Tim Gionet

Overview

Tim Gionet [Tim Treadstone Gionet] is a prominent far-right troll and social media personality who stormed the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. in January 2021 and was arrested on January 15, 2021. 

Gionet was also arrested in early December 2020 and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing. He also faced additional charges for vandalizing a Hanukkah menorah in Phoenix, Arizona in late December 2020.

Gionet was reportedly a scheduled headline speaker at the “Unite the Right” protest attended by anti-Semites in Charlottesville, VA, in October, 2017.

Gionet has also spread anti-Semitism and mocked the Holocaust. He has also promoted bigotry online. 

As of January 2021, Gionet was featured on a list of right-wing extremists spotlighted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

As of January 2021, Gionet’s Wikipedia page said he was a 2010 graduate of Azusa Pacific University (APU) and that his full name was Anthime Joseph Gionet.

Gionet reportedly moved to the Phoenix area in 2019.

Gionet is more commonly known as “Baked Alaska” and “Tim Treadstone” online. 

Storming the U.S. Capitol Building 

As of January 7, 2021, Gionet was reportedly one of the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol building in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021. 
 
The trespass took place during protests in Washington D.C. held in opposition to the counting of Electoral College ballots, the final step in confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s Presidential victory and defeat of U.S. President, Donald Trump.
 
Rioters breached police security and forced their way into the Capitol building, reportedly “determined to occupy the inner sanctums of Congress and run down leaders.” The invasion reportedly caused staff inside the building to hide and others to be evacuated to safety.
 
On January 7, 2021, video footage reportedly taken by Gionet and live-streamed on Dlive.tv from inside the Capitol building was shared on Twitter. The video showed rioters chanting [00:00:10] “America First,” at Gionet’s prompting.
 
On the same day, more live-streamed footage and images were shared on Twitter of Gionet and several other rioters inside House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, where Gionet was videotaped saying [00:00:01]:“Let’s call Trump!!!” and claiming [00:00:14] that Trump “would be happy.” 
 
Gionet also attempted [00:00:18] to use an internal Capitol building phone line to call the U.S. Senate in order to report a “fraudulent election.”.
 
On January 6, 2021, additional video footage was shared on Twitter of Gionet being ejected of the Capitol building by law enforcement officers, while Gionet shouted: [00:00:16] “f**k you, f**k you, f**k you. You piece of s**t. You broke your oath to the constitution. F**k you!” 
 
Some rioters also reportedly chanted: “Hang [Vice President] Mike Pence!” and allegedly demanded to know the whereabouts of Pelosi and other lawmakers. 
 
It was also reported that a “makeshift gallows complete with sturdy wooden steps and the noose” was placed across from the Capitol building. The gallows bore [00:00:14] two signs, one saying: “Stand With Trump” and “This is Art.” 

On January 7, 2021, a video featuring Gionet reportedly “captured several weeks” earlier was posted on Reddit. In the video, Gionet said [00:00:00]: “Civil war, yeah. Yeah, it’s gonna be a full civil war. That’s why I am going home to get my f**kin’ gun, I’m gonna shoot some f**kin’ retards” and [00:00:15] “I’m not playing bro.”

On January 9, 2021, Dlive issued a statement that Gionet’s account was “found to be inciting violent and illegal activities…” and had “been suspended indefinitely.”
 
On January 10, 2021, a January 6, 2021 video was shared on Twitter of Gionet interviewing a Trump supporter, while recording the interview on a Dlive stream, via his phone.
 
The Trump supporter said [00:00:26]: “In fact, tomorrow… I don’t even like to say it because I’ll be arrested… I’ll say it. We need to go in...to the Capitol.” 
 
Gionet responded [00:00:38]: “LETS GO!!!”
 
On January 15, 2021, Gionet was reportedly arrested by the FBI in Houston, Texas and “charged with participating in the violent riot on Capitol Hill.”

Arrested for Assault 

On December 11, 2020, Gionet reportedly was arrested after he pepper-sprayed [00:01:07] a bouncer at Giligin's Bar And Shrimp Hut in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona.According to Scottsdale online court records, Gionet is reportedly “facing three charges: assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing” in connection to the incident.
 
Gionet was reportedly released after the incident without bail with a court hearing scheduled for December 22, 2020. On January 12, 2021, it was reported that a condition for Gionet’s release was “that he stay in the state of Arizona and continue to follow the law.” 
 
Following widespread news coverage of Gionet’s involvement in the Capitol riots in Washington D.C., Scottsdale prosecutors reportedly asked a judge to revoke Gionet’s release.
 
On January 4, 2021, footage of Gionet was shared on Twitter in which he said [00:00:00] he recently tested positive for Covid-19. Gionet claimed he contracted the disease from the bouncer, alleging that the bouncer spat in his face.

Vandalism Charge

On January 12, 2021, Gionet was reportedly due to face additional charges, in connection to vandalism in Arizona.

On December 19, 2020, video footage allegedly sourced from Gionet’s Dlive streams was posted on Reddit. The footage showed someone tearing down a sign that read "Happy Chanukah" affixed to a menorah erected in front of the Arizona Capitol building.
 
The livestreamer, who reportedly sounded like Gionet, said [00:00:20]: "No more 'Happy Hanukkah,' only 'Merry Christmas! This is a disgrace.’" 
 
On January 12, 2021, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reportedly planned “to send a criminal damage charge against Gionet to Maricopa County prosecutors to review in connection with the vandalism.”

Headline Speaker at White Supremacist Charlottesville Rally

On August 10, 2017, Ginot was reportedly billed as a headline speaker at the “Unite the Right” rally that took place on August 12th in Charlottesville, VA. 

On April 17, 2018, Ginot featured in a video shared on Youtube marching with White Nationalists holding tiki-torches in Charlottesville. Gionet joined [00:00:25] in chanting “You Will Not Replace Us!” 

Later in the video Gionet repeated [00:03:24] for the camera: “You will not replace us! You and your cultural Marxist faggot bulls**t,” later adding [00:05:16]: “White Lives Matter.” 


On October 12, 2020, Gionet featured in a video reportedly taken at the Unite the Right rally, marching with David Duke. After Duke addressed [00:00:03] Gionet by his nickname “Baked Alaska,” and praised his “courage,” Gionet responded [00:00:07]: “I love you Dr. Duke; thank you so much.” 

David Duke is aformer Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. He is also a Holocaust denier, an anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist and a convicted felon.

Anti-Semitism

On October 9, 2016, Gionet tweeted: “Jews control the News.” 

In December 2016, Gionet was reportedly disinvited from the “Deploraball,” an “Alt-Lite”-organized event, after he posted a series of anti-Semitic tweets. 

On December 26, 2016, Gionet tweeted: “Me: Upon research, I noticed Jewish people run 95% of American media that is very interesting. Internet: Why do you want to gas the Jews?”

On December 27, 2016, Gionet tweeted: “Jews control the News. Never Forget.”

After the reported announcement of Gionet’s removal from the Deploraball program by far-right figure Mike Cernovich, and Gionet’s replacement by Milo Yiannopoulos, a conservative provocateur, Gionet reportedly issued a 45-minute Periscope video calling Cernovich "a massive cuck" for side-stepping "the Zionist question."
