Bianca Berdiago

Bianca Berdiago was fired from her job as a coffee shop manager for promoting antisemitism in the workplace in December 2023.

The incident occurred following a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023.

The Hamas terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when Berdiago was involved in an anti-Semitic incident with a customer.

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

As of December 10, 2023, Berdiago was listed online as having been a manager at Farley’s East coffee shop in Oakland, California, since at least November 2018. The December 6, 2023 incident happened at Farley’s East.

However, on December 9, 2023, Farley’s East posted [slide 2] on Instagram a statement by its owners addressing the December 6, 2023 incident, stating that “the employees involved in the incident are no longer employed by Farley’s.”

On December 6, 2023, Berdiago, along with other employees at her workplace, blocked restroom access to a reportedly Jewish customer after the woman complained about the presence of antisemitic graffiti there. The customer was filming the incident.

The graffiti was written in white chalk. One message said [00:01:19]: “ZIONISM = FASCISM.” Another said [00:01:22]: “YOUR NEUTRALITY/APATHY IS ENABELING [sic] GENOCIDE!...”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture. Zionism is a core part of the identity of most Jews.

During the incident, Berdiago said [00:00:04] to the customer: “Currently, this is a private property. I do need you to leave.”

Jesse Turner, one of Berdiago’s employees, then added [00:00:08]: “I know Israel loves taking private property and saying it’s their own, but we got a head.”

Turner later said [00:01:20] to the customer: “History doesn’t start in 1948, lady. Free Palestine. It’s always.”

The modern State of Israel was founded in 1948.

Berdiago then said [00:01:23] to the customer: “Free Palestine. Now please leave.”
