social media coordinator for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), from 2013-2014.

The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) is a nonprofit organization reportedly set up to “provide urgent humanitarian care for Gaza’s children.” It has been financially linked with the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), which was shut down by the U.S. government for funneling donations to a terrorist organization.

As of January 2019, Hillou’s Linkedin page said she was Judicial Law Clerk at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

As of the same date, Hillou’s LinkedIn page also said she received a law degree from the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) in 2018 and a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Arabic from UGA in 2013.

Defending Terrorism

On November 11, 2015, Hillou tweeted: “‘Current Palestinian violence is unjustified’ I'm assuming you have been living under a very privileged rock.”

In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.

On November 20, 2015, Hillou tweeted: “Listening to Palestinian freedom songs is definitely the best way I have ever prepped for a final. Feeling like I'm about to go to battle.”

On February 23, 2016, Hillou tweeted: “There can be no dialogue with occupation. Only resistance.”

On February 19, 2013, Hillou and other AJP activists created and displayed a blackboard that read “Existence is Resistance.”

Demonizing Israel

On June 30, 2014, Hillou tweeted that Israel was a “racist state.”

On February 22, 2015, Hillou tweeted: “That awkward look you give someone you just met when they tell you they're an Arab who supports the Israeli army... Girl bye.”

On April 22, 2015, Hillou tweeted referring to the Israeli city of Haifa as “Colonized Palestine.”

On June 16, 2015, Hillou tweeted: “Why am I doing breathing exercises, you ask? Because I just ran into a Zionist Palestinian on Facebook and it's just so upsetting, actually.”

On, December 28, 2015, Hillou tweeted “I swear I start breathing fire when I see or hear people use the term "Judea and Samaria" for the West Bank.”

AJP Supporting Terrorism

AJP’s Twitter feed features retweets advocating for terrorist violence — such as a picture of a woman with an assault rifle in front to Popular Front for The Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) flags — and declaring “Liberation struggle through all forms.” AJP’s Twitter feed also frequently links to sites that regularly spread Israel-hating propaganda, including Electronic intifada and Mondoweiss.

On November 18, 2015, an AJP hosted an event featuring New York-based poet and writer Remi Kanazi. Kanazi tours widely presenting aggressively anti-Israel poetry and spoken-word performances. On this occasion he referred to Israel as “s**tty,” “ethnic cleansing,” and Zionism as “Racism” and colonialism.”

AJP Disseminating Lies

On March 15, 2012, as part of their annual Israeli Apartheid week AJP hosted the radical anti-Zionist Professor, Noel Ignatiev, who delivered a lecture titled Zionism - an Ideology of Race. Ignatiev is a known purveyor of extreme anti-Israel views and his heavily distorted entry on Zionism was removed from a prominent encyclopedia following an independent review.

On January 25, 2009, an AJP organized anti-Israel protest outside the CNN building, featured signs accusing Israel of Nazism  — like an Israeli flag with a Swastika instead of the star of David. Other signs read “the Real Nazis,” “Israeli Terrorists” and “Genocide in Palestine.”

On December 31, 2008, AJP and other anti-Israel groups held a protest in front of the Israeli Consulate in Atlanta. Protesters chanted slogans such as, “U.S, Israel you can’t hide, we charge you with Genocide.”

AJP Denying Israel’s Right to Exist

On September 17, 2014, AJP organized an anti-Israel protest, opposing Israel’s Operation Protective Edge. Demonstrators held signs and placards reading: "Zionism is Racism," “Stand up against Israeli Apartheid,” and“To Exist is to Resist.”

Demonstrators denied Israel’s right to exist in any part of Palestine — chanting the extremist uncompromising stance of Hamas leader, Khaled Mashal, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," and “Free, free Palestine, Israel out of Palestine.”

AJP Demonizing Israel - Promoting Violence

On March 18, 2015, AJP erected a Mock Apartheid wall in an attempt to falsely recharacterize the purpose of Israel’s security fence. Written text on the mock wall made a false claim that Israel’s security barrier was built on "90% of Palestinian land."

On February 19, 2013, AJP held an Israeli Apartheid day, where activists created displays and a black board that read "Existence is Resistance," advocating for Palestinian popular “resistance.” On February 23, 2016 made clear that his agreement that there can be no alternative to violence, stating: “There can be no dialogue with occupation. Only resistance.”

The displays included fabricated or distorted quotations allegedly said by Israel’s leaders. One displayed a libelous, fabricated quote, attributed to Ariel Sharon, about evicting Palestinians being "necessary." Another quote distortedand quoted out of context the words of the founder of modern Zionism, Theodor Herzl.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
